  1. Ambition, that's all we ever ****ing hear. Why not be ambitious with Saints? What actually is more ambitious - to get Saints into CL or join a team already there? Why not just come out and be honest and say that their wages have been doubled as well as a few CL games, but mostly its mostly about the money.
  2. Agree. Look at our (old) team. Mostly L1
  3. If they were all so brilliant and we had such a good manager, why did we only get 56 points? Why did we throw so many points away? Why did we not win a single game from a losing position? I know that there will be a big upheaval but that would have happened anyway with a new manager and new tactics. Maybe him bringing in a couple of players he knows and who know his tactics is the priority.
  4. Managers have one goal to work towards. Its always the same and doesn't waver. Saying NCs dream is no longer there is a ridiculous argument. Dreaming with other peoples money is never going to work and NC was naive if he thought it would. I don't think he was naive, just arrogant to think hr could do as he pleased with KL's money. The goal is still there.
  5. The constant line about how good the academy is and how much money it has generated from sales is a bit trite. What is the point of producing all these players for other clubs if all you want to do is consider your bank balance? The message Reed is sending out is pretty clear to me, and it is welcoming other clubs to take their pick. Now of course the position this time next week will be different and look rosier but then again we might have sold SRL, AL, MS, DL, LS, CC, NC, JC, DO, GR and anyone else.
  6. Prof, I agree. I don't really mind selling all the players. if we bomb next season then chances are I'll just give up on football and leave the money obsessed cesspit to others.
  7. Handle every stressful situation like a dog does. Pee on it and walk away.
  8. The only thing that maintains my confidence is that Koeman must have been party to the plan. I will be worried if he walks away!!
  9. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/southampton-transfer-exodus-set-continue-3777737 I like the bit....... Now, I don't want to be a bed wetter, and I'll wait to see what happens, but if this is the case, then it does actually look like a fire sale with the board trying to sell us, the fans, some ridiculous notion that those in the academy can carry us. OK, Chambers and JWP probably can, but I saw nothing of Gallagher last season that gives me any confidence that he will bank in 15 goals this season.
  10. Half the price of Jordan Rhodes. And let's face it, if we do get him, that is the minimum that BFC will need to replace him.
  11. Mick Channon never earned more than £750 a week. Random I know, but also gives some perspective.
  12. Yes I know it's dog eat dog, and those above couldn't give two shïts. Just feel sorry for teams, especially those promoted that have dreams and aspirations, like we do/did, that get crapped on from a great height. It's what is wrong with footie. I'd prefer not to be part of that, but frankly that is being naive. If you can't beat them by playing nice, join them in being ****s.
  13. I really would like some English blood. Would feel a little sorry fir Burnley if it does come off.
  14. Aye. Players get one along with loads of wonga. They then can either let it run down so that the next club can give them even more wonga while their employer can't cash in on them, or they haggle when the contract still has some years to go so that they sign a new one and get even more wonga or act like everyone should be grateful for being able to cash in when they bugger off to get even more wonga shortly after having signed one that gave them more wonga than they were used to but not as much as their new employer is giving them.
  15. I used to be a centre back and at 6ft 3 I could replace Lovren, but I might need more than 5-6 weeks to get up to scratch.
  16. Aye, message is that the whole team is up for sale.
  17. As a season ticket holder, I find this most reassuring!
  18. Oh **** it. I'm off and will be back when we have sold all the players and bought a new squad.
  19. this i wouldn't like.
  20. LOL - I have thought of writing to the club to get a refund. Might do it if I have a spare second.
  21. This. Koeman starts with a blank-ish canvas. Might be less easy at the start of next season, but given time.....
  22. I agree. We've still got Lallana and Lovren to really get off the ground.
  23. Gutted? Not at all, as I have been supporting Saints for quite a few more years than he's been alive, and will hopefully still be here when he's hung up his boots. Preferred to have kept him, sure, but £30m+ is £30m+. Close the book now, and move on.
  24. Aye - **** loyalty and trying to push on to the next level with the team that brought you up. They could all have given one more season to see what happened. I now don't really care whether we just get mercenaries in or not. Of course I would prefer home grown English, but **** it. If they are going to be off at the first opportunity and 10 moths into a 5 year contract then what's the point.
  25. Mods/admin - any reason that Student was banned?
