  1. But it reduces the likelihood of either. By quite a lot.
  2. He’s on a contract so we can’t just let him go. Whilst we’re paying him we ought to use him in some way or another.
  3. I’m not worried about him infecting me, but if I’m in a restaurant with multiple members of my family I wouldn’t want him sitting anywhere near us.
  4. I didn’t see anything about asymptomatic transmission in that report, only about how effective they assumed the vaccine to be about infection or hospitalisation. Asymptomatic transmission could only occur through someone who had no symptoms but yet had caught and developed the disease. Well, yes, of course they’re discriminatory, they’re supposed to be. All systems will have their flaws and testing is possible less definitive than knowing that someone has been vaccinated some time ago. There’s no point arguing over modest differences in effectiveness but other reports show that all vaccines are well worth having. https://www.haaretz.com/world-news/europe/pfizer-vaccine-is-88-effective-against-delta-covid-variant-u-k-study-finds-1.10018272 https://www.forbes.com/sites/carlieporterfield/2021/07/21/study-finds-pfizer-and-astrazeneca-vaccines-effective-against-the-delta-variant---as-long-as-you-get-both-doses/?sh=5f6192c6480b
  5. Thanks for the update, but that’s not the same thing as asymptomatic transmission.
  6. Children are much less likely to pass on the infection for the same reason that they are less affected by it. I have some sympathy for the general point that allowance should be made for those who have not had a chance to get vaccinated or who cannot. Possibly by means of a negative test although the lateral flow tests that the UK uses are not intended to be used as a green light.
  7. As an unvaccinated potential carrier he is a much bigger danger than someone who has been vaccinated. You might argue that he is much more of a danger to other unvaccinated people like himself than he is to those who have seen sense. Asymptomatic transmission by vaccinated people is so small as to be negligible. I don’t know where you get your figure of 60% from.
  8. You are a danger to society whether you like it or not. Nobody is forcing you to get vaccinated. Just don’t expect to go freely amongst the rest of the world if they don’t want you to.
  9. So, less than 0.5% of the population and you think this is significant?
  10. But they encourage people to get vaccinated. And they do help a lotto reduce the spread too.
  11. It’s not normally paid over as a taxable salary these days. Much of it goes as ‘image rights’ and would therefore be paid to some separate company.
  12. I know. I couldn’t find the right emoji .
  13. I would put that the other way around.
  14. That’s a pity. I was looking forward to that I see Ralph’s rotating the goalkeepers again 🥺
  15. If they ever saw the size of needle that you need to microchip a dog then these idiotic rumours would soon stop. I blame science fiction film writers myself. Besides, who needs microchips when Apple and Google already know every step of your life anyway?
  16. That seems pretty definitive. One more off the books should allow some room for some coming in.
  17. I don’t think that ethics entered the mind of these youngsters who choose not to have a vaccine. It seems to me to be a self-centred choice, but that is there prerogative.
  18. Yet the young will willingly smoke, take recreational drugs of dubious quality and get rat-arsed without worrying about any consequences.
  19. People who, like, say ‘like’.
  20. Season tickets will be sent out dometime in August and will be the usual smart card. I don't know about memberships. The Times on Wednesday said that the Premier League is discussing whether there wil be any need for any sort of 'Covid passport'. Plans for compulsory Covid passports for fans The Premier League is in talks with clubs over the introduction of compulsory Covid passports for fans from the start of the season — even if it is not required by the government. Rules for supporters to show proof of a double vaccination or a negative lateral flow test to get into sporting events are not expected before the autumn but the league has proposed “going early” with its own policy, to counter any threat of cuts in crowd capacity. Some clubs had discussed introducing their own Covid passport schemes for the new season, which starts on August 13, but Premier League chiefs are understood to have decided that it would be better if all 20 clubs had the same policy. The government’s rules for the Covid certification policy are expected to cover only sports events with a capacity of more than 20,000. That would mean Brentford, newly promoted to the top flight, would not be covered by those regulations but the club would have to follow the Premier League policy. Ministers plan to make proof of double jabs or a negative test compulsory for nightclubs and other “crowded venues” — though not pubs — from the end of September. The rules for sporting events may come later in the autumn, though some may follow the Premier League’s idea and introduce passport requirements earlier. Anyone not vaccinated must show proof of a negative test — as was required at Euro 2020 matches at Wembley. The 20 top-flight clubs lost more than £1 billion combined from missing out on match-day income last season, with some losing as much as £5 million per game. A senior executive at one Premier League club told The Times: “Any cut in capacity would be a disaster for many clubs after everything we have endured. We need to find something that can guarantee full stadiums whatever is happening and the Covid certification scheme has been proven to work.”
  21. Ridiculous price tag though.
  22. We are never going to control it and never could. All that we can do is to try and slow its spread for a while but as things stand now what is the point of that and is it even a good idea? We were in Devon and Cornwall in early June and because all the restaurants and cafes asked us to sign in with the app I downloaded it. Then I got fed up with it nagging me every time that I went to flight mode so I deleted it and signed a sheet when required. We have both been double jabbed since the end of April So I don't feel any guilt at all. At the moment it sems that pings are spreading faster than the virus itself. Whether this will slow down once the sun stops and the rains start we shall have to wait and see.
  23. What happens when we run out of Greek letters? Do we start using alternate boy/girl names like they do with hurricanes?
  24. The glassy, staring eyes with a blank look in them?
  25. Extra time off for having been at Euro 2020?
