Atletico apparently have shown interest in Morgan....wonder if something can be done. Anyway, after JRod signing for Spurs, I'll just wait to see what happens before taking what the papers say as gospel.

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities
angelman replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
Can I ask, with out wanting to be obtuse, why you respect him at the moment? Is it because he plays for Saints? -

But in reality I don't care where he goes. If he doesn't play for us, playing for someone else is all the same. -

Agree, but also don't need posters banging on about our contracted players deserving a move away from us. -
Need our help to win a dispute they have with another party. That's all a little mysterious. Filip Đuričić is the only open ended business that we have in Portugal. Apart from that I guess it could be agent related, or the other dodgy area (which we aren't allowed to get involved with in PL so we are clear) is 3rd party ownership of South American players.

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities

I'm a little surprised that Man City haven't been mentioned. OK, they have Zabaleta and Sagna but they are really struggling to get 8 Home Grown players. That is why there is this nonsense about Sterling, which seems might not happen and why there is talk about Wilshere and Delph. Delph might move (and warm the bench) but can't see Wilshere moving. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3129755/Manchester-City-s-pursuit-Raheem-Sterling-Jack-Wilshere-Fabian-Delph-need-English-quality.html So at some stage they will have to make decisions. Clyne is available and is probably good enough to fit into their squad. But with Zabaleta and Sagna, he might not get much game time. Sell Sagna, and then he is still probably second choice and would he want to do that? -

Maybe he prefers Merseyside/Cheshire to the New Forest/Hampshire. Personally, I don't but then I was born and brought up here. -
Didn't Chelsea want Slattery? While of course it might on the surface appeal to join them, their policy is a little strange and he would no doubt be sent out on loan and never play for them.

Transfer update on Clyne, Schneiderlin and transfer priorities

I guess it might be because Brenda constantly bemoaned losing one player and how hard it was to replace him. -

That is unless Man Utd decide they want him. They might just pay the asking price to get their man and usurp Liverpool. If it is only L'pool, then maybe £12/13 would be right. -

How much is Clyne worth to us for 1 season if he decides to run his contract down and puts in a proper shift? £5m? £10m? More? Less? -

But it's OK for Liverpool to STILL want £50m for Sterling. -

Won't harm his international career. -
This is unfortunately a sad truth. Burnley last season had something like 1 or 2 non-British (and mainly English) players and they couldn't do it. Buying good ones was beyond their means as well, because all the good ones are going to be snapped up to fulfil HG quotas. And then, with the amount of money swilling around, PL teams are able to almost take their pick of anyone they want from other leagues. You could certainly take a moral stance of having lots of English players, but then as you say, you would soon be supporting a Champ or L1 team. But the counter argument was the 2012-2014 team where we often used 7 English players before selling some. Of those that moved on, I am presuming that we would find place in the team for all of them (depending on fitness) even Rickie.

Good. Just want to get it sorted, especially as is head hasn't really been with us 100% for quite a while. And if we do get near £15m then that would be great. Almost as good as the ridiculous amount LFC are trying to get for Sterling. -
And because KK was integral in the best goal ever scored.
-
Anyone for Ross McCormack?
-
Yes but look at Burnley who only had English in their team (or predominantly so). It is a shame, that's not in question. But losing 4 in the close season, and another to a long term injury, makes it hard to repeat. A certain amount of pragmatism had to be employed, and while I think that we would all love to see the academy players push through while still competing for Europe, it wasn't going to happen. Not least that English players and the HG rule make for an expensive habit if you were to buy in.

He's going to have to compete with Long and Pelle for the mirror to sort the quiff out.

How a Billionaire Heiress Cracked the Premier League Boys Club

I don't doubt you. There are some who like to tell the world how rich they are, which often leads to exaggerations of said wealth, and there are others who try as much as possible to stay under the radar, which leads to people guessing and often getting things wholly wrong. But, last season was a beautiful for the marketing bods. There we were, pillaged and doomed to fail. But then we won lots of games, there was a story that piqued the interest of the world wide press and we got a lot of exposure. The problem now is how to keep the world wide press interest. I still think that the press would love someone like us, WHU etc to break into CL spots, so IF we can threaten, then maybe we will continue with the exposure. As an aside, I am sure an American on here was saying that they watched the PL a lot, and when you first start out, as there is usually no connection with the teams, that choosing one to follow is fairly arbitrary. The big boys are fairly "obvious" (if unoriginal) choices, but now that Saints had such exposure and appeal through adversity, we have a whole new raft of supporters. -
Point taken, but they do seem to need a right back.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3128277/Manchester-United-eyeing-Monaco-Fabinho-pay-20million.html So Man Utd after Monaco's right back for £10m told to double it to £20m might make Clyne at £15m more appealing, if Clyne wants to go there. But of course it is paper talk, and the Mail at that.
-
I will take your word on that. It just seemed that we have with, for example, Gardos Pelle Tadic, but then again, it's more than likely a mistake on my part and just paper talk giving figures or maybe the other club. The other club can presumably release the figure if so desired, which in this case is more likely to be the source if a figure materialises given that SFC don't.

If it goes through and is "undisclosed", then I suspect that that would be at the request of Sorting and that it will be the lower end of things.
