  1. I shall reserve judgment until I've seen him. If he were any good we would have heard of him, but if he were any good, he wouldn't be signing for us
  2. These two could be the diference between staying up or sinking. I, for one, would be delighted if they both stayed for the rest of the season.
  3. that would be 'affect'.... (and grammar).... Saintjay, I'm quite happy to read any of your posts with interest and I would never try to dissuade you or make you feel small in any way, but sometimes small things can make a big difference Keep posting!
  4. I went to Chelsea once for a midweek game. I picked my daughter up at Reading and drove through thunder and lightning and a continuous downpoor. We arrived at the ground, bought a programme and got to 10 feet from our seats when the steward told us that the game had been called off, which I knew would happen anyway. My sympathies go to those Saints fans who got to Newcastle a few years ago only for the match to be called off because the roads around the stadium were a 'bit icy'. Northern softies!
  5. But we won't be playing them..
  6. We sold him; we got the money; he's nothing to do with us any more.
  7. From what I know about this type of business, the company that made them (Daktronics) supplies them at low cost to the host institution and then manages the advertising sales for them. Depending on the details of the deal it is not uncommon for all the revenue from the advertising to go to the led video screen provider. The host institution gets the use of the screen for free. It can't be a coincidence that both screens should fail at the same time. The one at the Northam end had two groups of modules intermittently failing completely and two other individual modules that had lost their red signals. The Chapel end was presumably turned off because it was too bad to use. They're probably not significant faults but there will certainly have beeen a loss of revenue to somebody.
  8. It also transpired that many players' contracts did not have this clause...
  9. Isn't it a one-match ban for two yellows?
  10. Why on earth would you bring McLaggon back to defend a corner? He must be one of the shortest players at the club and would be far more effective staying in the centre circle.
  11. The net cost to us was about £500,000. From the OS: 'Bradley Wright-Phillips signed a three-year deal at St Mary's after moving from Manchester City for around £750,000. Around a third of that was paid by Championship sponsors Coca-Cola as the prize money won by the club in a competition. The rules allow the winners to buy a player for a quarter of a million or to put the money towards a larger fee and Saints opted to use their Coca-Cola cash to buy the 21-year-old half brother of Chelsea winger Shaun Wright-Phillips.'
  12. Just thinking about our team next season in League 1 has given me the cold sweats. Be afraid, be very afraid....
  13. I'm afraid that we've signed him on a 2.5-year contract.
  14. Not even booked! That shows the benefit of experience. What exactly happened with that incident on the touchline in the second half? From what I saw he went flying into the other fellow who drop-charged him with an elbow to the chest. The assistant flagged immediately for a foul to us and from then on it was all handbags.
  15. Good coverage of the 'troubles' but the highlights were rubbish. The only good bit was where they showed the kick-off from a low angle and when I freeze-framed it I could pick out my son-in-law and me sitting in the Kingsland.
  16. No positional sense, no discipline, always ball-watching, can't tackle, out of his depth. He's not, and never will be, a fullback but that's not his fault. He could make a very useful right midfielder.
  17. Agreed. Persisting with McGoldrick will be what sends us down.
  18. Skacel of course, silly question. After today I rest my case.
  19. Because we were at home and we needed three!
  20. I found it fine, but I was at the match watching it live....
  21. .... you're dreamin?
  22. 'who ever decided to loan out saga should be put down' Does anybody know who it was?
  23. Another 2 points dropped. Pleased with the fightback but Wotte seemed to have settled for a point which at the beginning of the season would have been ok but at this stage is nowhere near enough. Wotton brought passion and commitment to the midfield. Gillet worked hard but his passing and free kicks were woeful. No, they were worse than that they were abyssmal. Lallana disappeared for 85 minutes (yes, I know he was subbed on 57 mins). I knew he was playing but I just couldn't see him on the pitch. McGoldrick was a complete waste of space, as usual. Euell should have been on from the start. Davis did nothing wrong except for their second goal when he dived to his left and punched the ball back into the middle of the penalty area when it would have been much easier just to help it on its way. I though that the shot was going wide anyway. Saga was impressive but I thought that he was just showing off for his first. Molyneux was stupidity personified. His first yellow was for a petulant hack at the legs of the fellow who had just strolled past him, but he obviously can't count past one because he then went flying in to earn his second. Can we send him back? The referee was ok, we were lucky that he didn't give them a penalty later in the second half, many others would have. Surman was everywhere trying to do Lallana's job as well as his own but was always arriving just too late. All-in-all, an eventful game against an in-form team but we desperately need the points and at the end of the season, maybe a few games before that, we'll realise that it's not enough.
  24. Can't we play an indecent team? It would make things more interesting.
  25. I think a modicum of panic has been necessary for some time now.
