Guardian blog article on last night and the wider implications
ericb replied to Minty's topic in The Saints
Oh and just to add to the travel thing i get the train down from London every game and have a season ticket and until this season did a large number of away games too. This season though i've not done a single away day since my top level i'll pay is £40 and the cheap games have been like gold dust. Not sure if that means i'm not loyal anymore though... -

Absolutely nail on head. And a special shout to those that stood on the open terrace at Swindon away watching us in our darkest hour. Oh and if you want real loyalty i think this man takes the biscuit http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10176603.107_year_old_has_been_following_Saints_for_100_years/ -
Good luck to him if he goes there, a proper club, with proper support and should they get back to the premiership probably a much more realistic chance of pushing on to the top 8 where they should be.

Just to put some of the baffling delusions in perspective, Everton in my life time have won the league in 1985, 1987, the FA CUP in 1984, 1995, the league cup in 1984 and the European Cup Winners cup in 1985 as well as being FA Cup finalists in 1986, 1989, 2009. Plus they' ve never been out of the top flight and seldom (mid 90s mainly) have been out of the top ten. Whereas in my lifetime the list of honours for us has included one FA Cup appearance, one league cup final appearance, one zds cup final appearance and the paint pot trophy. On top of this we've been relegated to the equivalent of the english third division. So using them as a comparison is so stupid that it's not even worth thinking about.

Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"

Been a lot more than that and a lot more recently than that to be fair -
Le Tissier: "Cortese is not a nice human being"

Completely agree with that. Word has it that'll be sooner rather than later -
One of my favourite Franny memories was him launching the Portuguese winger (can't remember his name but was a bit of a one season wonder) into the stands at Upton Park. A typical "Franny challenge" where he got the ball by taking a limb off the winger! Oh and don't forget his beauty of an own goal, against Bolton i think but the memory isn't what it was, a diving header into the bottom corner leaving Timmy helpless. As for being sh.it i still stand by the fact that he was one of the best man markers i've seen at Saints, there was a reason he was often tasked with following people like Cantona around the pitch, and it wasn't cause he was a violent thug! Now OOOOH Terry Hurlock, there WAS a man that could make widows of wingers wives!

Wow before you put that i was just going to blindly accept it, thank you so much for putting that, i mean really that's not patronising at all

I'm not sure he can play for the States, he's already had caps for England

Yup i remember that too, and always have a look out for their results. Can't go as far as saying they're my second team but it's nice to see them do well.

Pubs in London showing Saints v Chelsea...
ericb replied to Dibden Purlieu Saint's topic in The Saints
There's one in Barnett I've heard of but that's a massive trek for me as I need east due to work -
Sadly i know that, most of my mates i've been going with for years (since the mid late 80s) have stopped going. These people came back in force in the lower leagues but much like me really hate the premier league and just can't be arsed wasting their money on a soulless day out that's going to cost the best part of a ton and a half all in (and that's for the close games).
-
I have a £40 limit on a game of football, that counts for both home and away, if it goes above that then fu.ck 'em. As much as i love the game/day out i'm not encouraging those kind of prices for something that's becoming worse and worse with every year that passes (in terms of enjoyment for me as a day out and a laugh with my mates). Before we went up i was hesitant and skeptical about the premier league "experience" for the fans. Now we're here i pretty much hate all aspect of it. Still i'm fairly sure i'm actually in a small minority when it comes to this and the future is really the Arsenal style, quiet, servile, middle class fans who just want an afternoons entertainment.
-
Guess it would be the whole of the "home" part of the Northam since demand would be huge.

Goldie lookin chain on their tour made me want to burst my ear drums then burn down the place with everyone in it, comedy music is bad enough but white welsh people doing comedy rap to a room full of posh students is horrific. Only reason I went was cause the ticket was free and I felt massively ripped off at that price
-
Only watched a stream but the support sounded very loud through out. Guess it just shows how you can't tell when you're in the middle of it
-
Surely it wouldn't be that difficult to organise, split the batches in two and then ask people which they prefer, a bit of extra admin maybe but the amount of favour it's win from everyone would be superb customer service. Guess the only problem would be the online sales as the system probably wouldn't cater for an extra field so would cost more to implement.
-
I hate the premiership/sky etc too and have made my point by not going to any game priced over £40, if we all did it (and i mean by that all fans not just saints fans) then finally clubs would take notice.
-
I don't live too far from Highbury and watching the tourists traipsing to see them is embarrassing, and that's not even starting on the massive amount of plastic arsenal fans that i work with. It seems that every posh kid that moves to London these days "supports" Arsenal and when you speak to them about ticket prices they always go on about how it's "entertainment" and people shouldn't moan about ticket prices since that's what it costs. Seriously if that's the price your club pays to become a "global brand" like some on here want for saints then you can fu.cking stuff it. I'd rather watch us in league one with a real fanbase and sensibly priced tickets than compete in the champions league in a silent stadium full of plastics/tourists whilst i have to watch at home on a stream because i can't afford to go anymore. AGAINST MODERN FOOTBALL
-
I probably won't be able to afford a season ticket next season if we stay up, especially when you factor in the increase in train prices
-
From my generation - i'm about two years to young to remember the Keagan signing - Case, Armstrong, Flowers (though not after his first game when i thought we'd bought a howler of a keeper), Beattie, Pahars, Niemi, Lambert. Got a sneaky suspicion that Morgan will be much, much higher up the list in a few years to come. If we stay up, and if we keep him of course.

There's really not enough threads about anal rape here that's for sure. I reckon you'd be better off forcing the squad to do it to each other. You'd really learn something about team spirit then. In fact I reckon you could say the dressing room would smell like team spirit

Who we've been linked with for January thread...

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA WET SHAM!!!!! OH MY GOD HOW DID YOU EVER COME UP WITH COMEDY LIKE THAT? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA They must be so annoyed and quaking in their boots at that... Wet Sham! Wow. -
How can you love that picture it's clearly being ruined by hooligans lighting flares and if anything is the perfect example of everything that's wrong with the club. Flares are so dangerous and you can see children in the crowd there, i can't believe people didn't think of the children when lighting them.
