  1. I think we can be the biggest club in the world within 3 seasons. Four at most. They said man would never climb Everest, and that man couldn't walk on the moon. So WTFILN at those preposterous statements. This is our time. Forget that we're a global minnow and have to usurp other clubs with vast resources much in excess of where we'll ever be. Forget that other clubs have a rich history of the last 50 years which has earned them their global support. Irrelevant, especially when we move to a 45K stadium (even if we can't fill it). Bring it on, I can't wait. What an epic journey, League 1 to Champions League in half a decade. Nik Nak
  2. Poor old MLG has had a dreadful past few days on here.
  3. Apparently the St. Mary's stadium announcer pronounces it "Font". So I guess that's a decent guess as to how it should be pronounced.
  4. Considering we nicked it off Palace, who sung it before us when they had Fonte playing for them, I don't think we can lay any sort of claim to it.
  5. That's the black and white of it, but there are thousands of shades of gray in between. Agenda doesn't come in to it (at least for most sensible people it doesn't).
  6. So true. It's like ten thousand spoons....
  7. I wholeheatedly agree, Diggo. Just relaying the only first hand info I have, and others can make their own choice. You have a PM btw (how exciting!!)
  8. I know and have spoken to a couple of people that have had business dealings with Mr Cortese for the transfer and loan of players. Clearly I will not be detailing exactly who, although a few people on here are aware of this information. The tales I have heard do not follow Gemmel's contact's experience, in fact the complete opposite. But then I've often been accused of having an anti-Cortese agenda, so I'm probably best off ignored.
  9. Hilarious stuff.
  10. Actually he is. Or he was up to the point of takeover. He hosted the Ambassadors Suite, the highest end of the Corporate spectrum at St. Mary's. Having experienced it myself it was, all credit, a fantastic experience. And unsurprisingly it was sold out week after week, even in spite of the hundreds of pounds cost. Currently we don't have anything similar, and the corporate areas are a shadow of their former selves (hence the relatively low takeup of them).
  11. Here's how it was reported. On Le Tissier, a one-club man afforded hero status by the Saints fans, he said: 'I don't even know him, he's never met me. 'Anyone in the past who is associated with the club is stirring negativity towards me should probably ask if it's beneficial for the club. I would not allow myself to judge someone I have never met.' As Frank says, you can either take that statement literally or (should you desire) form some other meaning of your own.
  12. Neither did suddenly sacking our previous manager; quite possibly the worst PR we've had as a club for quite some time.
  13. Yes; you need to be pigeon-holed into being part of the rabid, seething anti-Cortese hate mob.
  14. MLT has already offered to sit down with NC and witnesses to thrash things out.
  15. You're genuinely suggesting the Echo has never said anything positive about Cortese's impact since being here? I'll leave it there if that's the case. Crikey.
  16. You clearly don't read the paper if you stand by your comment "can't remember last time I picked one up for a bit of positive saints reading". They print some negative stuff, of course they do. Its vastly outnumbered by positive news stories. Just go on the Echo webiste, find their Saints page and look.
  17. Well we can pick the bones out of it all day whether it's right for the club to ostracise the Echo 2 years after a very minor transgression. Probably fair to say that neither party made themselves look good from the spat. That said, if you're going to shut out the local media in such a way I don't think you can have any sort of complaint if the local media decide to take a harsher line on their reporting. But if you think the Echo don't do positive reporting then I don't think you actually read it, or only see what you want to see.
  18. Seriously; you have to ask?! Let's think about it. The Echo is a local newspaper that has been barred from the club premesis (stadium and training ground) for a couple of years, has been refused any access to staff and players for all that time, and generally been treated with less than contempt by the club. Given all that, are you really surprised that they choose to print good and bad news stories, despite how relatively minor news they are at times?
  19. The typical cry-babies out in force complaining that the Echo aren't being all nice and fluffy with their reporting. Give them some access and maybe they wouldn't feel the need to report stuff like this. Jim Steele was one of Lawrie's guests when I did Ambassadors Lounge a few years back (when corporate entertaining at St. Mary's used to be good). Great host, he got up and told a few stories and gave everyone a good laugh. Its to the club's chaigrin that they don't look to improve the supporters' experience by having ex-players around the place; that's what corp entertaining is much about.
  20. LLLLLLDDDLLLLL Spectacular form.
  21. Well it looks like Pompey are doing a remarkable job of trying to get relegated even without the 10 point deduction. Just have to hope that, if they do survive, the takeover is protracted enough such that the minus ten gets applied next season; a few weeks propping up the table of the fourth division seems quite a comedy addition to this whole saga.
  22. Today's Fratton Park attendance: 10,981. Pack the Park.
  23. Terrible analogy. Giggs, Scholes and Nani are not regular first choice players for Man United; they've only started 17 league games between the three of them this season.
  24. The US English is railroad station. Train station is common between English and US English. railway station is simply the more formal term.
