If just going by the statement made by United, I’m not sure if they’ve yet terminated his contract. It’s all a bit woolly but the club are saying “ It has therefore been mutually agreed that it would be most appropriate for him to do so away from Old Trafford, and we will now work with Mason to achieve that outcome.” So sounds like they’re just going to try and sort out a transfer rather than jettisoning him. Certainly don’t think there’s any club in the UK that would take him, only need to see the David Goodwillie saga to identify how fans groups would react. Saudi, maybe, although it’s a headache they don’t need and Greenwood is hardly a big name outside of this scandal.

Adams has previously confirmed it’s nothing to do with the club, Everton is his dad’s name.
-
Interesting, hadn’t noticed that.

Don’t know the financial ins and outs but the club spent utterly huge amounts last summer and January, the squad was big so the wage bill was likely huge too. I see what we’ve done so far as offsetting that somewhat, though I don’t think it covers all like you say Martin has said himself that the squad size has come down a little, but it hasn’t been reduced massively (we sold Orsic, Diallo, Salisu, Livramento, JWP, Lavia, loaned out DCC, released Elmo, Walcott and Willy; that’s 10 out offset by buying Manning, Charles and Lumley, Downes looks on the way, and we’ve brought back Stephens, Tella and Smallbone). So, really, the squad size has only come down by 3, and it looks like Sam A-A, Doyle, Ballard and Doyle are going to get more opportunities with the first team.

I’m reasonably confident we’ll bring in a replacement for Adams and any others that leave. Just think we need to confirm the outgoing before we bring in the incoming.
-
Yeah I’m sure that’s a factor. As is getting £15m now rather than nothing next season. Also we don’t know if Adams has been agitating for a move or what, we do know he was left out of the first couple of starting lineups due to a possible impending move. I know I’d prefer for him to stay but it’s looked likely that he’ll be off for a while so just got to hope that the replacement (whether it’s Piroe or whoever) gets done very quickly. Said it before and will again, it’s really shit that the season kicks off with nearly 4 weeks of the window remaining.
-
I really haven’t seen any of Piroe to comment, but his goal scoring record for Swansea is decent. Also at 6 foot 1 he would give us a much needed bit of height up top.
-
Hope so. This report seems to suggest the rumours of him agreeing a new contract are premature, the manager says he doesn’t know if they’ll be able to keep him. https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/michael-duff-pleads-ignorance-over-27555227

“Then there’s two in Scotland; Aberdeen striker Duk and Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara. Darren Witcoop recently revealed that Southampton and Leeds United were among those who had representatives watching Duk in action against Celtic earlier this month.” I definitely think we should go for him, he’d be a quacking signing.
-
A shame to see him go, but can’t blame him. £15m for a player with a year left on his contract is reasonable, let’s see who we get in.
-
🤣 you might not have noticed but that’s exactly what I’ve been doing. My opinion is that, right now, your take on things is foolish. As for the other things, I’ll comment on them when they look like happening. Good night to you.

Dry your eyes Jim.

Wow! Who said you can’t talk about anything? It’s a forum so discuss what you like. Just don’t be surprised if others have different opinions on where you’re basing your options from, and that they maybe disagree with it. You seem to be having a hard time of it lately given your postings, and you seem to think that we’re at massive risk as a club because we might sell some players and not replace them properly? Fine. I’ve told you an opposite opinion and said, effectively, maybe just wait and see until you can fully and accurately pass judgement. But that’s me shouting down free speech, I suppose
-
Your question doesn’t make much sense. Those people last season who were concerned about a lack of a decent new striker said it because we didn’t have a decent main striker for PL level. And the club, and manager, at the time said that we were almost definitely getting one in. We didn’t. That was a fail. Anyone who says otherwise is simply going against the actual words of the manager. Fact, we kicked off last season light of a decent premier league level main striker. This season: if we kick off September with Adams and Armstrong then, for me, happy days. If we don’t, I’ll wait to see what the replacement is/are. But you’ll just have to forgive me if I don’t doommonger myself to sleep about something that hasn’t happened yet. I’ve said it before but I’m fully expecting from here on in a 1-out 1-in transfer policy. So I’ll judge it when it happens rather than panic my pants every day until the end of August.
-
The prospect. Exactly. It hasn’t happened yet. I’ll get onboard with the criticism club as and when it happens. It’s all a little bit Alpine Saint to be criticising something that hasn’t even happened yet.
-
Well I thought I was fairly clear when I literally said this line that you quoted from me. “As fans we’ve all been disappointed in recent years to not solve transfer problems despite assurances from the club otherwise.” As yet though, I’m yet to agree with the level of wetpantery going around in terms of what we’ve had out compared to what we’ve got in, outside of losing a decent CB in Salisu the club has imo done alright in replacing outgoings either by new signings or former loanees coming back. It’s going to be a hectic time until the window closes but at the moment I’m alright with where we are, it looks alright to me. I can’t predict who will go before the end of the window, or who we’ll get in exchange, but I’m not going to panic about it until it happens.
-
If we’re holding out for prices of our own then surely it offsets that? I saw one of the transfer window manic depressives, either DMan or DT, saying they’d have preferred us to offload Lavia and JWP earlier for less money so that we could get players in earlier and not get off to a bad start. Well, we’re on a good start and we’ve got at least £10m more in the bank from the Lavia sale alone than if we’d let him go to Liverpool. As fans we’ve all been disappointed in recent years to not solve transfer problems despite assurances from the club otherwise. And Martin gas continually said we need players out before we spend on players in. It may work, it may not, but (not necessarily you I should say) there’s an awful lot of pant shitting on this board about a transfer window that isn’t yet finished and has plenty of time yet to run.

7 points in 9 and we are in the playoffs positions mush. Thats a tiny bit of evidence to be getting along with, just a tad above zero. But you do you 👍
-
Can’t disagree with the first one but you must have a whole lot of hate going on for so many clubs based on those prerequisites.

I wouldn’t say it was a “great” job tbf. And I’m not being critical of Bazunu either, i think he did ok in the situation. Watch it back on the video and Bazunu has a really good starting position, he’s almost on the edge of the area doing the sweeper keeper thing. When I first saw I thought he was a bit reckless diving in as he did, but I also praise him for that dive being well controlled so as not to clean out the attacker. It worked out ok, no error as I see it, but also not great in the same breath in that the situation played out to his fortune. If the striker had not gone looking for the dive and just knocked it past, it’s a different story and no-one has any idea how it turns out (I’ve seen comments on here saying it’s an easy goal but I disagree with that, although it definitely would’ve given a genuine chance). Anyway, no harm no foul, it came to nothing. Tge major fault lies with the striker who tried to cheat his way to a penalty.
-
Chelsea just don’t look like a team. Loads of expensive additions, massive overspending in what they’ve got, yet it just all looks so disjointed. They’ll get better, they must do, but that was such a limp performance.
-
Would be a big blow to lose him. Especially if we lose Sulemana as well. Need to replace both of them with some absolute quality.
-
Of course they should have. It doesn’t mean they’re just going to write the money off as a bad decision though.
-
I like the line “Whether or not this move happens, or if it is just a story aiming to see Southampton drop their valuation of Adams is yet to be seen.” Lads, ffs, just read the Liverpool Echo to see what happened with your city rivals consistently under-bidding for Lavia and maybe put 2 and 2 together?
-
We’ll see. At best, from this point onwards I think we’ll break even on transfers in and out, and imo that in itself would be a decent result. And I don’t think we’ve yet explored the loan market as much as we could; Burnley last season had 4 players on loan who played 30+ games for them (Tella, Harwood Bellis, Matsson, Beyer) so it’s obviously a decent market to explore.
