  1. On the face it, this is a valid concern to raise. Where I’d question voting leave because of it is, how many people could point to actual individual EU laws passed that they have problems with? Otherwise it’s just a “it seems bad” feeling. Provide a list of EU laws that got through that are bad and got through solely because we didn’t have enough power to hold Brussels to account. Then it becomes a proper debate.
  2. You poor man. Poached or scrambled eggs on toast is a banging breakfast, have that at least once a week.
  3. That’s just a moronic response.
  4. We have to consider the differing perceptions though. While I have demonstrated my contempt for loss of freedom of movement and quoted just one minor nature of my first hand experience , others may see it as a genuine Brexit benefit as it means that we’re not at the mercy of those foreigners coming over here ever summer and picking our strawberries. The fruit picking job market for UK nationals is at an all time high.
  5. It’s not actually £7 a trip, it’s £7 for ETIAS which lasts for 3 years. But nonetheless it’s another Brexit benefit to add to the list. EES coming in this November.
  6. I was reading the other day about how catered chalet ski holidays have demised so much since Brexit. Previously thousands of young adults did a ski season by working for a major tour operator. I myself did a couple of winter seasons, not in a chalet but definitely one of my better life experiences. These days most of the tour operators stipulate they’ll only employ EU passport holders. The working window is less than 6 months and the costs/risks to get visas sorted just doesn’t stack up. As such the catered chalet has become a rarity, and getting other jobs in the mountains has become much trickier. It was an industry dominated by Brit holiday makers but has become so much more difficult to staff it with Brit youngsters, so they’re recruiting from around Europe instead. Such a shame. The hope was always that a simple temporary visa scheme would be set up to replicate the previous arrangement but of course that didn’t happen.
  7. Just use scan as you go ffs. Then you're all bagged up by the time you get to checkouts, just have to pay. Besides, the Sainos near me only ever has about 1 or 2 checkouts that are staffed and the queues for it are enough to put you off.
  8. I know they're planning for a 'soft-launch' of this over 6 months from November, but I can only see it causing utter chaos at the borders. It's failed time and time again throughout the testing period and timescales have just gone back and back. Dover is going to be a lot of fun throughout the school holiday periods.
  9. Ah well. It was a nice week off.
  10. Man up you absolute snowflake. "Marxist unions" 🤣 what an absolute helmet.
  11. He’s all but gone from what was going round today, left out of the squad in advance of a move away. Rumours he may go to Saudi ffs.
  12. To be fair, you’ve built up a reputation for it. On another note, I don’t know who the ‘pundit’ was on telly but he was obviously from the north east and couldn’t hide his bias. It was a cringeworthy performance at times from someone who couldn’t even pretend at neutrality. No doubt that Chilean Ben had a spectacular tumble of the ‘headbutt’ but it was utterly stupid by the Newcastle defender. Said pundit was outraged, saying BBD had conned the ref, he’d conned VAR, and it was just staggering that common sense hadn’t prevailed. He then spent much of the second half praising the barcodes for being ‘clever’, taking time off the clock, going down to ease down a few seconds, and basically hat tipping some of the downright shittery that was going on.
  13. 1 shot on target, 1 goal. Sounds familiar.
  14. I’m choosing to focus on everything up to the sending off. We looked controlled, got at Newcastle but kept it tight, looked like we could cause 5hem problems and snatch something. A really good first 30 minutes. I really didn’t like the change RM made at half time, I think it made us more limited and predictable. Will be interesting seeing us 11 v 11 against Forest. I found Newcastle underwhelming throughout but as I say, very encouraged by us for the first 30 all things considered. Still think we’re limited up top though.
  15. At least once, yes, he was snapped in the clinic for one of them. And he’s still got a bald spot.
  16. Even looks like Smallbone is telling him to do that. Theres definitely a way to pass it out to the left from there but it’s the risky option given Newcastles high line. The wrong decision made and executed spectacularly badly.
  17. I’d have to say yes, it very much was. We know he’s crap with the ball at his feet, granted. But he was in a relatively comfortable position and basically made an atrocious pass. Here’s the screenshot. AMC not under massive pressure but delivers it right to the feet of number 14 (Isak). He may be being instructed to pass but yes, that’s a very bad error irrespective IMO.
  18. Definitely this. I thought he was creating all sorts of problems. And although BBD 50p headed one cross, that looked like it might it might be a productive supply line. Also thought KWP was brilliant first half, just popping up everywhere.
  19. Not today that’s for sure. We got 0.86 less than that 😪
  20. Tbf he’s done alright to not publicly dig him out too much, and he does say he recognises that the mistake will be the narrative. I reckon he’d have been ok saying ‘it was a mistake and Alex has held his hands up’ but we know that’s not really RM’s style in front of the cameras. Just hope that such a glaring eff up so early in the season and so detrimental to our result has hardened resolve to get a keeper in this window.
  21. Howe and Martin interviews are up on BBC. Russ not blaming AMC but blaming the players overall for taking their foot off the gas. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/live/c2041nprd9nt
  22. Literally nobody said that having a man off means you lose, but ok 👍
  23. The Nathan Jones school of common sense 👌
  24. Because you said having a man off is to a great degree irrelevant. Having a man sent off actually has a significant effect on a game. The level of significance varies from whatever your source data is. But heres a quote from the first study I called up. On average, having a home-team player sent off was found to reduce the points the 10-man home team obtained from the game by 0.8631. Similarly, having an away-team player sent off increases the points of the 11-man home team by an average of 0.3529. Note the former number is over twice as large as the latter. This suggests that the negative impact on the home team's points from having one of their own players sent off is more than twice as large as the positive impact from having a player from the opposition team dismissed. In other words, a home team suffers a lot more from having a player expelled than it gains from having an extra man.
  25. 😆 No, that’s not what I said either, is it.
