What's up with the Javier Hernández bid? Wouldn't it be a case of either or but not both? Hernandez seems to be a name that has been in the pot for a long time, although whether he would come here from Real, is another question.

If I was a pro, I'm not sure that Newcastle would be a club that I would sign for. Ignore the fact that I am a Southerner and more than happy where I live, the ownership and ambitions have been sorely lacking in recent years. Will it change with the appointment of McClaren? Will funds be given to rebuild and push on? Both those are questionable and would you take the risk? What isn't in doubt is the stadium and fan base that are tip top.

And closer to London, which really is the place that would interest a young football player earning lots of money. 70 miles vs 300 miles. It's close enough to have a night out there and get your driver to drop you back home.

I've only seen him at SMS and on TV for the FA Cup final. Neither was anything great. Typical press who seem to latch on to anyone and hype them up. Adnan Januzaj was last season's wonder kid and he seems to have disappeared, or rather player a bit part role last season. No such talk of getting him to be English and play for England. Guess it also happened to Chambers at the beginning of this season as well.

Have to agree with Bexy Presumably also, the coaching staff can see what's what on the training pitch, even if it isn't carried across in games. They are obviously on both a better position and vastly more qualified to make a decision than the rest of us, so if they offer him a contract, that's good enough with me. Shame that we didn't take Osvaldo and Ramirez on a trial loan period before signing them.

The LvG/RK thing was just the press trying to sensationalise things. I guess they think it adds an edge to proceedings. He's played 9 league games totalling 329 minutes, so quite hard to judge. But value wise, he signed a contract with Benfica in July 2013 for about a transfer fee of £7m, where he stayed a year before being sent out on loan to Mainz for 6 months and then to us. While I know his contract is until 2018, I cannot see how he can be considered to have increased in value, especially since leaving the Eredivisie (where he scored 26 in 111) he has scored 3 league goals in 43 appearances (many of which were subs or subbed).
