  2. As much as I would bask in the news of Emery, I thought De Boer was more likely. But Manuel Pellegrini, Christ. His outlay per premier league place must be insane. The new direction isn't just about the manager, it's a comprehensive plan resulting from a ground up study of the club, and where we aim to be. He just doesn't fit. I don't understand it if it's true.
  3. I'll put it on the record now, If Saints appoint Manuel Pellegrini it will be the biggest knee jerk move since we handed Redknapp the keys to St Marys just to make a point. A bad one. I'll be happy to be wrong.
  4. Manuel Pellegrini wasn't even on the short-list, unlike De Boer. (Flores wasn't either, but it was drawn up before the end of the season, so maybe that's changed? Keep listing names games, I'll ask to see if they are in contention). Pellergrini would mean that at least 2 board members have done a huge U-turn on future appointment profiles. Perhaps the club are just letting the rumour ride to show we can attract big names? From a purely personal perspective it seems a bad fit. I don't think it's real.
  5. I don't pick the names, just passed on who has has been confirmed as on our short-list. Last time the press had Holloway and Phil brown, so I guess this is progress. 3/3
  6. Emery AVB Moyes Howe... It was so funny to see some down-market nationals link us with Martinez! If Pearson hadn't gone to Derby, no doubt he'd have been touted too.
  7. Seeing some speculation on here about who Koeman will take with him... The players who liked him signed contracts tying them down, and thus would cost a large portion of Everton's new found wealth, or had beef with him (Tadic, Mane). Wanyama and Mane are still definitely off though, if they can find anyone who thinks they are worth as much as they have convinced themselves they are Need to tie down Bertrand and Shane long though. Both clubs on Merseyside have problems at left back.
  8. Have info, very limited in what i can say. Very regrettable. The second I can say more, I will.
  9. Would anyone want him here just for the money?
  10. Some, but not all (I have heard those same lamentable arguments). My natural inclination is to vote in, but my greater inclination is to open up the matter. I don't see how the rather dubious argument that David Cameron should go back go his pledge to hold a referendum on EU membership and ignore the mandate which he was partially elected for is some kind of 'Slam dunk' piece of excellence by Mitchell. Instead it seems to ignore the major bugbears of the out camp surrounding lack of accountability and voter influence in EU decisions, and the feeling that since 1975 the EU has used the Common Market vote to expand it's decision making power into huge swathes of everyday British life, (although i would counter that as it was named the European Communities membership referendum, and the EEC was already expansive, it's not as if the 'No' side had a lack of fair warning).
  11. Indeed. The vote in the referendum is predicated upon the mandated platform promised in exchange for a vote in the general election! Which I guess, y'know, would probably prove that people are surprisingly intelligent beings outside of the cult of the Westminster bubble, who are perfectly capable of reasoning how to use their vote. Just fancy that!
  12. Jesus Christo. A team which is awful at keeping possession and is struggling in the centre of defence chooses to abandon it's counter attacking option (Townsend) and defensive mid cover (Drinkwater). Still at least we've got six players who can play in the hole, and 5/6 forwards! Oh and superstar Barkley.
  13. Ah, so the answer to my question was was a no then.
  14. I was under the impression that the Referendum didn't concern the banning of foreign investment?
  15. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-eu-referendum-36379934 EU referendum: White 'thug' poster aimed at black voters It features "an elderly Asian British woman being berated by an aggressive thug", according to Operation Black Vote's description. The campaign says it is meant to show everyone has the same voting power. But UKIP leader Nigel Farage described it as a "disgusting" example of "sectarian politics". And he accused Operation Black Vote, who he said he had previously supported, of "trying to divide society". "I want to engage people in all communities to get involved in our democracy but I'm afraid this poster is a really big mistake," he said
  16. Can't speak for K billy, But for me Wanyama, Pelle, Mane have been on the cards for a while now, Juanmi leaving wan't even a secret, Tadic was new even to me. As for the reasoning, as i speculated on a different thread, perhaps the club are getting nowhere in Koeman negotiations and want to ease in a new manager rather than let him see out his contract, which would mean no certainty for the players, and hoping a good coach/manager suddenly becomes available at the end of season. As i stated in the other thread, that is speculation based on the aftermath of the board meeting in the middle of our slump, not resulting from latest talks.
  17. Was that directed at me? Because I presented both sides arguments unedited, directly from the BBC website?
  18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-36331073 Number 10 downplays EU migrant figures Downing Street has sought to play down figures showing that EU workers in the UK have risen to a record 2.1 million. European workers now make up 6.8% of Britain's workforce of 31.5 million, according to recent figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS). Supporters of the Vote Leave campaign said the latest numbers were evidence of "uncontrolled migration". But the prime minister's office said the broader point was that the UK economy was growing.
  19. I lost mine while i was checking gas pipes in Manchester
  20. Bertrand will be approached. Klopp is a fan though. And no, I'm not trolling.
  21. I still remember that game, final day of the season, Southampton vs Portsmouth, with us needing just a draw to stay up, and them in 1st place in the Prem. The Fratton heroes had sold out our ground, all 32,000, but it was also half empty as we had stolen most of tickets back, and given them away for free to asylum seekers. The Noble warriors proceeded to smash us 20-0, while the 3 best players to ever live, Thierry Henry, AC Milan and Paul Merson, cheered on the bestest fans in world football from the sidelines. While Liam sold tickets for the after-party But then the Corrupt conspiracy of the FA and the Referees decided to punish them twice for the same crime, by altering the official (but not common knowledge) records, and altering everybody's memory of the events through military tech disguised as goal-line technology. Now only a few Independent thinkers at Fortress Fratton remember the true course of events.
