The ref was not at this best last night but how three players missed that cross across the goal deep into injury time I shall never know. Oh well, at least next season should be good.

I've just looked on the trafficengland site and they are showing delays of 1 hour southbound J8 to J12. Normal conditions expected from 7:00 pm. The A34 southbound to Winnall is showing a 15 minute delay until 6:45 so it looks like any other cross-country route is to be preferred.

If it's any consolation the controllers at NATS don't know what is going to happen either. One of my staff was in the control room today and nobody seems to know what will happen. Instructions change by the minute and the controllers are not informed. As for the jet engine damage, someone who used to work at Rolls-Royce explained that the fan blades have small zig-zag channels about 1mm diameter for letting the air cool the blades. If this gets clogged up then the blades will overheat and the engine will be junk. If any engine has been flown through volcanic ash then R-R will have nothing to do with it.
