  1. 'back of the net'!
  2. That's a fair summary. Concise and succint.
  3. We shall need to have the right manager in place. I was interested to see that Sam Allardyce took over at Notts County who were then relegated but came back up next season winning the title by a 19-point margin. I may be wrong, but I don't think that Wotte falls into the same category.
  4. I was not intending to post a comprehensive list, merely suggesting that it is not a foregone conclusion that we will bounce back quickly. I deliberately excluded Championship clubs from my examples. The three clubs you mentioned have all won more glittering prizes than Saints, and even (whisper it quietly) Pompey had won a lot more than us before they spent long years in the wilderness. Comparisons with luton Town do not bear thinking about!
  5. Ah, but you haven't cited Oldham, Notts County, Swindon, Brighton, Luton. All these were in the top division at one stage.
  6. I agree, with the right management and a good clearout we should be able to turn it around. It's just that I remember this sort of talk when we dropped out of the PL. I can't imagine us dropping any lower though... Oh no, what have I said?
  7. It requires a big change in mentality to go from losing most of our games to winning most of them. I cannot imagine that happening overnight so I think it will take 2 to 4 seasons in League 1 before we will be back in the Championship.
  8. If he were to go there, would it change anybody's opinion of him?
  9. I'm sorry to water your bonfire but won't it take 4 years?
  10. Alan Bennett... Tony Byrne.... Colin Clarke.... Eamonn Collins.... Alan McLoughlin... Stehen O'Halloran... Iain Dowie (does he count?)
  11. We're just killing time until the takeover happens. Can we all agree on what type of new owner would be acceptable to us all ? It might save time later when they ask those in this forum if we are prepared to approve them?
  12. 'I did it. It was me.' or, "It was me what done it" is equally valid in some dialects.
  13. Hardly a 'rant', hardly a 'notion', and a bit more than an 'opinion', I would say. Certainly, getting rid of all the goalscorers was foolhardy, to say the least.
  14. More importantly, how is he doing?
  15. And how much did relegation cost? (just asking)
  16. If we're serious about getting out of this league then he's the man, but can we afford him?
  17. You wear it well
  18. If you can walk there without getting your feet wet then I guess it isn't. (and no, you're not allowed to walk through the Channel Tunnel).
  19. If so, and I have no Reason to Believe it isn't, then it will all be plain Sailing but you Keep me Hanging on. Have I told you lately that This old Heart of Mine can't take much more? Maybe Tonight's the Night?
  20. Well done Wade. These days it seems that everybody in the academy is short.
  21. Colden Common I believe.
  22. I shall be... I have booked a holiday for the last two weeks in May.
  23. Arthur Daley? I prefer 'this time next year we'll be millionaires!'
