We can't defend and Swansea are on a roll, I'll give them 2 or 3 goals. We've got an unsettled team and a caretaker manager, I'll give us about 1 goal. That means I expect us to lose 0-2 or 1-3 ... ... again.
I agree. It's just that we seem to keep on buying expensive talents and then treat them like workhorses. All the while that these players are on the books they are depreciating assets. Just imagine what sort of a team we could have had with Skacel, Rrasiak, John, Saganowski regularly available. We need the 'big' names to bring in the home crowds and win games. Who's going to pay to watch Molyneux? We have budgeted for failure and that is what we shall achieve.
'He who thinks he can and he who thinks he can't are both right'
So we need to win 7 or 8 games out of 17. The teams just above us are winning regularly. We need two quick wins just to get back in touch with the others. Something has got to change and very quickly. We absolutely must play all our best players at every opportunity. This is no time to play around with formations or fringe players. That means Skacel, Euell, Saganowski, BWP in for every game and go for everything full-tilt.
Of course it's a failure. Goal difference of -18, only one win at home, 3 points behind the drop line, pathetic crowds, boring football - it's about as clear a definition of failure as I have ever seen.
What we need is someone who can not only inspire the players but more importantly fire the enthusiasm of all those supporters who have found better things to do on a Saturday afternoon. Wotte is not that man.
I just said that they had swapped them, not that they were new. It's the same with our two dutch dunces. They can swap jobs but the result's the same. Happy DIY!
I logged on and saw that Poortvliet had gone and my heart leapt. Then I saw that Wotte had taken his place and my depression got even deeper. Wotte on earth is the point? My local B&Q has just swapped its entrance and exit doors. That'll have more effect on their sales than this will on our results.
