  1. We’ll put it this way, he has zero votes in the MOTM poll. It was his goal, but he was trying to get out of the way of Tella’s shot and got a brush on it. Personally I thought he was fairly anonymous, didn’t give enough of a focal point up front, didn’t really get the ball in dangerous areas. Thankfully Adams came on to get the winning goal. Not sure that Armstrong’s best role is up top on his own, on that showing he’s certainly not the answer to our striking woes.
  2. The context is that Russell Martin joined the pundits pitchside after the game, Franny asked him a question and called him Martin. It was just an error by Fran, quite humorous to see but he’d have had a word with himself for doing it.
  3. Waking up with a nice glow about the result and performance is a strange feeling! Well tougher tests than that and likely lose a few players (and matches) but I really, really enjoyed that last night. It was frustrating at 1-1 and I’m still concerned about our options up front, but overall it was a huge positive step, just complete domination of a league game. Thoroughly good stuff and Rusty Martin seems like a good egg.
  4. I’m with the refs on this, I think the constant abuse of refs has got worse over the years where it’s now almost considered acceptable. And as Gramps says, loads of refs don’t want to do grass roots level because of the abuse they get, the example set comes from the very top. I’d noticed in the past few years that Saints were absolutely complicit in the shithousery of kicking the ball away after getting whistled for a foul, so we’re hardly getting harshly treated now for it. Tella, I can understand it’s harsh but if it goes some way to stopping the ridiculous confrontations that refs often get for making decisions, so be it. If managers can also be reigned in from constantly slagging off decisions all the time in their post match reckoning (rather than addressing their own failings), that would also be a step forward.
  5. Holy hell, I just made the mistake of reading that Kermit prat’s previous posts. He makes alpine saint look like a happy clapper. Must be such a depressed soul to have a continual miserable outlook like that, what a whopper.
  6. Yep, he definitely did, not Fran’s greatest moment!
  7. Have you posted the league table?
  8. Dave Prutton is a very decent presenter.
  9. It didn’t seem that way from his response, it was the most awkward laugh ever then a bland “I’m taking it game by game” statement. From that, he wants to go, and nobody can blame him. Sounds like he’s got an offer there, just whether it’s enough money for the club to accept.
  10. JWP was excellent of course but I went KWP, first half especially he was brilliant. Lovely to vote when we haven’t been terrible!
  11. Let’s do this again.
  12. I prefer it to backs to the wall panic defending.
  13. Stop talking about your Willy like that.
  14. Get in there Che. Missed that all game.
  15. He hasn’t got anyone better. I think Adams offers a bit more as someone to play it into, but they’re both limited. Tall Paul, no. We don’t have too many options.
  16. Think I’d rather have Adams than Armstrong. We’ve got not hold up in the penalty area.
  17. Well you’re not going to enjoy this season fella.
  18. Second half has been more even. Still missing any killer instinct up front.
  19. I don’t necessarily disagree but on tonight’s showing it hasn’t made too much difference. Against better sides I think it will and I wonder if Charles will get the nod for games where we’ll have less posession. Smallbone has kept things ticking over quite nicely but I do agree with your overall point about him.
  20. I’ve heard that before…
  21. Not really. It’s been an absolutely excellent start but for all the domination we’ve only had one shot on target and it all seems a bit “nice” up front. Said it before but think we need a proper focal point like Rickie Lambert used to give us before we’re a proper threat of a team.
  22. Silly yellow that. He knows it.
  23. Can see quite a few bookings this season for kicking the ball away if that’s the benchmark, Saints used to do it absolutely loads in previous years. JWP territory…..
