I'm going to stick my neck out and say that with the right manager and a couple of inspired signings I believe that the gates will be at least as big as last season. I cannot believe that anybody was attracted to St. Mary's by the big-name opposition and they certainly didn't come for the quality of the football. Depending on the dates, I'm looking forward to some of the away games. Carlisle, Yeovil, Swindon and I'd certainly like to go to Bristol Rovers again and do them over.

I read a comment at the time that we couldn't build there because it is reclaimed ground. I've never found out why that was a problem, unless it meant deep foundations. ...and Pompey aren't a Premiership football club, they are a club in the Premiership.

I do hope he didn't mean andante.

Congratulations! Join the club.

Since it was PLC that failed, don't these figures have to be made public? -

There might be some small smile of satisfaction should the figure ever be released. For now, I'll settle for a period of stability followed by steady improvement. Who knows, perhaps Barclays just got p!ssed off dealing with Rupert? -
How can COYR ever be described as crap???

Could it be that Aviva and other creditors don't want it made public how much they are prepared to accept in settlement in case it prejudices other bankrupcy settlements? -
Wonderful news! I wasn't really worried. In my opinion, anyone who has enough faith in the future of our club and us supporters to put up serious cash can post messages wherever and whenever they want. The last few seasons have been pretty depressing but at last I feel that we have turned a corner. My grateful thanks go to all those who have worked so hard to pull this off. Roll on next season! When can I renew my season tickets?

Look at it this way... If you were a club in League 1 would you pay £1m for him? ...thought not.

'back of the net'!
-
That's a fair summary. Concise and succint.

We shall need to have the right manager in place. I was interested to see that Sam Allardyce took over at Notts County who were then relegated but came back up next season winning the title by a 19-point margin. I may be wrong, but I don't think that Wotte falls into the same category.

I was not intending to post a comprehensive list, merely suggesting that it is not a foregone conclusion that we will bounce back quickly. I deliberately excluded Championship clubs from my examples. The three clubs you mentioned have all won more glittering prizes than Saints, and even (whisper it quietly) Pompey had won a lot more than us before they spent long years in the wilderness. Comparisons with luton Town do not bear thinking about!
-
Ah, but you haven't cited Oldham, Notts County, Swindon, Brighton, Luton. All these were in the top division at one stage.

I agree, with the right management and a good clearout we should be able to turn it around. It's just that I remember this sort of talk when we dropped out of the PL. I can't imagine us dropping any lower though... Oh no, what have I said?
-
It requires a big change in mentality to go from losing most of our games to winning most of them. I cannot imagine that happening overnight so I think it will take 2 to 4 seasons in League 1 before we will be back in the Championship.
-
If he were to go there, would it change anybody's opinion of him?
-
I'm sorry to water your bonfire but won't it take 4 years?
-
Alan Bennett... Tony Byrne.... Colin Clarke.... Eamonn Collins.... Alan McLoughlin... Stehen O'Halloran... Iain Dowie (does he count?)
-
We're just killing time until the takeover happens. Can we all agree on what type of new owner would be acceptable to us all ? It might save time later when they ask those in this forum if we are prepared to approve them?
-
'I did it. It was me.' or, "It was me what done it" is equally valid in some dialects.
-
Hardly a 'rant', hardly a 'notion', and a bit more than an 'opinion', I would say. Certainly, getting rid of all the goalscorers was foolhardy, to say the least.
-
More importantly, how is he doing?
-
And how much did relegation cost? (just asking)
