No, MOrgan won't. He moved out of his house today and won't be back.
-
As Morgan moved out of his rented house today, I guess that it is pretty certain he's gone, not that anyone doubted it.
-
Who do you get rid of? Probably all of them. I wouldn't be upset. Gaston for sure. Yes, I was one who said give him time, but no point giving him the complete period of his contract to come good (which he won't). I was also one who said he had talent, what with a few slick touches, a reputation in Italy and being *****il recently) in Uruguay squad. But he can't cut it in the PL. However, I do think that he played an important part in our step back into the PL. Making a big signing, and he had plenty of suitors, was important to show that we meant business. He did though come with the wrong attitude what with saying that we were offering so much that he couldn't turn us down.

Maybe I should have accepted the £5 to teach him a lesson. But this was all before the Sterling and 6-1 business which I think might have banged a few nails in the coffin. And then that bizarre press conference Brenda gave after the game - sounded like a dead man walking
-
Had a bet with a kid in my son's class that Brenda wouldn't be manager next season. Cocky sh*t wanted to put £5 on it, but I thought that a tad harsh to take an 8yo to the cleaners so stuck to £1
-
Clarkey - good effort getting to the end of the clip. I gave up pretty swiftly.
-
Best for me was actually the 3-0 against Everton coming after a slump. Then the 8-0, 6-1 but they were against opposition that really didn't turn up.
-
Ooops - poor Brenda. 5-0

I find the whole thing somewhat amusing. All these journalists coming out and spouting that it shouldn't happen to a club like Liverpool. So of course it's fine with little old Southampton being shafted by their players as that is obviously to be expected. But when it happens to the mighty Liverpool, oh no, that shouldn't be allowed and shows the sad state of football. The exact sentiments of the journo on talkSport this morning. He said that he should be relishing this as it gives lots of headlines, but he couldn't because it showed the state of the game blah blah blah. What it demonstrates to me is the state of football, but not in the way that the journos are going on about Sterling and Liverpool. Me, I see the problem being the journos and pros seeing that it is OK for this to happen to us and clubs of our ilk, but not those in the "league" above us. And I don't include Spurs in that "league" above us, although they aren't really in the same "league" as us - they're in between. The journos/pros see the natural order of the big boys praying on the rest and think it normal and OK. Of course "that's the way it works" but you have to question how this is good for the game. Long forgotten is our own challenge for the CL and all the pundits saying how nice it would be. Months ago they reverted to type and concentrated on the cabal that is the top 6 (although we might still break into that top 6).

Ultimately Liverpool, while they can hold him to his contract, are going to be the losers. Are they will to cut their noses off? It would be nice if an owner said, sod this, and drew a line in the sand and said enough is enough and that they were not going to be held to ransom by a player. But that's £40m or whatever, and with FFP still around, maybe the value is more in selling him so that they can strengthen the rest of the side. It would also be nice, but rather naive in thinking it would ever happen, if the owners of all the clubs had a gentleman's agreement when players try and get their way not to buy them. But then there aren't any gentlemen in football so that is somewhat fanciful, of course compounded by the amount of money swilling around. Money, and the unhealthy pursuit of it. Never was like this in the good old days.

Possibly. But it is more schadenfreude than anything else. We went through pretty much the same last summer, and it is nice to see a club of Liverpool's stature experiencing the same. And yes, those words from Rodgers are true (never miss a good opportunity to trot them out again) although said in a ****ish manner of the highest order (and a situation which we can pretend to have been in full control of). “Southampton didn’t have to sell. Maybe their objectives have changed. I believe they were looking to be a Champions League club, and they were on course for that, but they obviously decided on a change of plan. I don’t have any sympathy for their situation. It’s just the way football works, it has always been the same. We signed three of their players because they play in a similar way to us and certain of their players fit the profile we are looking for but it wasn’t just us over the summer. Manchester United signed one of their players too, Arsenal took another. Players will always want to compete at the highest level they can and therefore gravitate to the biggest clubs.” Brendan, this Sterling affair, it's just the way football works.
-
Ah but the player is still under contract for 2 years. Depends what Liverpool want to do - keep him to his contract and run it down, or cash in.
-
talkSport now saying agent didn't say what Standard is saying he said.
-
Tis funny, this Sterling move has brought a lot of attention on to Rodgers and his failings.
-
Now that the season has but one game left, goal of the season...... Pelle vs QPR Clyne vs Arsenal (league cup) Pelle vs Stoke (league cup) Wanyama vs Hull Long vs Villa Have I missed any worthy ones off? Mané vs Arsenal. For me, it's Pelle's (QPR) followed by Long's.

Thing the media don't really focus on is that Morgan isn't English and therefore moving abroad really is not an issue for him, seeing as he has been abroad for several years already. They presume that a PL team are the only ones that can offer him anything. While Arsenal might well be that team, it seems that they consider it a foregone conclusion. What I would dearly love, is for us to finish above Liverpool and Spurs as if anyone moves there......

I find the whole thing quite amusing, and it sums up Liverpool. They are living in the past, and think that because it is Liverpool, that that is more than enough. Yes, they have massive support around the world and a lot of money, but they do not have the success of the other big boys. Sterling was born in 1994 They last won the league in 1989-1990 Champions League in 2004-2005 FA Cup 2005-2006 League Cup 2011-2012 UEFA Cup 2000-2001 The ones he is interested in are the league, last won before he was born, and the CL when he was 9. History is all well and good for those on the terraces, as a lot of them can remember the games but they are irrelevant to Sterling. They did well last season, but have gone massively backwards this season = so what's the boy to think? This is Rodgers' fault. He has a plethora of shiite strikers who he doesn't/can't play, so instead plays Sterling out of position as CF + a crap defence. And then there is Liverpool. He's a London boy, so I can well imagine that he far prefers London to Liverpool, although it will be interesting to see if he ends up in Manchester or abroad. The press are having their Liverpool love in continued after the Steven ****ing Gerrard saga, and are saying poor Liverpool, after all they've done for him.

Post-Match Reaction: SAINTS 6-1 Aston Villa

I think we can safely say he meant it. But Long is always seemingly going to polarise supporters, possibly because he never seems to score enough goals. If he played every week like he did vs Villa, then I have no doubt he would be considered a bargain at £12m. I realise that Villa's stupidly high line made him look brilliant, but let's not forget his forethought for the 2nd, his play for the 3rd and the 5th. Coupled to that, he did is usual hassling and a fair bit of dropping back to defend as well. But why can't he do that week in week out. Yes, he harries the opposition relentlessly but his crosses and shots have been wayward. I like him mainly because of the effort he puts in. You get 100% all the time. Also maybe it's a touch of Danny Fox syndrome, especially with the bloke who sits in front of me. He doesn't rate Long at all, so I defend him. Same with Danny Fox, although in truth, that was a lot harder to justify. It was sweet seeing the bloke in front eating a little humble pie when the 5th went in. -
Steve Grant @SteveGrant1983 Nov 10 @honigstein Presumably his "overpriced" rating wasn't high enough.

They were on course to be a Champions League club, I believe, but, obviously, that has changed.

Best/Worst performances from opposition players at St Mary's this season
angelman replied to Wiggles31's topic in The Saints
Disagree. Sunderland back 4 had no idea what they were doing, nor for that matter did Newcastle. Villa did and were following a truly bizarre tactic of playing a very high line. It's not exactly a secret that Mané and Long are quick, so Sherwood gets the worst manager award. It was compounded by a dodgy back pass and a missed tackle by Vlaar (just wonder whether on that showing anyone is really going to come in and try and sign him). -
Does anyone think that there has been a bit of a change in his game today? Stayed on his feet the whole game rather than the somewhat theatrical dives. The 1st goal he might well have normally gone down. Showed some strength, stayed up right and BANG.

I've had to turn off talkSport and R5 numerous times today with the going on and on and on and on and on and on about ****ing Steven Gerrard. The media love in with all things Liverpool is so boring. So am surprised that they are not on first.

Mane didn't "fall over" once today. Long had his best game for us. The two of the were all over the pitch and did their fare share of defeending Great day - just a shame that that's been lacking from too many recent games -

I realise now that the build up was to generate some excitement, amongst those that care, about the new shirt on what they knew was the most boring and insipid design possible. But hey, I'm more interested in how we play and not the workers' uniforms.
