i'd have ****ing hated to have seen this place when branfoot was in charge, people would've been diving off the Itchen bridge in droves
-
Still think he flatters to decieve, no doubt he has pace and some trickery but his final ball is poor and he seriously lacks a football brain (or at least that's how it seems). Personally think he's a decent squad player but i'm keeping my fingers crossed that should we go up Wigan will go down so we can make a bid for Victor Moses. Since i think Moses is exactly the kind of player we need, and how fu.cking mouthwatering would it be to have a midfield of Lallana, Cork, Morgan and Moses [/dreaming]

Ah fair enough, was just wondering if it was based on radio really since i don't think it's a good way of judging. You have to admit though he really is a cut above most in this league, he just needs to learn a bit more directness.
-
Honest question here alpine, but how can you make comment like that when you don't watch the game? In my experience the radio commentary only gives you a tiny fraction of what's going on and there's no way you can tell a player via radio and tv appearances alone (unless it's man u/chelsea/barca who are on every week). For the record i do think he needs to learn to release earlier but he's still young and he's obviously desperate to make it happen, hence the extra touches. Give the lad some time and i'm sure he'll premiership standard, not a world better for sure but still very good at that level.

i forgot it was an evening kick off and haven't booked an early finish from work yet to make it down. Fingers crossed they're ok cause i really don't want to miss this one!
-
The one thing i would say about the drum though is that at least it kept some of our songs in time so they lasted longer. Instead of the usual speeding it up to the point that only an epileptic seal on amphetamines can keep up.
-
the palace "ultras" were one of the most embarrassing things i've seen at a football game. About 20 blokes ruining their own atmosphere by banging a drum and singing about two songs all game. No banter, no wit, no originality and laughable ****. And to think there were some on here that wanted us to do that.... ****ing dins
-
I really ****ing hope not.
-
And then we can follow it with the old words to the song, P. O. M. P. E. Y pompey fans can fuc.king die, with a nic nac paddywack give the dog a bone, pompey fans go running home.
-
Every single time we've played them in my lifetime i've heard **** like this, every single time it's been lies. Oh expect for the one time they decided to go and see and band before the game for some reason and well.... didn't go that well for them that day did it?
-
It's funny i've always seen this game as the one that splits the support, those born in southampton completely understand and get this and for them it means that little bit more. But for many that dont have that link (and by no means all) this isn't the same. They can happily say it's just a game since they don't get just what it does to the place. I'll never forget working at the old LSU before one of the saints pompey games and one of the old women that worked the cafeteria - who i'd never spoken to about football in my life - taking me aside and saying "i know you go to matches and really hope we stuff those scummers" (yup we called them that too). It's about so much more than football and the hatred runs a lot deeper than football. Growing up here you know that, you get it at school, in the streets and at work. Of course it's 3 points, but it's also the dirty fu*cking cheating skate bas*tards and st mary's needs to be a cauldron of hate for them again. Let's not let them forget we're sending them down, hopefully fu*cking their club up for a generation and most importantly getting revenge!
-
No it's not, that's quite clearly bull**** and everyone knows that. It's much more than a ****ing game, it's 7 years of frustration built up watching those cheating c*nts get away with it and lord it over us. Well now is time for revenge and to put another nail in their coffin.
-
I can't think of a bigger derby game in my lifetime (and i include '84), win and we're in touching distance to the top flight again. Add to this that we can effectively send them down to league one. Also we owe them big style for the last few games and there's the outside possibility it could the last derby game against them (in this guise) and at the very least the last for potentially a generation due to league placings.
-
My first saints game was in '84 and i grew up in bevois valley/st marys, i'm also only half english and think that the media is far more dominated by right wing bull**** in my experience. So it's great to see you being wrong in every department.
-
Tell you what mate if you don't think it's racist head down derby road and call someone there a paki and see what happens. As for being a bit dumb well yeah you are. It's a well known insult that only a tiny percentage of people don't think is insulting, the word may be a literal shortening of what it is but it's taken on a different meaning now as many words do (see gay for example, though i'd hazard a guess you probably dislike that too).
-
Because it's been used as a term of insult towards anyone from the indian sub continent and surrounding areas for as long as i can remember and anyone how things otherwise is either a racist themselves or slightly mentally challenged
-
Good shout, also We'll **** on your grave, We'll **** on your grave. When you c*nts go bankrupt We'll **** on your grave or so we can use it at other games, We'll **** on their grave, We'll **** on their grave. When pompey go bankrupt, We'll **** on their grave

If we go up, what away games would you want to go to?
ericb replied to kwsaint's topic in The Saints
Would love to see that even if i probably would miss out on a few as i didn't do many in league one, but imagine the *****ing from the part timers on here if that did happen -

I'll do all the london ones as i live here, will give Villa a miss as i've done a ****load and hate it as an away day. Fancy Norwich as i've never been & if i can afford it a couple of the northern ones at least (probably liverpool since i've not done Anfield). Would love to do Newcastle if i can afford it since it's a ****ing brilliant night out, but would have to do it for the weekend. -
Ahh the good old days of getting the milton an hour and a half early to "take up space" so you could still see when people came in. Meant **** all really since everyone just squeezed into their normal spots anyway but it was still part of the ritual.

I love de ridders effort and he's obviously a likeable guy, but i can't help but think his football brain needs work. Too often he runs at people like a headless chicken when a simple ball would give so much more. I'm sure this is something that can be worked on but it does confuse the hell out of me that he doesn't get the abuse that say Puncheon or Guly get when he makes many of the same errors (drifting in and out of games, giving the ball away cheaply, a shocking shot at times etc.). Still he's provided important moments and is great from the bench, not convinced he'll make the grade in the Prem (and let's be honest we're going there) but i'll be happy to be proved wrong.

Yesterdays match against Doncaster set me thinking, the last time we played them was probably the lowest ebb (in a non footballing perspective) i can remember as a saints fan. Boycotts of the club; sub 18,000 crowd; going down to league one; protests during the game; saints fans fighting saints fans; facing admin and perhaps not having a club; an atmosphere of desperation and anger everywhere. Roll on to yesterday and i realised how far we'd come, a full stadium, top of the league, smiling faces all around me and a feeling of positivity from all around. In fact i actually did something i don't normally do, standing in the Northam i'm normally singing and shouting after a goal, but after the first yesterday i stopped for a couple of minutes just to look around me and take it in. And god i'm glad i did, what a change, what a club, what a team and what a manager. So thank you Nigel, Markus and the players, it's good to have Southampton football club back and i for one won't forget where we've come from or how close we went to not having it.
-
Not commenting on sharp but for de ridder it's because they play in different positions and Guly is our second highest scorer, not really that difficult to work out if you engage your brain a bit.
-
I'll be really ****ed if i miss this one, reckon i'll have notched up between 14-16 aways this season by the end of it but i'm waiting on being paid. The club should definitely have done this as season ticket/most aways first to thank those of us that have put in the miles this season. The combination of an easy away and the sniff of success may see some miss out though which is a real mistake in my opinion
-
Definitely agree that those of us that kept season tickets through the championship & league one should get a bigger discount, would be great to see them charge the JCL's more even for an individual ticket somehow but i don't think it's possible.
