Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES
Guan 2.0 replied to sadoldgit's topic in The Lounge
Well done to the security services. Nice to have a positive outcome on this thread! http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40802787 Three men who dubbed themselves the Three Musketeers have been found guilty of plotting a terror attack on a police or military target in the UK. Naweed Ali, 29, and Khobaib Hussain, 25, both of Sparkhill, Birmingham, and Mohibur Rahman, 33, of Stoke-on-Trent, were convicted at the Old Bailey. They were arrested in August last year in an undercover police sting using a fake courier firm. A fourth man, Tahir Aziz, 38, from Stoke-on-Trent, was also found guilty. They will be sentenced on Thursday. Police say the men, who had all denied preparing terrorist acts, were inspired by so-called Islamic State, also known as Daesh. -

From the beeb: I wonder if he was affiliated with any particular group (extremist christian, BNP, etc), i'm sure that those details will come out soon. Thoughts to all those affected by this ruthless attack. -
(My Own) Final Prediction: 80 seat majority for Conservatives, Corbyn to stay on as leader, SNP to lose 8 seats.
-
A slightly strange one here, with varying levels of detail given across different outlets: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-40189916 The BBC neglects to mention that the Attackers (according to the victim) shouted "This Is for Allah" and broke her ribs. Something seems out of place with the original story though (Did they know each other, previous animosity, etc).

Martyn has now been confirmed as murdered in the terrorist attack. I have been fortunate enough to pass on my condolences to his family, who are understandably distraught at this time, including his brother, who has been doorstepped by journalists after refusing to engage with them on twitter. Rest in Peace my friend. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-manchester-40026357 -

You made a deliberately glib remark after I had provided details of a personal friend who may very well have been murdered by an agent of ISIS (he is still missing, thanks for asking). Your pathetic attempts to legitimise your despicable actions with handful of purple prose further up the page is as futile as it is cowardly. For your next great wheeze, I suggest you text the parents of the missing children and ask them if the music was good at the concert. These are real people who have been murdered, not abstract concepts. You repugnant little worm. -

I think someone needs to alert the authorities about Sour Mash being at fault for this Terrorist event Meanwhile I'm here wondering If my Friend Martyn Hakan Hett, who was my hallmate in 1st year, and is now missing in Manchester, is dead or just unconscious. He spoke to me regarding the fact that due to his Ancestry and sexuality, he had received a lot of hate and threats of violence from 'Mainstream' Muslims. But hey ho, he was probably making it up and this whole thing is a massive hoax by him. If he has been murdered, his death is probably "ISIS's wet dream" given his outspoken and unapologetic stance towards his private and public life, not anything a poster on Saintsweb says in reaction to yet another religiously motivated mass murder. -

Morale isn't 'That' bad. But, there is frustration with the uncertain takeover, players and non-playing staff asking what it means for their future. And a sense we are slipping.

What a sad end to the season. Well, at least we have a few easy games coming up against teams with nothing to play for

Terrorist Attacks - WARNING: CONTAINS DISTRESSING IMAGES

You can rest easy Hypo, At the time of Richard's death the marriage remained unconsummated. The house of commons actually declared that Isabella would be considered to be of age for child bearing at 12, as they were concerned over Richards Virility and even given this (very) young age restriction, Richard would have to survive until his mid 50's to avoid the reign of boy king and the 'dangerous' prospect of a regent. There was none. It was an odd comparison to make. Although Richard II did. He never was accused of any 'creepy' contact with Isabella, even after marriage and given the deliberate blackening of his name by Henry IV . She grieved for him after becoming widowed, and refused several other marriages as a result. So you had a King who was forced to marry a 6 year old as a result of a truce to avoid further war with France and did not consummate, vs A religious Prophet (The Perfect man of Islam) who married a six year old and sexually abused her (Thighing) until she was 9 when he started having sex with her. As I said, an odd comparison to make. -

So you're trying to frame it like that are you? Superb. First of all, I didn't write the article. It does have some excellent sources though. I merely copied over a paragraph to show that he was betrothed (and married) Isabella as part of a truce deal, brokered after the original proposals failed. So i highlighted the sentence about the truce, and how the proposal was arranged Oddly enough, in your attempt to frame 'my' (in actuality the articles) words as 'creepy' you leave out "As part of the truce" that begins the sentence, and claim it as you quoting me. Dishonest to say the least. I then go on to mention that the marriage went ahead earlier than the original agreement (this was with the encouragement of Charles VI, to solidify the truce) You can see it quoted directly above "So obviously it was accelerated". But i think you already knew that, and that you have tried to twist my giving context to the betrothal and marriage as a diplomatic move into my somehow supporting/approving of the marriage of six year old girls. How regrettable on your part. -

How is this wrong? Are you suggesting that the original proposal did not include the conditions under which the marriage was proposed . The article actually lists the estimated age of marriage as six. So obviously it was accelerated. But to suggest the context is 'wrong' is incorrect. -

With national stability secured, Richard began negotiating a permanent peace with France. A proposal put forward in 1393 would have greatly expanded the territory of Aquitaine possessed by the English crown. However, the plan failed because it included a requirement that the English king pay homage to the King of France – a condition that proved unacceptable to the English public.[51] Instead, in 1396, a truce was agreed to, which was to last 28 years.[52] As part of the truce, Richard agreed to marry Isabella, daughter of Charles VI of France, when she came of age. There were some misgivings about the betrothal, in particular because the princess was then only six years old, and thus would not be able to produce an heir to the throne of England for many years -

One match, nothing held back, we can do this. C'mon boys.

Status Quo? We would have had all those wonderful new reforms that David Cameron had 100% guaranteed with his bitter and lengthy negotiations with the EU, that would definitely have happened.

Indeed. The only thing that the Black box told Reed was "Sign someone or we're f&*8ed"

Nope, merely posing a question. The name is already out there. Surely though, it is worth any risk given our current situation, no?
