  1. At least I won't have to organise my life around when Saints play.
  2. There are going to be a lot of people looking like right tits when we sign some very decent replacements. Hell, if we don't and the worst does transpire, then I am more than happy to look a tit, but at least I won;t have spent so many weeks being so bloody morose.
  3. Would be happy to pay the £10m to just get it done and dusted. Would obviously think £8.5m (the same as Lovren last year) would be better
  4. the standard of watches seems to be very Championship level.
  5. My two season tickets were £2.50 each. I know it's small beer but it's principles and having spent over £1400, I thought it petty. Much better to have built it into the ST price. But as for ST prices going up......with the massive increase in TV revenue, one might have thought that not raising prices would have been a nice touch from the club. But UEFA's FFP rules can do nothing but add to the ever increasing prices, that is if the demands of the PL and the supporters are to be met. Let's say that the average price per seat over the league season is £500, and say that there are an average of 30,000 seats per season, then 4% increase equals £600k. Take inflation into account, and there is hardly, if any real term increase in revenue.
  6. So from being captain two days ago - http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/11358336.Fonte_in_line_for_Saints_captaincy/ - to being sold off to Cardiff. I must say that I am a little confused as to what is going on.
  7. Sends out a message that we are more than happy to keep him and accommodate him should offers not be acceptable.
  8. I guess some sponsorship works and some doesn't. I knew HP were there till last season. I am sure when we see Spuds plastered all over the place, their sponsor will stick in the mind. Whether or not it works for the company in terms of advertising is irrelevant to me - I am far more interested in what income the club can make (so we can be more competitive while sticking to FFP regulations).
  9. Because FFP rules mean that it is very important to maximise revenue. Personally, and this has been confirmed by Ralph, income could be improved.
  10. I had that at Wembley Arena once when I saw INXS

Either MP or Cortese or both, either way I agree that the messianic image of these two has not been tarnished at all by this most expensive of mistakes.
  12. Arsenal were in the papers a while back trying to get the number of concerts increased from 3 to 6. http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/arsenal-launch-legal-battle-over-number-of-concerts-at-emirates-stadium-9620918.html I am sure that someone can tell me, but does SMS have concerts on a regular basis? Is their any planning issues? Obviously, given that Arsenal are pushing hard to increase by 3 dates, it is quite lucrative.

"IMHO" you are wrong. You are of course entitled to your wrong opinion, but it is still wrong. And so what if she did want to get some of her money back? If you don't like it, why not buy her out? And by the sounds of it, you seem to think that you can do a better job running the club (obviously you are armed with ALL the facts to make such assumptions), so rather than bïtching from the sidelines, get off you arse and help run the club. But anyway, do you really think that the value of her asset would be enhanced by cashing in now followed by relegation? Do you really think that they are that naive in business and they can't see what you can see? And if it is a closing down sale, why appoint Koeman, a world renowned figure, rather than an Irvine type character? There seem to be two types of people. One is a morose bore, who at the merest hint of difficulty goes into total meltdown. That's fine, but they fail to understand that most people don't want to join them in their self pitiful darkness that they try and spread on one and all ad nauseam. Then there are others who accept the set backs, try and look for positives and get on with it. Me, I see that we have a fantastic name as a manager (it would be too easy and far too early to say we have a fantastic manager). All you ever do is moan, moan, moan. I am sure that your heart is in the right place (!!!???) but as I say, people don't want to read your unending negativity and criticism, especially when you are not in possession of all the facts. Hence why I mused that you might be better off supporting Chelsea or someone like that. You might at least be less negative and happier. Actually if you are so unhappy, why do you bother supporting Saints at all? I know that you say you support the team not the board, and I said no one supports the board but just the team, but really they are part and parcel of the same thing.

    Don't be a bore Richmond.
  15. I read that and found one BIG flaw in the argument. It goes on about it being a two way thing, and how we discard players when we have had enough of them. That is incorrect. We do not discard them. Players see out their contract (whether it be at the club or out on loan) and when the contract expires, it is not renewed. What we are seeing this close season are players 1 year (or less) into a long term contract, looking to break it. So therefore the whole argument in that article is flawed and incorrect.
  16. Can you pay on the door? Got a flight coming back from holiday that day, but not sure whether I can get from Soton A'port, home and back to the ground on time. Guess I can get the Mrs to drop me and my lad off and we can catch a train, but not sure how popular that would be!!

You still here Richmond, with your trite negativity?

One would hope that he realises that he is in the last chance saloon, but as the Prof says, if a WC couldn't get him to knuckle down....... So hopefully he will bang in the goals and we can be shot of him. I presume that we, like last season, won't be paying his wages and that there is an arrangement fee of some sorts???
  19. Wow! - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2704055/James-Rodriguez-sparks-900-replica-shirts-sold-hour-Real-Madrid-club-shop.html (NB - not comparing Saints to Real, but more just what happens at the big boys)
  20. I thought that we were about to make him captain.
  21. LOL, naughty. But afraid to say, that is what the academy is, just hope that it is only one or two a season in the future rather than half the starting line up (at least).
  22. I like that. We do as well, but with the pillaging of our squad (like yours) I am not sure that you can do that in the PL in such a short time. The greatest thing for me last season was to have so many English players on the pitch and that they were (for the most part) very young. In some games we played 5 teenagers. I would love that to happen next season, but only if they were competitive, or rather, the team could accommodate them, but I am not sure that that is going to be possible. Time will tell. Pochettino had a great brief - I seem to recall that someone on the board (cannot for the life of me remember who it was) said that the plan was for the manager to bring through youth, which sometimes was going to work and sometimes wasn't. What a brilliant hand that is for a manager (of the coaching variety) to be dealt. As for friends helping out....while it might not be applicable now, I do think that certain clubs outside of the big boys should have an "understanding" and try and work together. Obviously the lure of the PL is pretty damned strong what with the wages we can offer, even Southampton vs. some league champions/runners up, but I really do think that there is some mutual benefit to be had.
  23. I've always said, that while we missed out on the Bale sell on clause, in the long run the PR from him having been through us will outweigh the £20m that we "lost" out on.

Look on the bright side....since WHU signed Carroll for £15m, he has made 12 appearances for 2 goals, now out for another 4 months all for the princely sum of a reported £90k a week. Osvaldo, 13 appearances for 3 goals for what is it, £65k a week which while on loan, we agreed not to pay a penny. Would be interesting to see who realises the most from any sales.
