Leon Osman started today instead of Barkley (came on as sub) I'm sure they can work something out. Slightly differing positions but then can line up with a good attacking midfield without really dropping much in quality.

This from a Stokie: Ref having a shocker. Stoke were 1-0 up and cruising, Whelan sent off for two yellows, neither were. Penalty to Newcastle (it was), another debatable red. Penalty saved, up the other end, clear handball by Williamson, ref misses it, straight up the other end Newcastle score for 1-1. Awful reffing. Hughes has been sent to the stand too. All before half time!!

Playing against 9 men makes you look a little better than normal.

JRod has got some serious scoring to be done if he wants to get on the plane; that was an opportunity to get a tiny chance and he didn't take it. Roy has already said that there will be no more surprises in the squad, and JRod would be an enormous surprise. Not out of the question but I wouldn't think he had the slightest chance. Same reason why Luke Shaw has no chance. Kieran Gibbs is the de facto third choice LB. JRod's goal scoring form for us since the England game has, hats off, been brilliant.
