    Russia

Well I would just like to congratulate Vladimir on an excellent, hard fought victory. It's incredible to think that, even after all these years, he's still so popular with the Russian voters that they keep re-electing him. He must be such a wonderful, caring leader to garner so much respect and support from such a diverse range of cultures all across Russia.
  2. Wow. Well done Cov. Fully deserved.
  3. That's got to be a red card.
  4. Cracking effort from Cov, this. Lemina having one of his can't-be-arsed days in midfield is probably helping, mind.
  5. Fucking hell! How many times does VAR have to replay this before making a decision?
  6. This is the long and short of it. For many people, the way to express dissatisfaction at the status quo is to vote against it, without thinking about what they are actually voting for. I vividly remember the vox pops after the Brexit vote, where numerous people said they didn't care whether we stayed in the EU or not, but they voted leave purely because they didn't like David Cameron's government and blindly believed that voting for a change would improve things. So we can argue all we like about whether people should be more financially responsible, but it doesn't change the fact that plenty of people aren't and will blame the government for their current situation regardless.
  7. And what if the reason they are struggling to repay their mortgage once rates rise is because they've been subjected to year upon year of below inflation wage increases? Is that still their own fault?
  8. It's all very well pointing to personal responsibility, but it ignores the fact that entire point of reducing interests rates is to encourage people to borrow what they otherwise wouldn't be able to afford in order to get the economy moving. It's like dangling a carrot and then criticising the donkey for actually taking it. People are like lemmings (from the old video game, not real ones). If you give them the opportunity to do something, they will always do it. If you offer people cheap mortgage rates, how many people are honestly going to turn down the opportunity to take one out and buy a home because rates *might* go up again in future?
  9. Best comment I've seen today... "Lee Anderson's defection to Reform UK has had the unusual effect of increasing the average IQ of both parties".
  10. Yeah it was a pathetic attempt at a block. He needed to take a step forward to stop it completely, but it was just a half-arsed effort in the end.
  11. That's a pretty terrible excuse if so. Really fucking poor from the club to neglect this.
  12. I agree it's unlikely, but stranger things have happened. If we win our game in hand against Preston then we're 6 points behind them. Beat them at their place, which given their current form isn't that far fetched, then the gap is only 3. I know we don't look like auto contenders with our current defending, but I'm not gonna give up hope just yet.
  13. I've just been to see it, and based on your post, it's times like these that I'm glad I've never read the books and could just enjoy the film at face value. The only frame of reference I have is the 1984 David Lynch version, which I did like when I was younger, but its many flaws are laid bare by the depth of DV's films. My only slight gripe is with the casting - as much as I like Rebecca Ferguson, she simply doesn't look old enough to be Timothee Chalamet's mum (she's only about 11 years older than him), so it's not convincing. But on the flip side, Austin Butler is infinitely more menacing as Feyd Rautha than Sting was 🤣
  14. They've probably made the decision, but just can't announce it because the media team have been evacuated from the offices and can't log on to their Twitter account etc...
  15. That will fund a full meal a day for Lee Anderson's constituents. Not to be sniffed at!
  16. If SMS has been evacuated then there is pretty much zero chance of the game going ahead tonight, and probably explains why the club haven't made any kind of statement on social media yet.
  17. Or alternatively it points to a large variation in the level of training/experience of the diagnosing clinicians from area to area. Which I know to be the case.
  18. The Utd one was just a travesty all round. We only had 9 fit senior players and realistically we should have requested to have the game postponed like so many others were for the same reason during Covid, and the officiating was just a sick joke that night. We started with two kids from the U23s, one of whom got himself sent off after 2 minutes. At face value, the challenge was worthy of a red card, but Dean really should have accounted for the fact that he was a very young lad making his senior debut, and given him a yellow with a final warning of "one more foul and you're off". We had a goal disallowed because Lee Mason on VAR was somehow able to tell that Che's fingernail was offside, and then he and Dean between them somehow managed to completely ignore the fact that there was no contact from Bednarek on Martial whatsoever and sent him off as well. It was painful to watch, and obviously reflects badly on everyone involved, but I don't really put it in the same category as the Leicester one because there were far more mitigating circumstances.
  19. Anyone else hear that in Snoop Dogg's voice? 🤔
  20. Mostly left 😉
  21. You're assuming he got a shout from Manning. No way of knowing from the replays. Having just watched the highlights back again, I'm also at a loss to understand want RM was doing for their first goal. He's virtually on the penalty spot when the ball is played in, leaving not one but two players completely unmarked at the back. And please nobody try and tell me that's tactical.
  22. You've clearly taken a long time to think about and type this post, and you may well have a point about what Russ is asking him to do. But none of that explains how fucking useless he was in dealing with that second goal on Saturday. His position and inability to cover the attacker when the ball was launched forward by the keeper had nothing to do with 'tucking in' due to the RB being in a forward position, and everything to do with a total failure to anticipate danger, which is a basic pre-requisite for a defender.
