  1. The sad thing is that most fans don't actually give a **** about the finance. I went on Twitter after the program and less than a quarter of the posts backed Sugar whilst most claimed he was talking ********. Then Martin Samuel was knocking the programme in his column claiming that Sugar wasn't bringing anything new to the table and he'd pinched other peoples ideas. The truth of it is that football from the administrators of the game to the clubs and even the media is such an old boys network nobody is willing to risk being ostracized by the game, look what happened to the BBC after the agents programme. Everyone is riding the fans gravy train and is too scared to tell a few home truths.
  2. Although not a trained mechanic, i know my way around a car, my mechanic is 100% honest (he doesn't know the extent of my knowledge). I do agree that some may try it on but that's only a small percentage; let's not get all Daily Mail paranoid about it!! Its hard for garages to get it right 100% of the time, there is currently an argument raging on a forum i'm a member of between a highly recommended specialist and an enthusiast. The specialist is used to dealing with people who look after their cars and want things replaced that show wear rather than waiting until the part fails, whilst the enthusiast is complaining that he advised the replacement of a 'weeping' shock absorber stating it had loads of life left in it; who's in the wrong? A little knowledge can be a dangerous thing! As for the 2 year MOT i honestly fail to see how it can improve things, i see plenty of cars drive around for months with broken bulbs simply because the owner never checks, at least with the current 1 year system it's caught occasionally.
  3. Does anyone know where i can trace information about my grandfather William Clinton Murphy who worked for one or both of these companies in Woolston? He was sent over from Belfast with his brother to help with the war effort in the 1940's and continued working in the 50's, 60's and possibly the 70's and from memory he was associated with woodcrafts of some sort or another. He lived at 3 Sholing Avenue, Sholing for about 40 years. Any information or pointers would be appreciated.
  4. For local i'd say Truffles in Fareham is hard to beat, excellent quality French-style food on the right side of expensive, a beach cafe at the top of a hill overlooking a bay near to Kefalos in Kos, family style with simple, delicious freshly made snacks and desserts. But my favourite in the world is The Jaaning Tree in Nambucca Heads (between Sydney and Brisbane!) just the best food and the best location IMHO.
  5. Owned indeed.
  6. Sean St.Ledger is over-rated, CMS would be a great addition, beyond that i'll leave it to Nigel.

  9. Just so we're sure, not at all in a gay way?
  10. Dear BTF, I didn't realise it was a crime to appreciate a fine looking woman, the language used may be crude but the intention was to praise, if you can't see past the language then you're the one looking like a fool; i suspect you're the type of person to criticize swearing by intimating it's limiting the vocabulary when in actual fact the opposite is true. (thanks to Mr.T)
  11. Do you think Harry and Phillip double-teamed her over the throne?
  12. The best thing about the wedding?
  13. Oh yeah, because Presidents work out so well for other countries, imagine Boris Johnson, Diane Abbott or some other numpty as President!
  14. Here, here.
  15. Everybody loves a conspiracy. I don't know if our American cousins are stupid enough to elect Palin as President, but the fact it's mentioned scares me more than when Bush got re-elected, how much damage could she do in a term?
  16. I wouldn't blame any club for disliking Saints, let's face it, we do have alot of plums supporting us with all the 'inferiority complex' and 'sleeping giant' quotes they like to band around.

  20. Not a hard decision academically. http://www.guardian.co.uk/education/table/2010/jun/04/university-guide-art-and-design
  21. Some good news, apparently no burger vans or food establishments that serve from 'catering vans' this year, all food outlets are to be of the tented variety and have to offer sheltered seating. Not sure if true but good if so. I would imagine the Cider Bus will be OK!
  22. Possibly the greatest scriptwriter in British Television. RIP and thanks for the laughs. Del falls through bar hatch
  23. I was surprised by the nudity as well, not that i'm against it. Justified series 2 starts on Five USA tonight.
  24. Imagine - John Lennon, bloody pacifists.
  25. Try http://www.southalltravel.co.uk i've used them three times when booking flights to Australia and they've always found the best deals. I input dates of 10/01 -24/01 and it came back with £705 each inc.taxes via Schippol (Amsterdam) from Heathrow.
