  1. Next round is week commencing 25th October.
  2. Tomorrow night after West Brom v Arsenal
  3. Indeed. At the very least he should have been told to go and stand on the touch line.
  4. I went along to the Bournemouth QPR game last week. Only the referee and the three QPR forwards took the knee. I think the stadium announcer phrased it very well. After a preamble about how everybody was against racism in all its forms he said that whether an individual player might choose to take the knee or not we ought to respect their decision.
  5. Whether or not you think that he is likely to score is irrelevant. He is entitled to have the opportunity without being taken out.
  6. Interesting. How brave of him then to build a skyscraper and call it Trump Tower. Does he have an office there on the ground floor?
  7. @Weston Super Saint re supply & demand That’s an often quoted principle but why is it that when my customers demand a larger quantity they also demand a lower price for a larger quantity? Anyway, as any businessman will tell you at the moment, demand is in short supply.
  8. You can shield the ball provided it is within playing distance but in this case Armstrong sticks his leg across to protect the ball and Walker then tries to hook his leg around to win it. I don’t think Walker ever touched the ball which was under Armstrong’s control so in my view it was a foul and therefore a penalty. Not a red card though.
  9. So how is anybody going to get to an away game this season if they have to have been to an away game this season?
  10. That didn’t take long. Do they know about the buy-back clause?
  11. The second one was at least. Have a look at the leg that he trails along the ground. He wasn’t tripped, he just dive forward over the defender. That’s what nasty little cheats do.
  12. I suspect it was because he wanted to get the defensive system established before trying to be more expansive.
  13. One of the all time greats. I saw him play at White Hart Lane a few times and I was there when he came back with West Ham and scored with a header (if I remember correctly). He could drop a shoulder and defenders would simply jump out of the way. This news makes me feel old.
  14. Since it was the referee himself who changed his mind does it have to be a clear and obvious error?
  15. That’s a seriously good result and something to build on. When you’re building a team you start from the back and then once you’ve established that platform you try to be more adventurous.
  16. Insulation- like Grenfell?
  17. There was a Spitting Image episode with Clive Sinclair in a C5. Clive: “Would you like to have a ride in my invalid carriage?” Answer: “But I’m not an invalid” Clive: “You haven’t ridden in it yet”
  18. No. The world’s economy is larger than the world’s largest economy.
  19. There are so many falsehoods and inaccuracies in there that it would take too long to refute them all but if you believe all this then it’s no wonder that you might have voted to leave.
  20. He’s still not sure even now.
  21. A good friend of mine at Cambridge worked for him in the early 70s and I asked him if Clive had a research and development section. “Yes”, he said, “himself”. Sadly my friend succumbed to prostate cancer in his mid thirties. I remember when he started in the 1960s selling small home electronics kits through sensationalistic adverts in the hobby magazines. They never worked as well as promised and it used to be said that he made his money from the kits that were thrown in the bin. His first wife used to help him pack the kits on their kitchen table and when they got divorced she successfully used this to win a bigger divorce settlement. I was never really impressed by any of his developments myself but he seemed to capture the public imagination. How apt that he died at the age of 81. If only he’d called it the ZX105 he might still be with us.
  22. Pity. That’s another to add to my list of lifetime disappointments.
