I think in the grand scheme of things, there are plenty more important things to criticise SR for than the kit designs. But I do fully agree with you that this season's home kit is absolute fucking garbage, despite whatever dewy-eyed nostalgia it evokes in fans of a certain vintage.

Cautiously optimistic, yes. But 'very positive' is pushing it.

Not everybody was happy about it though. Plenty of us were dubious (to say the least), and many had a reluctant acceptance based on the run of games while he was interim. But to say everyone was happy is rewriting history somewhat.

He flung himself across before the striker has even made contact, and if he'd put it a few inches higher then there would have been nothing he could have done to stop it because he was already in mid air. Like I said - I'll give him credit for preventing a goal, but let's not pretend it was a world class piece of goalkeeping, because there was quite clearly a large element of luck involved.

Echo clearly have a different definition of 'world class' from me. I'll give him credit for stopping the goal, but IMO desperately lunging into the area that a shot is likely to be and getting lucky that the striker hits it straight at his face doesn't in any way constitute 'world class'.

I'd settle for one who at least tries to do something different when the setup clearly isn't working. Even if that doesn't work either, at least there would be some recognition that something needs tweaking. To just keep persisting with the same system over and over, despite all the available evidence pointing towards it not working, and then claim afterwards that he's happy with the performances... it's fucking insane.

Sadly, you weren't wrong. It was another massive mistake. And it was so predictable and avoidable as well.

It was so obvious after getting those 4 consecutive wins that they would give it to him. I would say "in hindsight" it was probably the worst thing that could have happened, but hindsight wasn't needed because it was clear at the time that appointing him would be just another pointless gamble to add to the ever-growing collection.
