Diamond Edwards looks quick. Centre of everything in attack. Would be interested to see him in a cup game or maybe brought off the bench in a league fixture if we need a spark.

I know the season is starting earlier this year but it does seem like a few clubs have been dilly dallying in the transfer window and have been caught by surprise. Leicester especially, they can't rely on Vardy forever. For us, however our youngsters turn out, we really got our teeth stuck in to the window early this summer. Yes there's a month to go but that's a good few fixtures that new signings for clubs will miss as they get up to speed.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/62328723 Kounde to Barcelona. Chelsea miss out on a CB they wanted. #colwillwatch

From reading about the game on here, I deduce the following: Valery had a MOTM performance but was also crap and had to rectify his own mistakes, Adam Armstrong was rubbish but also scored a good goal and could be the answer to our goalscoring problems this season, Our first half performance was both very good and rubbish And Levi Colwill is definitely joining us because he posted a picture of himself at St Marys but isn't because he posted a picture of himself at St Mary's. Got it. ๐๐

Iโd take that with bells on. Then keep improving the squad.

As things stand with transfers as they are: Man City Liverpool Tottenham Chelsea Arsenal United Newcastle West Ham Aston Villa Leicester Forest Palace Wolves Brentford Brighton Saints (as our squad stands) Everton Leeds Fulham Bournemouth ...but there is still a lot of the transfer window to go. Champions - City (they have Haaland now) FA Cup - City (they'll win most things next season) League Cup - Spurs (after City play a weakened side and get knocked out to someone.) Saints? (As it stands with the squad as it is) - Tough start because we play the more experienced players over the youth for the majority of early games, but then we decide it couldn't hurt to try them and ABK, Lavia and Bazunu prove to be brilliant. Form dips and we are briefly in a relegation battle but we strengthen in the January window and do enough to finish a fairly comfortable 16th. Golden Boot winner? Haaland. Saints top scorer? Adams with 9, but goals are shared out. Saints best buy? Bazunu. Saints most improved existing player? Weirdly I think we will see AArmstrong in amongst the goals more this season. He gets a bit of confidence and goes on a run. Will Ralph last the season? No but he'll be given longer than people think. I'm pleased we've spent some money and Dortmund have proved that if you're good enough, you're old enough so I just hope our model of signing talented youngsters doesn't hurt us this season. I still think we could be in a relegation battle because the teams in the league are stronger than recent years IMO but hopefully we have enough to get out of it...and keep JWP. Happy to wear egg on my face if the youngsters prove to be brilliant. (It's weird hearing myself be so negative as I'm usually cup half full, it's just what I feel right now. Another good striker, 10 and full back signing and I'll be happier!)

With Diamond Edwards scoring today and recently featuring in friendlies for the senior side, he must rank quite high in Ralph's thinking for first team football soon.
-
Ooh keeper's fucked that.

Cracking goals from Mead and Russo. Interesting finally ahead. Would be nice to win the tournament and give the men something to think about going into the World Cup.
-
Ah I missed the Small loan. Good for him to get some game time.
-
This and with Lavia joining Diallo and Romeu we have more options in midfield to cover the JWP move to RB. I still think we'll bring in a full back but time is running out. We also still have Valery, Vokins, Ramsay, Small and Ferry so we aren't without full back/wing back options though we'd probably rather not rely on them!
-
We signed one yesterday. Not experienced and unknown, granted, but still a striker nonetheless. The fact we've apparently bid big money on Delap shows we probably aren't bringing an experienced striker in and hoping what we have or one of the new youngsters scores the goals we need. Having said that I'd almost rather rely on youth than bring in Braithwaite!
-
Welcome Sekou. I know nothing of him bar what I read and you can 'Carrillo' up his stats as much as you like but I just hope he does it on the pitch and he sounds confident. If we are bidding on Delap then it does seem very much like we are relying on youth to do the biz this season. I'm not completely comfortable with it but at least we're trying something rather than sitting on what we had for another season. We're getting the positions right too, I wanted the spine strengthened and we've done that in every position. Another striker, AM and RB/LB needed, and if room another CB and CM but for those we need to ship out a couple. I look forward to our first Carabao cup game when we can try out some different players.

Disgusting. ๐

I didn't watch the game today but "nil" for Saints again speaks volumes. We do not currently have the wing backs to play this system, which means we do not have the creativity from wide positions, and we do not have the strikers to put the ball in the net. I retract my previous sentiment about Ings, loathe as I am to re-sign players, but at the moment, if the price is right, he may be exactly what we need alongside youngsters. If we bring in Delap and Mara it appears to be a risky gamble.

It was a long while ago but I think I just asked Steve. @stevegrant can you do this? -
Nearly 28! Even KWP is 25 and didn't make it...

Songs then... He's scored a second Speedy Sekous away Let's just hope that he stays 'Pool be waiting... Bit of Nenah Cherry in the Northam? ๐

Bazunu (20) Tino (19) Simeu (20) ABK (20) Small (17) Smallbone (22) Lavia (18) Diallo (23) Aribo (25) Djenepo (24) Tella (23) We have the potential to field a very young team this season made up of "first teamers"! Average age 21. Mara would lower it more. (Obviously we would never field this team, it's just a possible.)
-
Mara and Mbappe in the same sentence - that's all I'm reading there.

We're going to boss the Championship in 2023-24. ๐

#beatmetoit It definitely has echoes of "We scratch your back..."! Have we ever signed anyone from Bordeaux? I feel like we have...
-
Real name Karl Karlsson... ๐ Good stats though.

Pre-transfer window I would have said we were almost certs for a relegation battle (we'd probably survive because I think there are weaker teams than us but nonetheless I think we'd have been at the wrong end of the table). Now with the new additions I think we are largely an "unknown" quantity, mainly because we've addressed the issue that our team was crap at the end of last season by "strengthening" the spine - but with players that are young and that we don't know much about. If the new youngsters settle and we sign the extra players we need, we shouldn't have any issues with relegation at all. The window is far from over, but as it stands I can see Bournemouth and Fulham struggling again, Forest have done good business but they have signed a LOT of players that have to gel, then from last year's Prem lot you have to say that Everton and Leeds may struggle, Brentford have signed good players but could be there, and maybe someone completely unexpected like Wolves, Palace, Leicester, Brighton could be down there (though unlikely, I think of those Wolves may struggle).
-
I think Spurs are a different beast even just a few months later. It's not impossible we won't win but they've made some very good signings. Mind you Kane usually starts slow so... ๐ค
