That's accurate I'd say. Though Redmond is already in to replace Juanmi or Gaston. I wonder if the coaching team deem Gazzaniga as ready yet? Hope not. Fortunately, unless someone comes in with a stupid bid for Fraser, VVD or Bertrand, defence is our strongest position at present.

I wonder... Forster Clyne Chambers Bertrand Shaw JWP Ox-C Lallana Walcott Austin Redmond Subs: Rodriguez, K Davis, Stephens, Targett, Cork, Crouch, Puncheon Manager: Pardew/Adkins The all Southampton/ex-Southampton English XI would beat the current England team I reckon. (Based on players still playing and ignoring the fact Kelvin just retired...)

CONFIRMED - Mane joins Liverpool for £34m + £2m addons
SNSUN replied to toe_punt's topic in The Saints
Did I just read that he's only scored 21 goals for us? Six of them were in hattricks. and there was a brace in there too! I swear I thought he'd scored more goals for us. That shows his inconsistency, he can be a sublime footballer on his day, but he can also disappear in games. If he was as influential as I'd thought, he's have done more to stop the losing rot we had in the winter. He's not the goal machine the RAWK lot think he is, though I guess he can improve. £34 million+ is a good deal for us - and a risky deal for Liverpool. I liked Mane, I think his ball control is very good, and he has good pace, but he's far from the finished article. We'll see if the scousers can finish him off. :-) This loss hurts more than Wanyama's, but as long as Mane's replaced well, and I'm sure we're looking to bring in decent players, it will definitely feel like £34 million well brought in. -
England are the ****test piece of **** of all time. Jesus ****ing Christ, they are dire. Hart is shocking. And you know what, if Hodgson did somehow fluke his way into winning the Euros this year, he'd be knighted. I want England to get through, as I'm off work next week, but my God we won't deserve it if we do, at least so far. The FA need to get rid of Roy, once and for all. Payet and co will rip us a new arsehole if we get through. IF. If we get through. Not looking likely thus far.

Typical England. Score early like all the media said we should, and then let Iceland equalise with a long throw the media said we should look out for. ****s sake. Early days but still. Typical England. A goal from open play would be nice...

Pelle has been immense today. Must at least tryyyyyyyyy and keep him. Though isn't it weird that as soon as the goal went in, I thought about Pelle in monetary worth to us...

These jokes are terrible. Some of you need to go back to school...

Good signing. Very pleased with this. It's not his fault Neil wasn't selecting him last season, and when he did towards the end of the season, he was pretty much their stand out player trying to keep them up virtually single-handedly. He has room to improve but the talent is there, and at 22 his value can only go up. He's a good addition to a campaign that includes a Europa group run. What remains to be seen is whether he fits into the new manager's plans. With a five year contract, I guess he'll have to!

According to the gospel that is Wikipedia, he plays for both Manchester City AND Spurs.
-
Ozan Tufan in our sights apparently... Sunderland, Manchester United, Everton and Southampton are all chasing Turkey international Ozan Tufan, 21. The Fenerbahce midfielder scored in his nation's 2-0 win over the Czech Republic in the Euros.

He's played well, but even Kelvin had some outstanding performances. Is he really the man to step in if Fraser gets injured? Stekelenberg is not a good as Fraser, but has played at the top level a long time, and would be the better back up - but I'm assuming this link hints at Stek not staying on?

We'll go cheap and bring in Idrissa Gueye.

It looks like he just broke in, stole a scarf and used a self timer to photograph himself! There's no-one there!

Apparently we've valued him at £25 million according to the Express! I hope the club sticks by their £40 million asking price if he goes at all, but of course I'd rather he stayed and signed a new contract! Mané is a key player for us and will be a loss. I thought the same when Lallana left, though fortunately Tadic was a decent replacement. -
0-0 is right, but England will win on penalties, and Hodgson will be proclaimed as a hero for having all 5 strikers on the pitch at the end of the game and getting us through to the quarters. Cue France, and an exceptional performance from England in a defeat to France that papers over the fact that we're a disjointed mess. "Quarters eh? Well done Roy" says the FA. "Another 4 years for you then!"

I love really want N.I to do well in this game but I can't see anything but a Germany thrashing. (Cue a 1-0 win with a Washington goal...)

I've got some ITK confirmation on our next manager... ...all I can tell you is he's male, over the age of 15, has managed a team before and will be appointed this year at some point. He can speak at least one language, and wears clothes to fall in line with human etiquette. He went to school as a child, breathes air, and is not a virgin. You can all buy me a beer when I've been proven right.

Exactly, we need a like for like replacement. This is where Southampton need to show balls, and do something similar to Stoke when they paid the big bucks to bring in Imbula. The defensive midfielders are out there, we just need to find them. (Not that we're the type of club to spend £19 million on one player...)

Didn't someone say the club wanted to appoint someone by the 28th? So it'll be this week then. De Boer and Pellegrini are the two I'd like to see, but you know what? I think Benitez would be a perfect fit. Yes, yes, he has a job, but it's in the Championship and he's probably going to see the likes of Sissoko, Wijnaldum and Perez leave this summer, and even Benitez ain't going to be replacing them with the same quality. I know he's not on the short list, but worth remembering that he may be available soon if he struggles at Newcastle. #appointGrayorWigley.

I approve of this signing if it comes off, but it almost feels as though Reed and co are trying to force it through before the managerial appointment just so the new manager can't veto it. I'd say there's little depreciation in signing Redmond, and possibly if he has a half good season, his value will only soar, and perhaps that's what Reed and co see in him.

Everton wanted Pereira before they got Martinez so that would be funny, and he has a decent win %, but he has IRA in his name so I don't trust him. :-) I know least about Puel, his win record isn't so good and he's spent his whole life in France. Not a bad thing per se, it just makes me worry wary of him than the other 2. So that leaves Pellegrini, my choice of the 3 listed above, though that shortlist is more underwhelming than some names I've heard in the last 2 weeks on here. Pellegrini has good pedigree, can man manage, has a name to attract players and seems quite likeable. His win % is also very good and he encourages attacking football. Whoever we go for, I'll support them, I just hope we make the appointment early next week so we can concentrate on other things.

Good goal Bale. This could be Hodgson seeing his job slip through his fingers. Needs big changes second half. Rose really is gash compared to Bertrand. Sterling should've scored early on, Vardy, Rashford, Sturridge, sod it even I could've scored that. Why he persists with Sterling I'll never know. It's almost like Hodgson hopes he'll play himself into form. Kane needs to do more too. Rooney keeps trying to shoot from distance... Badly. Lallana has been our best player, and we're marginally the better side. Wales defending well though. No surprise Bale scoring. Weren't we linked with Robson-Kanu recently? Could do a job on a free as a squad filler. He's a pest.

Has Rudi signed yet? #skaceljokes This guy Garcia sounds good. Annoyingly we will just have to get used to the fact that whoever we appoint, if they're a success, they'll be off after a couple of years, and Garcia seems to have high stock in the game. Future French manager? I'd take a punt in him though. I'm still hoping we can appoint someone this week though.
