  1. Oh come off it. Liverpool would deny everything, even if they had tapped up the players. And if the FA/PL could prove anything, what then? Who are they going to side with - LFC or SFC? Who is more important to their bank balance?
  2. Complete rubbish. Markus Liebherr passed away on 10th August 2010 Dejan Lovren signed in 2013 and Shaw, Lallana, Schniederlin all extended contracts after August 2010. So unless Cortese is some medium, it was/became his dream.
  3. Granted that MENSA membership might be beyond some, but they aren't that naive to know about football and the chances that SFC make the CL within a couple of years. If someone is trying to sell something to you, we all know that there are going to be embellishments. So I'm sorry, I just can't take it as anything other than being disingenuous.
  4. Unfortunately the situation is that not many clubs can afford to. I am still hoping (in vain) that our owner might turn around and say **** it, let them stick to their contracts.
  5. Can't disagree with any of that. I wonder whether the PFA might also voice their concerns about players shafting clubs, or do they only speak up when clubs shaft players? (rhetorical).
  6. As I posted elsewhere..... players saying the dream died because the chairman left is very strange. NC must have been the only chairman in PL history to have such sway over the players. Are we really expected to believe that professional football players took the dreams and aspirations of a banker playing with someone else's money and made their career choices on that? Pull the other one. The think that annoys me in this, is the disingenuousness of too many people.
  7. Yet another one bringing out complete bull about the "project changing". So disingenuous that it annoys me. If he hasn't spoken to Koeman how does he know what the project is and if it has changed?
  8. Feyen'er, I don't think anyone here has forgotten where we were a few years ago. However I do think you might be right about people's opinion of your league. I suspect that some might see it akin to the Scottish league. personally was well aware of your stadium capacity and average attendance. As for the two reasons you give for Pelle coming, you did leave out money. Money makes the world go round (unfortunately)! While you have European football, we have Sky TV money.
  9. Isn't this #asklovren session really because HE wants to say something?
  10. Why would he not want to play CL with us
  11. Surprised he didn't lamp the cock of an interviewer.
  12. I hope it comes off, not just for us (actually, that should be, not just for him). His attitude, from an interview last season, is one that is spot on and dedicated to being the best he can be. It can't be easy passing up a lot of those temptations that other teenagers enjoy.
  13. At the beginning of last season, I looked at him and Shaw, and thought that JPW would be the better of the two. However, during the season Shaw really pushed on and JWP didn't match him. Hopefully he will blossom this season and become a great.
  14. Blakey, I have many things in my life to worry about, and this isn't one of them, so I like to think that I can take a (emotionally) detached view of things, especially now that the initial annoyance has passed. I ask myself what the intentions behind the advert were. I find no malice, arrogance or anything else bad, so whether I find it ill advised and badly written or not, the intention is the most important thing.
  15. I reckon Swansea might be feeling the same, or are concerned that that might be the case.
  16. I don't doubt that there is a lot of crap being thrown from both sides. But what I think is complete and utter bullshït is this continuing "the dream died" from so many people and not just AL. I am sorry to say, that as a supporter I too dreamed. The personnel have changed and I still have a similar dream with a few adjustments, but still the same goal, still ultimately the same dream. It's always about the players though, isn't it? **** the supporters. **** their dreams. Their dreams don't count for anything. Sure, while it's not our job and livelihood (so no begrudging moving onwards and upwards to earn even more money even though a contract was recently signed), using "the dream died" is nothing short of a spurious and a disingenuous excuse. Also, players saying the dream died because the chairman left is very strange. NC must have been the only chairman in PL history to have such sway over the players. Are we really expected to believe that professional football players took the dreams and aspirations of a banker playing with someone else's money and made their career choices on that? Pull the other one. MP, well at least he was on the ground with the players and had day to day contact with him, but he was a brief part of Saints history. In AL's case 12.5 years is unimportant compared to the 1.5 that MP was here - is that what you are saying? But back to the dream - tell me, did AL have a chat with Koeman to see what the "new" dream was? No of course he didn't because by his very own admission, he saw Liverpool playing in March or even earlier, and wanted to be part of that. EDIt - I commend you loyalty to him, and personally, while things haven't worked out great, I bear him no ill. Just hope that he does find that the grass is greener up at Anfield.
  17. He did, see post #155
  18. http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/11095/9368978/southampton-expected-to-resist-attempts-to-sign-defender-dejan-lovren Like this Eel?
  19. And might I be the first on the board (you rude ****ers) to congratulate him on his nuptials.
  20. I wonder how many of these were in the clique??
  21. Player goes on strike, what options do you have. 1) To acquiesce to his demands 2) You may want to take the moral high ground but you would be cutting your nose off to spite your face. Pride before a fall and all that etc etc. If you are referring to the two players whose name has cropped up with the word refuse/strike, sure, they could have been put on gardening leave but who does that benefit?
  22. Agree. And hopefully by the time I get back from being under the dentist's drill, I will have something to cheer me up.
  23. Earlier on, I said that he should take control back from his management company. Looking at this, https://twitter.com/gordonsimpson/status/484269178699141120, it seems that I was wrong and he should leave these things to his management company.
  24. Disagree - Echo probably haven't had so many visits to their www in years.
