Delgado was a good player though... just with a bad work ethic and attitude and a dodgy knee. In terms of talent and ability, he was a good player.
-
Morgan goes missing in crappy games on crappy pitches against crappy teams in crappy conditions. Against better opposition, he is a different man to the Morgan we see against crap teams who park 11-men behind the ball. That's why I think next season will suit him better.
-
Are assists Morgans primary aim, in the position he plays? Should we also judge Fonte on assists?
-
I think he will have a huge part to play this season and will be better suited to this league than league 1, due to the time he will have on the ball. I don't really care that he doesn't score or provide assists, as IMO that's not what he is there for. He is a playmaker, he sits at the back of midfield working as the engine of the team, creating chances for other people to get forward. He will be key this season.
-
That's what I worry about, as our 'fans' will immediately dismiss it as a bad move if they aren't playing in the top tier in Europe somewhere.
-
Michael Owen. Oh, hang on... Skacel.
-
Absolutely. You don't talk to strikers if you're not interested in strikers. Who though, is the question, given who we have discounted so far and who has already moved on.
-
Sums up my thoughts quite nicely. And Crouch didn't do too badly for us either, for a Skate... I'd love to see Nugent here, I think he would be a good partner to Rickie. I do think he would need some time and TLC from NA to get the best out of him, since I don't think he is in the best place mentally, but that's where NA shines. What I wouldn't enjoy is the idiots in our fanbase giving him stick for being an ex-Skate. That's pretty much a certainty.

I sometimes worry when players are far too keen to come here, as if its a great opportunity for them, as it comes across like a promotion. What we want is players who are better than we have now, better than we may be expected to aim for, who we need to sell the club and its ambitions to in order to convince them to join, rather than offering a promotion to somebody at a similar or lower level.
-
Even if that is with clauses, its more than many clubs in the CCC would be willing to invest in Cork. I think its a good deal at that price, however its structured, not just because he is a good player but also because young English talent will increase in price big time over the next few years.
-
Do we know for certain that £750k is the price? Or is the forum / paper talk? It could be that every other club has bid, but we have bid more than them all to meet the asking price.
-
To be fair, they also think Portsmouth is a nice place to live and a fish is a decent substitute for a lady, so I wouldn't take their words too seriously.

iF THEY DONT' WANT TO PLAY FOR SOUTHAMPTON WE DON'T WANT THEM FFS

If this winds you up, you're on the wrong forum. In fact, staying off forums generally sounds like a good idea. You may explode. -
Will be decided at a tribunal, due to his age and being a product of our academy.
-
Alan Shearer. What tosser came up with that nonsense.

CMS seems to be able to create something out of nothing, which is an ability we've long lost. Having a goal scorer is great, having a striker great, but having somebody who will fight every minute and can create chances out of nothing, that's invaluable and that is where, IMO, CMS shines. We wont survive the CCC on set pieces alone.

It's the 'Yet' bit that bothers me. He clearly has talent, he has shown quality in spells, but he is still young and has a way to go. What's the point in investing millions in our academy if we're going to sell half-developed players so early on. If he clearly isn't ever going to make the grade, fine, but he hasn't shown that yet, even though he isn't the finished product.
-
Did you not get the hand-written and personally addressed letter detailing his appointment and position within the club? No? They obviously don't care about you then.
-
Best reply to anything, anywhere, in a long time. Good effort, Sir.
-
It's nice to be back in a position where being associated with us, whether made up or real, is seen as a positive career move. Can't blame a lad for dreaming.
-
I think the key to success is building a team that play and think as a team, keeping the quality we have already and adding quality to the weaker areas. AOC is quality and has always performed well for us, so the 'problem' isn't timing, it's not value, it's how do we keep hold of him. That's our only problem with AOC and should be our only focus. IF it becomes absolutely clear his heart and head are no longer with us, then the focus turns to getting the quickest, best-value deal and moving forward from there. But this should certainly not be the focus of anybodies attention until we are confident we cannot keep him with us.
-
Too good to play regularly for a promotion chasing team in League 1 on the way to the CCC on form, but perfectly good enough to warm the bench and occasionally start for a poor 'Premiership team' (laughing as I say that) on bad form, fighting relegation on the way to the CCC. End result, failure and playing in the CCC, as opposed to success and playing in the CCC.

Get in! Well done Huddersfield. Way ahead in the league and won tonight... only just, but I'm glad they went through.
-
On the flip side, it has created a competitive and entertaining game. All it needed was consistency, which stopped with the red card.
-
I really want Huddersfield to win. They have pushed us for the last two seasons, been there or thereabouts consistently, their fans are decent, the club has a decent setup and they deserve some success.
