Brilliant from Slovakia. Russians fans getting what they deserve at present.
  2. Pepe Mel is out of a job...
  3. I don't think there was hardly anyone that was underwhelmed when Koeman joined, which shows that it is possible to find someone to bring in that unites the fan base. Who that is, i don't know. http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/showthread.php?50673-Koeman-Appointed&highlight=Koeman#.V2BsTHp4WrU
  4. Redmond didn't play as much as he should have done last season for Norwich because of Neil's system of playing a sturdy midfield, and Hoolahan behind Jerome. He put in some decent performances towards the end of the season when he did play, especially against Watford, and I think he'd be a good acquisition to strengthen attacking areas with potential to improve. £11 million does sound a lot though, I'd be surprised if it were for that much. I'm not keen on us signing players before we appoint a manager though...
  5. Gone from having a £39 million release clause to a £55 million release clause. City will probably still activate that at some point, just means Bilbao provably hold on to him for another year and will be richer when he goes. I can't see Saints ever talking in monetary terms like that!

Is that Manchester United's right back Darmian playing left wing? Bit weird. Agree Pellé having a good game in all but finishing.

So rumour has it, the line up is Hart, Walker, Smalling, Cahill, Rose, Dier, Alli, Sterling, Rooney, Lallana, Kane. If that's true then Hodgson wasn't lying when he said we were playing to our attacking strengths. That team leaves us very open at the back, which we might get away with against the poorer teams, but we'll be ripped a new pooper against better teams. I hope Hodgson learns from whatever mistakes may come his way in this competition but I'm not holding my breath. I am surprised he's not found a space for his favourites Milner, Henderson and Wilshere though.
  8. He does have a bad attitude because he didn't get his move and continued moaning about it - Wanyama did but at least he buckled down and played the season. But I like Berahino. I think he's a natural goalscorer much like Defoe, and if he can sort his attitude out, he'll go on to have a career at the very top level. Leicester are probably a good fit for him.
  9. Haha next article at the bottom of the page: Brendan Rodgers tactical philosophy. Short article: buy players at over-inflated costs and hope one is World Class enough that it makes him look good.
  10. Immature skates will have a field day with this! For or the more sensible of us, this is a big brand. The Tube's whole customer WiFi is powered by them. Hope they add WiFi to the stadium.
  11. £30 million gets his left nut.
  12. Another vote for this. (Or Mary's Meals, keep the money Saints related.)
  13. Well done Everton, for giving us such a lovely lump of money for a manager that cost us nothing, and who has his limitations. Don't get me wrong, I quite liked Koeman as a bloke, more likeable than Pochettino, and he is better than some managers out there, but nowhere near the managerial nous of someone like Pochettino, Klopp etc. He has an eye for a player though, although some of that can be accredited to our 'black box'. Which isn't going anywhere! Enjoy all this delusion that your new money will suddenly make you world beaters. It won't. You might do better than last season, but as you can see from the picking of Leicester players by the "big boys", any success you do get and they come for your players. Koeman himself won't be with you long, he's after bigger and better things. Weirdly I'm not depressed that he's going. If anything the only reason I'd rather he'd have stayed is that we'd have maintained the status quo and had a quiet summer. Well now he's proved he's a money grabber, I'm quite glad to be seeing the back of him. Let us appoint someone that wants to be here, and can see that we're a well maintained club with decent facilities and good players, with the prospect of European football ahead of us. For me, de Boer is a decent fit. Decent managerial credentials at Ajax, fairly young, a name in the game to attract players, and wants to manage in the Premier League. Oh, and as he's out of work, he'd cost us nothing. But whoever we appoint will be welcomed, and I have confidence in the club to pick the right man. We have our bumps every summer, we have had for over a decade, and yet we keep coming back from them over and over again. Two of our key players just signed long term contracts, and the players that were at times disgruntled playing under Koeman now have a new lease of life. The likes of Liverpool, Spurs and now Everton can keep throwing money at us, but they'll never get our club. I'm excited now for the rest of the summer. My one and only wish now from Reed, Krueger and Kat is they don't procrastinate when appointing the new manager. Get him in ASAP and we can plan for the future.
  14. I don't particularly want to use a post on this, but it's happening to me too. The "free" Apple app page that automatically loads when I open a Saints Web post. It's very frustrating. It only happens when certain adverts appear but is very attacking. I've noticed now that when the page loads, to hover over the cross. Then, when the advert seems to be about to load, hit the cross quick as you can. It stops the advert, but still, we shouldn't have to put up with that. Maybe a word with the forum provider? BTW I only stopped being a full member after my PayPal account got hacked, nothing to do with not wanting to pay a measly fiver which I'd only be happy to do, especially in the times of managerial ingoings and outgoings.
  15. Is this in real life? Or just in fantasy? Fantasy? Jürgen Klinsmann. Of the names bandied around recently, I'd say Emery has the best qualifications for us, but if the likes of PSG want him, then firstly I can't see him being interested in us, and even if he does come, he'd likely be another 2 year manager until PSG or the like comes up next time. I think Frank de Boer would be a decent fit, young, Dutch, did a decent job with Ajax, a name in the game, and free without compensation.
  16. Djamal Belmadi has won the league. Top manager and he knows St Mary's too! Of the OP's list I think Klinsmann would be a decent choice, big name in the game with decent managerial experience but I don't think we'd attract him. I guess Emery would be the best choice.
  17. Big name in World football? Tap into the commercial revenues of USA? Employ a manager with a win ratio no worse than 53%? Bring someone in that could be Spurs manager in a few years? Jürgen Klinsmann. Put your house on it! :-)
  18. One plus with AVB, Spurs will think twice before nicking our manager again! Personally of the names bandied around so far, I think de Boer is the natural progression, but I'm still undecided. It'd be nice to get a young manager with a good name in World football who sees us as a long term proposition and not a stepping stone, but that's wishful thinking. Pellegrini perhaps wouldn't be too quick to jump ship. Its a shame there isn't an ex-player of ours with good managerial credentials out there for us a la Bilic at WHU. (Not Hughes! Pahars perhaps, only better.)
  19. C, stand firm on the contract offer and replace if he goes but keeping him would be statement of intent to the media and other teams that we can no longer be bullied for our manager or players. However, as even some Everton fans are saying as well as some of ours, £7 million per annum should be getting you one of the best managers in the world, which Koeman is not, yet. I'd rather we didn't spunk our load, especially after what we went through tail end of the noughties. Plenty of good managers out there.
  20. Ive heard he has a release clause for teams in Europe. (I am ITK) (I am definitely not ITK) New manager will be Kelvin Davis. (It won't but my ridiculous answer shows how premature this all is.)
  21. I'm not worried. 1) Koeman said he has a year left on his contract, and will honour it, he appears to be an honourable bloke. But it if the worst should happen... 2) IF he leaves for the money splashing of Everton, he's proved he's not honourable and we can do without people like that. 3) If he goes to Everton, he'll probably lose all their best players anyway like that summer he joined us, end up signing others, which is hit or miss. (Was a hit for us, but there are only so many Pellé's Mané's, Toby's, Tadic's, Forster's, Long's and Bertrand's in the world.) 4) We've been saying for a while that it's only a matter of time before Holland or Barcelona come in for him anyway. Let Everton have a short term manager. 5) There are plenty of top managers out there for us to replace him with. But 2-5 are irrelevant because of 1. I'd love to see Koeman staying and I'm hopeful he will, but even if he doesn't, surprise though it'd be, I won't lose sleep so long as he's replaced correctly and efficiently.
  22. One extra ex-Saint to watch, one less ex-Skate to watch. Fair deal. Come to think of it, does that leave ANY ex-Skates left playing in the Euros? (I'm assuming a current one isn't in, like, Albania's third goalkeeper or something...) I've glanced through the squads and I can't immediately see any ex-Skate representative at the tournament...
  23. Bertrand is rated the 42nd best player at this year's Euros according to this... http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/36420669 Above Lallana (!) and way ahead of Long and Davis. Milner is 5th best. Hmm.
  24. I'll give this a punt. I guess pick the best player from each club then add 3 top players. GK: de Gea (Man Utd), Butland (Stoke), Foster (WBA) RB: Bellerin (Arsenal), Clyne (Liverpool) CB: van Dijk (Southampton), Stones (Everton) CB: Williams (Swansea), Kompany (Man City) LB: Daniels (Bournemouth), Bertrand (Saints) DM: Kante (Leicester), Gueye (Villa) AM: Payet (Wham), Hazard (Chelsea) LW: Bolasie (Palace), Brady (Norwich) RW: Mahrez (Leicester), Sissoko (Newcastle) Str: Kane (Spuds), Defoe (Sunderland) Str: Aguero (Man City), Ighalo (Watford) Bloody hell Thats harder than I expected, especially trying to get a balanced squad. The likes of Alli, Vardy, Morgan, Ozil and Toby couldn't be accommodated, and other good players too. (I went with 2 Saints though!). There are bound to be better squads out there.

    Isgrove and all

After we sell Mané, Wanyama, Pelle, Tadic, Bertrand, Juanmi, Long, (Uncle Tom Cobley and all,) we'll need them. (Ok, extreme example but shows how important the younger players are for bolstering squad numbers. Isgrove, at 23, is perhaps past the age where we could say he has Premier League potential. Even then we can still field: Martina, Soares, Fonte, Yoshida, VVD, Gardos, Romeu, Clasie, Davis, JRod and Austin of the senior, non-academy, outfield staff, so that's not bad!
