  1. Can't beat a few cans of Carlsberg Special Brew.
  2. Latest relegation odds from Oddschecker: Blackpool 4/11 Wigan 3/4 Bham 5/6 Wolves 8/1 Blackburn 12/1 Wolves and Blackburn are rightly quite long. 2 of the other 3 have to win for either of them to be threatened. Interesting that Goal Difference is so key here (like it was for us and Huddersfield). I always think that when you go say 3-0 up with 10 mins left that is the time to defend hard (don't let them get a soft consolation goal after 92 mins) and/or really push on for some more goals. You never know when the odd +1 or +2 may come in handy...
  3. Disagree. If fanbase ever becomes the criteria to play in the top-flight then we may as well ditch the whole idea of relegation/promotion and have a closed league. A lot of the years that Saints were in the top flight we didn't always fill our relatively small stadium and often took small away support compared to a lot of teams. Does that mean we should have been kicked out? Course not. Fair play to the Wigan fans who do go along and support their hometown football team. They only got into the league in 1978 and being a rugby town (and with Liverpool & Manchester on the doorstep) it is pretty obvious why they don't have a big support. Personally I'd much rather have a beer with one of them than some non-Yorkshire accented Leeds fan who thinks that Leeds deserve to be in the top flight. This all said I won't cry any tears if Wigan do go down - but if they get enough points to stay up then they deserve to be in the Prem. Simple as that.
  4. Sounds good... Though like you say - if you are abroad - it's easier just to fork out for SaintsPlayer. I mainly get SP for the radio commentaries. In recent weeks there has been that excellent one on Justin but is this guaranteed to happen every week? My only gripe is the quality of the Solent coverage. Mainly that they seem proud to turn DOWN the crowd noise of any game with a great atmosphere. 'Sorry for the loud crowd - we are doing our best to mute it out so you can hear us properly'. I personally prefer it the other way round. The sound of the crowd bellowing out of the speakers with the commentators just about audible. Solent - take a note. At least turn the crowd up a bit more than you currently do. It's what makes a game.
  5. Quality pic! The direct link is: https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_ATOFQrZa3g4/TcWokG3xHeI/AAAAAAAACWc/F8UWCpVsO3Q/s720 (on most browsers it'll shrink it - click on it to zoom in)
  6. Keep the pics & vids coming. Really good that SFC let the crowd get on the pitch for an old-school celebration. Everyone goes home happy and will be back for more next season. Did many Walsall get on the pitch as well? Glad they stayed up.
  7. Fair play mate - and I bet those missed friendlies really bug you. Plus you are probably the only person who can call me plastic for not making any games whilst living in the USA (though to be fair you did only make the home Saturday games when you lived in Philly - pretty poor effort really...)
  8. Don't really care as long as it ain't the MK Dons. Despise them. Strangely enough I kinda want Bournemouth out of the other 3. Having Saints, Pompey, Brighton & Bournemouth in the same league would add good hype to the season. Chuck in Reading as well and then you really do have a mini South Coast League within a League. Just who would South Today focus on the most?
  9. Well this year Championship games in the USA were shown on Fox Soccer Plus (a $15 a month subscription channel). This channel also shows some Premier League games and f###kin rugby (why? FFS it's called a 'soccer' channel - I digress). Check with your TV provider. Some cable companies don't carry it. On Directv it is on Channel 621 (and HD on 621-1). Championship games weren't in HD this year but praps next year? We'll see... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fox_Soccer_Plus for more info, links etc...
  10. What a brilliant season! For us ex-pats living in the USA it should mean we get some TV games next season. USA TV currently seems to show any Championship game that is live on TV the UK (ie we get the Norwich game today and have had loads of other ones this season). What about in other parts of the world - do you get Championship games on TV? Here's to Saints v Pompey at 7am on a Sunday morning. Can't wait.
  11. Plymouth match thread: http://pasoti.co.uk/talk/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=54177 Almost feel sorry for them. Well did until someone said 'scummers'.
  12. Now that is done perhaps Obama can get on with the real business of the day and kill the UIGEA.
  13. You do know that MI6 are monitoring web traffic for comments exactly like that don't you? Your ip address has gone near the top of the pile with a comment like that. If there are any strange knocks at your door over the next 24 hours then answer it naked with your hands above your head. If not then I reckon you're as good as brown bread. Go careful.
  14. Thanx badgerx16 - that did exactly what I wanted. Click where you want the edit to start/end & hit save. Simple. Then 'append file' to join them together. Worked a treat. Whilst I'm asking about video's anyone got any good advice about how to shrink the size of an .avi file? ie how/what to convert it to? (I don't mind losing a bit of quality).
  15. Not complex at all. Mainly just want to script out some short clips from longer videos. Then join these short clips to make a 'best of' one. Well I assume this isn't seen as being complex anyway! I know there's a lot of stuff out there to do this sort of thing but was looking for some recommendations. Thanks - will try out Avidemux.
  16. Does Solent's internet stream remain on during a game in the UK then? I always seem to remember it getting turned off over there as well? Does Lamina work with Betfair and/or Pokerstars (that getting shut down to USA players last week totally sucked - it's done by IP as well as account location). Anyway if you are overseas I think that it is worth forking out for Saints player. The commentaries work fine most of the time and you can see the goals a day or so after the game. Big game today. It feels very wrong listening to a game at work at 10am on a Monday morning though.
  17. Can anyone recommend some free video editing software? What is the video equivalent of Audacity (that is excellent for music). ie something that lets you split video files, join them together etc.
  18. Come 5pm Monday Saints will be above Huddersfield. Trust me - Saints are going up in 2nd place.
  19. [video=youtube;-fX4ZcYxKII] Not much room in The Archers that day...
  20. Of course they will be giving it plenty. What do you expect them to do - wish us good luck? At this stage at the season you can make a case for good/bad things against any team you play (they need points to go up/down, have nothing to play for etc). Saints to win 3-1. Going up, up, up!
  21. The games are running out (for the other teams - not Saints!). A desperate 'n' dirty 3 points was all that was required today. Mission accomplished. Whether we are playing Brighton (title winners) or Plymouth (praps relegated) it ain't gonna be easy - but there's no reason at all why Saints can't win all their remaining 5 games. Here's to going up! up! up!
  22. Wow - that top of the 11th by the Reds was worth staying up til 1.30am for. What a game. What a win.
  23. It's not actually too bad when you live here. A quick look at this: http://cincinnati.reds.mlb.com/schedule/broadcast/index.jsp?c_id=cin shows that there aren't too many Reds away evening games over on the West Coast (ie starting at 10pm ET). Finished at 1am last night and at this moment in time (2-2 at the start of the bottom of the 9th, a lead out double and no outs for SD) I'd take a 2am Reds win! COYR.
  24. Good win for the Reds last night. A bad start and a tense end but the win was got. After blowing a 5-0 lead the day before it was important to get back on track. COYR - same again tonight will do nicely. Though can we make it so the game only lasts an hour or 2. Timezones suck.
  25. http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2011/04/07/earlyshow/main20051622.shtml?tag=contentMain;contentBody Looks like you've got to be a bit careful when traveling to away games... I wonder what the full story to this was? Generally speaking it is all pretty safe. I've been to some NFL games as an away fan. There is no segregation and although you are tolerated it ain't the most enjoyable day out. Would be way, way better if you had your own away fans section like we are used to back in England.
