To sell rickie this window would be madness, he's been our top scorer for since he joined and outscored both of our english signings last season (both of whom are untested in the prem). For all we know this new fella might take time to find his feet and Rickie has already shown he can score in this league. I'd expect it to be far more likely that he'll be given till christmas, that way he has time to prove himself in the prem so his cost rises and see if he fits in the team, i'm sure Nigel wouldn't take the risk to start without him in the squad now. It smacks of paper talk, or maybe Rickie's agent trying to show that if he's not a first choice he'll be happy to move, whatever it is i'd be very surprised if it happened.
-
Then he probably wasn't watching the game properly since Guly was one of our more effective players. Mind you that doesn't really say a lot.
-
Even though i think it's going to be fu.cking tough and am seriously worried about our defence i personally think Clyne could prove to be the best player at our club at the end of the season - yup even better than Lallana - the nipper is immense and easily premiership quality.

I think it was pretty clear yesterday three of our back four probably aren't good enough for the premier league. If we sort that out we'll be a lot closer to staying up. Also it seemed to me the spell when we couldn't even touch the ball coincided with morgan dropping out of the game, oh and why the hell didn't we start puncheon? I've said from the start we'll be lucky to stay up this season but got shouted down, maybe now people are going to see it's not as easy as they think

Fulham should be alright to be fair, being a boxing day it means that there's no trains so i doubt you'll get as many daytrippers as usual and it'll be one of the cheaper games in london. I'm also a fan of spurs away, even if it's a ballache to get to it's normally a good atmosphere at WHL

To be honest i think we'll probably come very close to selling out wigan and will definitely sell out united, the fact it's slow now is all it is. But i do think it shows talk of expanding the stadium is probably just a pipe dream. There's nothing wrong with that of course, i'm perfectly happy with having 32,000 people watching saints play and anything else strikes me as delusions of grandeur. Now call that small time dell attitude or whatever you like but i really don't see why we can't just except our place in the football world and enjoy it for what it is. Or maybe that's all just a little to realistic?

Sweepstake on what minute the first patronising comment from sky will be
ericb replied to Turkish's topic in The Saints
For all bar 7 years of my life we've been a top flight side, of course we're one of the relegation favourites but as a club we're a premier league side. We've been there done it. City away has been done so many times that i couldn't be bothered today - i'm not paying almost £50 for a ground i've done before, besides i preferred maine road - that's why i don't want to see our mongs treat it like a cup final. It's nothing new, so get the fu.ck over it. -

Or we could just avoid be patronised by everyone as a plucky team that's up for a season by not treating games like a cup final, something which makes us look incredibly small time -

I really hope there aren't too many mongs dressed in fancy dress and facepaint since it makes us look so f.ucking small time, problem is there's a good percentage of our fans that just can't help but embarrass the club by being attention seeking dic.ks -
Really pleased about this draw, only 20 minutes out of kings cross so no time off needed, a new ground and will add to the arsenal away ticket. Anyone know when they go on sale?
-
Having seen the away ticket prices i actually can't wait for us to be relegated

Why not look for something on the east london line (overground) much more reliable than the tube and you can get more for your money in east london. Also there's far more places to go out and a much better standard of women!

We'll see in the long run i guess but i'd be very surprised if this was the final release, i'm guessing it's a first release to meet a deadline and they have certain KPI's to hit from it. Then from there there'll be a rolling release schedule to fix bugs and performance issues. Also the more "design related" issues are just people's tastes, and if the years i've spent in this industry teach me anything it's that initially people are scared of change, then with time they grow to like it and the cycle generally repeats over and over with each iteration (just look how people react to the smallest change on facebook).

yup but then that's banking, I work for the competition and can say for certain the quality of Sapient's output is very, very high. The thing most people here don't seem to get is that they've made a template for nigh on 80 sites in a short space of time with (i'd hazard a guess) a lot of pressure from the client. I'd personally say there's only a handful of agencies in the country that could handle that kind of work and fewer still that would have the resource to achieve it. Most average user doesn't appreciate just how hard it is to make a site and the niggles that are being argued about are minor in comparison to what has been achieved. Of course if we weren't stuck in a ****ty contract with the FL and could make our own bespoke site the quality would possibly be higher. But then again that depends on if we were willing to spend the substantial sums of money it would cost for a project that size, and anyway some on here would moan and say idiotic things that aren't founded in research and stats.

Sapient Nitro did it who according to the NMA top 100 (the industry standard) are the best digital agency in the country (and probably Europe too).
-
United's away support are the best in the country, if you want to slag off plastics look no further than teams like Reading who's support is mickey mouse in the extreme. As for half time entertainment, scores, birthdays and crappy tannoy music they play so loudly you can't hear anything but the fart of breaking speakers will do me.

Would be a really good move for him i think, he's probably at best a top of league one/bottom of championship striker and Bournemouth are on the up at the moment. Would be nice to see him get them promoted too, since after all the shi.t they've been through recently they deserve some success. Plus it's great to see other south coast sides (with the exception of the cheating skate cun.ts) do well.
-
Pretty much a perfect assessment as far as i see it, away at Reading he did change the game but for the most part he's nowhere near good enough. Really surprised by the love in there is for him in some sectors, especially given the abuse a far more effective player [Guly] gets.

Nope not at all, IE is technically behind everything else, even the latest version are at a guess about two years out of date (and i've worked with microsoft promoting IE9 and know this). Part of the reason it's slow and clunky in IE is that the browser quite simply can't handle modern websites and a lot of what is done for them is a hack by necessity. "making it work in chrome" really means nothing, since chrome and safari are fundamentally built from the same open source platforms that silently update and improve, the same as firefox, meaning that new technologies can be implemented faster and more seamlessly. The truth is we should be educating people not to use out of date technology when there's better alternatives for free, that mean people can fully take advantage of the web, protect their security and don't result in the thing i fear the most, a two tier web where many are left behind because of lack of knowledge. If you work in the industry you'll know that one of the biggest issues at the moment is the cross platform world and i really think microsoft have fu/cked up in not switching to the open source model when they had the chance around IE8. The problem is that MS see IE as a marketing tool drive sales of windows, so lock it down and use the old fashioned delivery cycle to achieve this. What's really sad is they're probably the best in the business at making affordable operating systems for all, and if they followed all the others in having silent updates on an open sourced platform then everyone would see a marked improvement of their experience and MS would ultimately make more money. Still the idea that it's just designers that think this way is one that's commonly held and frankly a bit dumb, would you recommend to a friend a moris minor when you can get a ferrari for free?

That's why you shouldn't use IE! It's a bulky horrible piece of crap of a browser that you have to hack to make it do anything. Pffft you know full well there's no such thing as the fold mate Gotta say on a tech level i think it's actually pretty decent, it makes use of a lot of new tech' and is well put together. They've obviously got teething problems with the roll out but i'd imagine it'll speed up a lot in a few weeks. It's one hell of a task to put together something that complicated for the best part of 80 sites so it's always going to have launch issues. Design wise i think it's pretty decent too, they've managed to make a single template that works across all the teams and looks professional and engaging, it's not going to set the world on fire but then i wouldn't expect it to as it's too broad level a brief due to the number of sites it has to cover. Oh and web 3.0? I can honestly say i've only heard that term in one place mate and you know where With mobile i think they've done the right thing, judged on content if it should be responsive or a separate site/app and gone from there.
-
I'm going to take a guess that you're looking at this on a low res monitor since on a hi res it gives it the space to breath properly. To be honest i'd imagine more and more sites will look "busy" for you as most design (for desktop) is moving towards higher res monitors. Also speed/performance will vary massively depending on browsers/bandwidth. I viewed it on chrome/safari/firefox on a mac and it was sharp and fast since it utilises a lot of new web technologies that aren't supported by poorer browsers (aka internet explorer). I do like the use of html5 canvas/raphael.js for the form table, might be overkill but it's still a nice touch.

Ah misread it, i thought you said you did the Premier League site, since i know VML did the last build of the Premier League site as i know someone that worked there, besides mate you know where i work anyway since you can just ask yaxley
-
You work for VML? To be fair there aren't that many local digital agencies that could do a good job on such a large project, also i'd imagine it's the usual problems of budget, stakeholders and timelines that dictate the quality of the project.

Are there really people on here arguing with someone who's living it is to actually judge young footballers? Seriously lads it's time for you to face facts, Monk knows more than us, that's why he's doing his job. It's really not a hard thing to fathom is it, you sit in the stands and he works for a club. My money is on him being more right than you. Mind you with the fu.cking crap that's spouted by some on here about players i often wonder if some have played more football than just in the playground since their knowledge is so dire (and no i don't count fm as having football knowledge)
