  1. Hmm, a difficult match to call. I suppose I'd settle for a draw. I'm fairly certain that next Saturday's team will be nothing like the the one we have at Christmas.
  2. Yep. He's gone, deal with it, move on.
  3. Ausgezeichnet!
  4. I read an interesting fact today. In 13 years at Ipswich Sir Bobby Robson only bought 14 players.
  5. Get real everybody. The season is not gong to settle down until a couple of months have gone by. Some team will shoot out ahead of the rest and then drop down into oblivion. The loan deadline isn't until the end of September, is it?
  6. For those who can bear to watch it, the BBC's Sports Personality lifetime achievement award (bottom of the screen): http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/8177945.stm And at Barcelona: http://www.fcbarcelona.com/web/english/noticies/futbol/temporada09-10/07/n090731106011.html RIP Sir Bobby, you have left us all such fond memories.
  7. This should make you laugh: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/football/premier_league/article6730823.ece under 'long shots'
  8. What is it with this 'debt free' obsession? This club is now in private ownership and all its financial arrangements are a matter for its owner. Since that owner is filthy rich, we are not going to go bust so all that matters is how much financing is available to help us advance up the leagues. We supporters can relax and get back to the business of following our team around the country. Give it a rest, please. ](*,)
  9. 'released by mutual consent' or some such wording, I believe. As far as I recall, we received no fee but we could stop paying him.
  10. He was a great man. His career and his achievements stand out amongst so many others.
  11. Is that 2 children by 3 different adults??? I hear some strange rumours about them folks down in them parts.
  12. I think that would be called a 'potential liability', certainly not a debt.
  13. I can't understand all this debate about debt-free or not. As far as we are concerned, what does it matter? What difference does it make? We are indebted to Herr Liebherr but as far as the day-to-day running of the club is concerned, we shall have a budget and access to capital injections as we need them. Let's face it, we are not going to go broke again, are we?
  14. The 10 points were for going into administration, not for what may come after.
  15. That's a decision that I will happily leave to 'der management'. Stability first, then steady improvement from now on. If we can scrape into the playoffs, or better, then I'm sure that all concerned would be delighted but I wouldn't expect to see any big money panic buying at this early stage. Even at my age, I'm prepared to be patient. I'm just thankful and relieved that we have a club and a team to support and that we have the financial backing to be able to take a long-term view.
  16. What's the typical turnover for a club in this league? £8m to £9m ?
  17. It may even be that, in this 'five year plan' it has been decided that a 10 point penalty makes it unrealistic to spend large amounts of money on the coming season and that the big financial push could wait until next year.
  18. Isn't that what happened last season?
  19. We've appointed a good manager. I am content to leave the purchase and selection of players up to him.
  20. Sir Markus?
  21. If he left us he'd only be loaned out to some Division 1 team. Which is exactly what he needs, a couple of seasons in the lower tiers.
  22. We've cut the overheads with the players that have been released. I don't expect spectacular changes to start with, but hey, let's just be pleased that we have a football club and some stability.
  23. I'll be renewing my 2 but I'm off out of the country tomorrow for 3 weeks. Do you think I can trust someone back home to do it for me?
  24. Thanks, Tony. You'll always be welcome at St. Mary's as a supporter.
  25. What's the antonym of pinnacle?
