  1. I would think it the case that he was wanting a top 4 move, but seemingly he didn't fit their plans. Liverpool or Spurs was the next level down.
  2. This. I can't recall when we last had a manager I would put as much faith in as RK. Sure they all know more about football than me, but RK seems to be head and shoulders above the rest. Yes I know it is also the scouting network and back room that helps, but it all seems to be working well at the moment.
  3. In perspective (maybe) Cech - 1 year left - aged 33 with prob 6-7 years left in him at the top level - one of the best goalies around - £11m Clyne - 1 year left - aged 24 with prob 8-9 years left in him at the top level - a very good defender, but by no means one of the best - £12.5m I am sure neither Saints nor Liverpool will disclose either the actual amount, nor the conditions and I for one am not going to get hung up on what the papers say about it. Maybe we have included a huge sell on clause in lieu of £2.5m - who knows?
  4. Brett, take away the last few games, and I would disagree with you. However, of him or MS, I think he is more easily replaced.
  5. Confess that I fell asleep during most of the game - only saw their 3rd and switched off after that. What have we learned from this? Ings and Kane might be over rated? Southgate can't motivate the players? JWP isn't good enough to feature in an average side? We don't know how to play tournament football? Anything else? With Ings and Kane, it will be interesting to see how they do this season. Kane had a storming last season, while Ings was somewhat mixed - good first half, average second. I know people can say that they are young, but take a world class player like Messi - he was in the Argentinian side when he was 18, and had got 10 goals for the senior side by the time he was 21.
  6. £2m through additional achievements is presumably qualifying for Champions League, winning the league or some such other pipe dream that Liverpool have.
  7. Problem with having a 24 hour sports news service is finding the content to fill it.
  8. As they are playing hardball with Sterling and Man C, then they surely can expect the same.
  9. Put it this way, if Wenger is prepared to pay up to £16m on a risky transfer (sort of his words) for Chambers, then £25m for Morgan makes much better sense as there is much much less of a risk.
  10. Fair enough. Seems that staying is worth what, £8m, so we might "lose" out on something like £6m or £7m
  11. Many players seem to like to be able to play near where they grew up. He was born in Stockwell, so the closest (Prem League) is Chelsea, then Palace (but we can discount them I would presume). Others then are WHU, THFC and Arsenal.
  12. Can't we just sell him rather than all these loans?

If Atletico have our bid, then the next bid will have to be £2m or so more than ours, what with the compensation they would have to pay us if he went elsewhere.
  14. I suspect that being allowed out on loan from Fulham that he won't play any part there, and if he does well with us, that he might accept being competition with Forster when he comes back. Might be a very good for the club to have two goalies like that. Of course he needs to refind his touch (or is it just confidence?) but on paper it looks good, IF.......
  15. Ask someone from Liverpool and he'll say Liverpool Ask someone from north Londoner and he'll say Spurs Ask someone from Southampton and he'll say Saints Ask someone from Swansea and he'll say Swansea That's of course a generalisation, but should be fairly accurate.
  16. Strange career. 191 apps for Ajax, 48 for Roma - and in that time 54 apps for Holland - and then 19 @ Fulham and 1@ Monaco. Only 32 years old.
  17. Weren't Chelsea really gunning for him?
  18. Ok so we have Forster - injured for who know how long Davis - Ok at best, but getting old Gazza - who knows??? and now Stkelenburg. What I find most of interest is what is going to happen to Gazza. Is he ever going to play a part in the 1st XI?

So could I. A slight improvement (based on last year) in the Premier League A slight improvement in European football, which will be huge if we lose our double header this season, and LFC/THFC are more likely to qualify for EL than we are. A big improvement in wages. So, on footballing reasons alone it is quite close this season, but financially it is chalk and cheese.
  20. Osvaldo has a rather high opinion of his own abilities, decided Saints was too small time for him, so God knows what he would think of QPR. Personally, time to bite the bullet and flog them off or give them away. Should have thought about sacking Osvaldo when he attacked another employee. Certainly we had grounds to, and in many businesses he would have. Not sure if he could then have been sued to recover some of the transfer fee. But whatever, I am sure that the club knows what it is doing financially now that the somewhat profligate Italian banker has moved on.

    New Keeper

If Arsenal sign Cech, then Ospina is supposedly going to be the one getting the boot. Maybe a 1 year deal/loan??
  24. Spurs is a big step up financially for a player, just as Liverpool is. But the league is as it is, and Spurs/Liverpool are unlikely to get CL. Certainly they aren't going to do so on a regular basis for the foreseeable future. The might if lucky interlope and then go back to where they usually are (5th-7th). The four there at the moment, are the 4 that always get it. It's why this league is not the best in the world.
