  1. All this talk about "JWP would be stupid to go there" - he absolutely will want to go if he gets more wedge. Wouldn't any of us go to a new job if offered a significant payrise? Wouldn't it be stupid to say "He works at Tesco, there's no way he will be interested in going to Sainsburys"? If he is getting more wedge, he's going to go. More money + being sold the story of the ambitions Villa have (whereas Saints appear to have little ambition) + potential chance to play with higher profile players and get a place in the england squad - all solid reasons to go to villa
  2. It's a real shame but we all know there's little hope of saints spending all the potential transfer fee on players. They'd probably spend £10-£15m of it on an unproved option. Gone are the exciting summers of Koeman in the transfer market when he was backed and we still had ambition!
  3. yes perfect description. For example, perfectly describes the embarrassing loss away v WBA
  4. The thing that gets me with this modern tendency to amalgamate the mother and father's surname is where does it end? For instance, what would happen if a ward-prowse and a wright-phillips had a child together?
  5. most of the game was a snore bore, but having had so many heartaches following england, I'll take it for sure. Was moaning before the game that southgate had picked Philips, but he surprised me with a very good performance. Put James in at LB and move Trippier over to RB please. Walker struggles to make even the most basic of passes.
  6. such an autist response 😂 ah well, what difference does it make?
  7. Yeah and just because you say you aren't a woke snowflake doesn't mean you aren't pal
  8. Leave off the word "effectively" and I think you're even closer to the truth!!
  9. Yep, agreed. We are reaping the rewards of no investment. Really not looking forward to next season as things stand.
  10. Considering Villa were extremely fortunate to survive in the prem the season before last and we were comfortable mid table - it has taken exactly 1 season for the tables to turn
  11. Yep correct and can see us being in Bolton's current position in a year or two
  12. and/or a golf course
  13. Yep this is nail on the head. I feel we have one top-six level striker, then the rest of the attacking unit is good mid-table level. Defensive unit is relegation material.
  14. You obviously did considering your user name
  15. Spot on. Points tally of 18th placed team: 42 - 1 40 - 2 39 - 1 38 - 2 37 - 1 36 - 5 35 - 1 34 - 4 33 - 5 30 -1
  16. RIP Frank, loved watching you down the dell. Special, special player
  17. Couldn't agree more. This is the reason I started following lower league / non league football a few years back. Those clubs are connected to community and generally you watch them for the love of the game and the crack, not some corporate sham or some misguided hope that Saints can actually challenge the big 6 in some sustained fashion. You're exactly right "might occasionally have a good season but may also get relegated the next". In fact, we seem able to do both those things in the same season. A year or so back, I went to watch Brentford v Blackburn. Was absolutely cracking game and atmosphere. Old time ground with a pub at each corner and both sets of fans enjoying a beer before and after the game. Sadly Griffin Park is no more and even a team like Brentford has moved away from it's core community. Very sad. Can't wait to get back to ground hopping - experiencing football as it was it intended.
  18. Ralph is being shown up for what he is - a one trick pony. He's not able to adapt to situations at all. When Newcastle lose a man Bruce takes a striker off, puts a defender on and all men behind the ball. Not rocket science is it? All this talk about lack of investment. Well Newcastle haven't had any yet it doesn't lead them to a 9-0 defeat does it? Blame squarely with Ralph. He's also too nice. Needs to show some bollocks. Two highly embarrassing shows in 2 games. 13 goals shipped in 3 games.
  19. right so people aren't allowed to get on the dickhead's back after he gives it all large then lets his team down inside 2 mins. Guy is a fucking joke
  20. nah, give the knob head his transfer. stupid twat
  21. what an absolute twat. lost us the game before it even starts
  22. I always remember how he set that goal up for Long at Anfield in the semi final. Was class.
  23. For anybody interested, I listened to a nice BBC podcast with Nigel the other day https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p08qy9kn
  24. That is marvellous. Good job Rod Stewart missed that sitter just prior to the goal.
  25. And then end up with 3 deadwood players on the wage bill who we can't get rid of 🙂
