I was up in the Gods for the JPT and I agree, I spent a lot of the game just mesmerised at the support and size of the place rather than what was happening on the pitch. Apparently the attendance at Wembley for the Play Off final yesterday was 85,962 whereas the attendance for the FA Cup final with the two Manc teams was 84,814. Impressive stuff.

I’ve said it so many times… Leeds had the best attack in the League this season. However, What surprised me is that not only have we scored more goals than them this season but they only had 2 shots on target all game and only 11 on target against us all season in their 3 defeats. To me that shows that Farke wasn’t getting the best out of those attacking riches, and that Martin set us up to be difficult to beat. According to the Leeds forum they have faith in Farke next season but they will definitely now lose a few players. Do I care? Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

At the end of the day... we loaned Jan to Villa because we believed we had better options in the squad. But... a) Villa must have seen something in him to loan him in the first place, b) He's a Polish international with loads of caps which don't come if you're crap and c) If we were Premier League already and were looking to sign a defender from the Championship who has had an excellent season, we'd be delighted. Jan is 27, he's entering his peak as a footballer. He has absolutely earned his chance back in the Prem.

Better get used to this tune...

Watching the Sky highlights first... that's next though! This game will never get boring. Additionally... how good were Smallbone's set pieces today! I already think there are comparisons of JWP in him, neat passing, decent going forwards, but his free kick was good today. He perhaps doesn't have the same engine or tackling nous but i think he's going to do well in the Prem. He's deserved his chance with an excellent performance today.

Kenzie had her baby this week too. Emotional week for him.

I picked a bad week to be working late turn. I understand why it's ticketed but I bet there'll a lot of non-Season ticket and membership holding Saints fans that would love to be there. Not that it would stop them being outside the fan area, whatever the club say in that last paragraph.

I'd like to see Carlos Alcaraz back next season, once he's won the French Open at Roland Garros that is.

I think the fact the Perraud didn't stay this season shows where we are with him. I think he goes. Larios will still be around but with his injury troubles I wouldn't want to go into a Premier League season with Manning and Larios as our left backs. I'm not sure who we bring in though I do know Ryan Sessegnon is out of contract this summer and he'd be a good signing.

Ok Ratings (bearing in mind I'm working and I missed some of the game as an idiot was kicking my cash machine because it swallowed his card) McCarthy - 8 - Made a big save but also generally came out well for punches. If that's his last game then he's done us proud this last few weeks. KWP - 7 - not his usual attacking brilliance but instead had to defend resolutely. Must keep next season. THB - 7 - Another solid game against a great attack. Iffy challenge for the yellow card but otherwise good. Man's a Saint. Bednarek - 8 - he's been excellent this season and did everything he needed to today. Great clean sheet. Stephens - 6 - Some iffy passing especially in the first half and it took him a long time to get going but so pleased he got to lift the trophy. Smallbone - 8 - He looked well up for it today. Possibly my MOTM, pass for the goal was excellent, free kick attempt for everything and he never stopped trying. Gets better every game. Downes - 7 - Another solid game, so key to the way we play. Must sign. Aribo - 7 - another player who has been a revelation this season and worked hard today. Brooks - 6 - So sad for him that he had to go off. AA - 8 - "he's not a striker" I am talking bollocks - did his job brilliantly today. So proud. A day he'll remember forever. Fraser - 7 - Really worked hard offensively and defensively. My Bompey mate said he has an attitude problem - I didn't see that today. Subs: Edozie - 6 - some positivity but he lacks match fitness and match sharpness and perhaps should have scored. Adams - 6 - Was working hard but the game had switched to all out defence by then. Manning - 6 - That's being generous, I didn't even notice him when he came on. Martin - 9 - Brilliant. Set us up well, adaptable. He's in the record books as the manager that got us promoted in 2024. Agree y'all?

Stephen's injury was the best thing that could have happened for THB, but it was the form of Bednarek that stopped Stephens from getting back into the back 2 again. He has been very good. We will still need a new CB in the summer IMO but THB and Bednarek as a partnership should be OK. Add a good left back and we have our back 4. (He says hoping with hope that KWP doesn't go anywhere...)

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaand.......... now I'm really jealous.

I'd have Brooks back as a squad player. I think he has something to offer even if he's not been at the top of his game.
