Actually, many of the Super League Rugby League teams have had major problems with the UK Border Agency over work permits for their Australian and New Zealand imports.
The Club have said diddly-squat about this transfer and you may not be used to a professional set up (because we've never had one before) but they do not/will not announce a signing until pen has been put to paper. Murty being a case in point!
Looks like we can appeal to a 'Panel' and it may get approved because of his past record, however if it's not it looks like he wouldn't be able to stay in the UK at all.
But maybe that's the point. He is an EX international footballer looking to sign for a 3RD TIER English football club. Probably does not give him enough points on the Immigration visa/wp scheme.
On trial and proving his fitness. Different scenario. Allegedly, this was sorted (including medical) on Monday and supposed to be announced yesterday. Now we are 90 mins from COB Wednesday. IMO, something has gone wrong and will not now happen.
Wiki had this earlier but then deleted it!
Jaidi joined Southampton on August 4th 2009. He signed on a free transfer and agreed a 1 year deal with the option of a 2nd year and he will be given the number 6 shirt.
It depends how far you travel to the games? In the SO, SP, BH, RG, GU and PO postcode areas, then I would agree. From further afield, you can't blame people staying at home (or going to the pub) to watch it.
