  1. There's no rush, I'll wait. I'm good at that.
  2. I'm pretty sure that we would have got more than £400k as compensation.
  3. Ah! I think I've just twigged what you are saying....
  4. Isn't that McGoldrick? I thought Dyer was one of our own.
  5. I found a tin of Johnstone's mdf primer in my garage that I'd completely forgotten about. I think this must be an omen. Good times are just around the corner!
  6. I agree, but what comes first? Bums on seats or better results?
  7. We managed to get relegated even without the -10 points.
  8. I'd like to do them whilst I still can, but they keep on building new ones.
  9. My personal feeling is that the academy is unsustainable at this new level of football, unless Mr. Big wants to take a long-term view, that is. Players' wages will obviously have to fall correspondingly and as Ponty points out, noy making stadium repayments would be a blessed relief. I'm quite sure that any new owner will have looked at all these sums very carefully. Anything over 12,000 would be outstanding in this division.
  10. I'm going to stick my neck out and say that with the right manager and a couple of inspired signings I believe that the gates will be at least as big as last season. I cannot believe that anybody was attracted to St. Mary's by the big-name opposition and they certainly didn't come for the quality of the football. Depending on the dates, I'm looking forward to some of the away games. Carlisle, Yeovil, Swindon and I'd certainly like to go to Bristol Rovers again and do them over.
  11. I read a comment at the time that we couldn't build there because it is reclaimed ground. I've never found out why that was a problem, unless it meant deep foundations. ...and Pompey aren't a Premiership football club, they are a club in the Premiership.
  12. I do hope he didn't mean andante.
  13. Congratulations! Join the club.
  14. Since it was PLC that failed, don't these figures have to be made public?
  15. There might be some small smile of satisfaction should the figure ever be released. For now, I'll settle for a period of stability followed by steady improvement. Who knows, perhaps Barclays just got p!ssed off dealing with Rupert?
  16. How can COYR ever be described as crap???
  17. Could it be that Aviva and other creditors don't want it made public how much they are prepared to accept in settlement in case it prejudices other bankrupcy settlements?
  18. Wonderful news! I wasn't really worried. In my opinion, anyone who has enough faith in the future of our club and us supporters to put up serious cash can post messages wherever and whenever they want. The last few seasons have been pretty depressing but at last I feel that we have turned a corner. My grateful thanks go to all those who have worked so hard to pull this off. Roll on next season! When can I renew my season tickets?
  19. Look at it this way... If you were a club in League 1 would you pay £1m for him? ...thought not.
  20. 'back of the net'!
  21. That's a fair summary. Concise and succint.
  22. We shall need to have the right manager in place. I was interested to see that Sam Allardyce took over at Notts County who were then relegated but came back up next season winning the title by a 19-point margin. I may be wrong, but I don't think that Wotte falls into the same category.
  23. I was not intending to post a comprehensive list, merely suggesting that it is not a foregone conclusion that we will bounce back quickly. I deliberately excluded Championship clubs from my examples. The three clubs you mentioned have all won more glittering prizes than Saints, and even (whisper it quietly) Pompey had won a lot more than us before they spent long years in the wilderness. Comparisons with luton Town do not bear thinking about!
  24. Ah, but you haven't cited Oldham, Notts County, Swindon, Brighton, Luton. All these were in the top division at one stage.
