Probably because of this little extract from the Wiki page... Best not let dune know your great grandfather was a Commie sympathiser eh? -

Wrong.... -
Yes, I know. But the example I gave of yesterday's race to back up my previous point regarding Turkey. With tyres that had done the same amount of laps, the DRS enabled Webber and Button to just breeze past Schumi without any sort of challenge, and this is the man who never lets anybody past him easily. Therefore I maintain my position that the DRS makes it far too easy for drivers to get past a very-slightly-slower car in front. They don't need to take a risk to get past any more and the sport is worse off for it.
-
And I have to disagree. Just look at the speed advantage that Webber and Button had over MSC on the back straight when their tyre wear would have been about the same. There was never any question that Schumi would defend the position when all they had to do was activate the DRS and just breeze past him.
-
All teams do have it, but the rules stipulate that it can only be used when you are following another car and are within 1 second of him. Schumi didn't stand a chance because as the car in front he wasn't allowed to use his DRS. I made this point after the Turkish GP earlier in the season when Button was struggling with his tyres a bit late on in the race but was completely helpless to defend his position because the DRS made it far too easy for the following drivers to get past.
-
Not a chance. Button clearly had his nose in front in the braking zone and Alonso just shut the door on him.

Wow. After all the waiting I'm so glad I stuck with it. So pleased for Jenson. Got tagged twice, once by his team-mate, had a drive through penalty and was last - 3 seconds behind the HRTs - after the penultimate safety car. Surely that was the best win of his career. Don't know what's going through Hamilton's head at the moment. It's like he's driving touring cars in a computer game with his over-enthusiasm to get past everyone. It's a shame Schumi didn't get a podium after by far his best race since his come-back. Great drive from Di Resta until he got a bit clumsy and broke his front wing. This lad has a lot of potential. Have to agree with Jack Frost though... What is the point in having full-wet tyres if they are just going to keep the safety car out until it's dry enough for inters? Best moment of the day: Button's girlfriend ripping the p155 out of Vettel's finger celebration :-) Best race I've seen in a long, long time.

He wasn't a bad guy though, and his accent didn't sound anything like any Irish person I have ever heard. -

Are you serious dune? Frodo - played by an American doing an attempt at a posh English accent Samwise - played by an American actor doing a South-west English accent Meriadoc - played by an English actor doing a similarly south-west English accent Pippin - played by a Scottish actor making no attempt to disguise his Scottish accent Bilbo - played by Ian Holm who is about as English as they come. -

Well yes, given that the book was written by an Englishman, and that a lot of the actors used were British-based, it probably made perfect sense. You're going to have to give us a much better example if you want us all to accept your notion that 'Hollywood uses English accents for the bad guys'. Come on... Give me an example of a Hollywood film, set in the US with an American protagonist, where the bad guy had an English accent. And it doesn't count if the actor playing the bad guy happens to be English. -

So the fact that Gandalf, the hobbits, the elves, and all the human populations of Gondor and Rohan (basically ALL the good guys) had English accents as well means nothing to you??? Muppet. -

I don't think anybody is suggesting that the achievements of Barnes Wallis and 617 squadron are offensive. Far from it in fact, and that's probably why this remake is being made so that the younger generation, who may be unaware of the story, can be informed of what an outstanding achievement it was. But surely you can see why this decision has been taken can't you? -

Are you really surprised though dune? It was pretty inevitable really. And FWIW, I agree with what Stephen Fry said in that article... But then cultural sensitivity has never really been your strong point has it. -
Does Hamilton think he's in Whacky Races this season or something? That's four incidents in two races which, IMO anyway, were all his fault.

Yeah that's the one I go to in Sheffield.

I eat very little bread, and only a small amount of pasta and potatoes really. Like I said, I'm pretty conscious about my diet although I am aware that I could reduce my alcohol intake a bit. I'm not a binge drinker but I will usually have a little bit to drink 2 or 3 nights a week. There are some classes available at my gym, like spinning and aerobics, but I've watched them a bit and I'm not confident that I am yet at a level where I could keep up. Don't do running. I've never been able to run any more than about 100 yards without feeling like my lungs are collapsing.

Right, I've reached the ripe old age of 36 and I have decided it is time to get properly fit for the first time in my life. I'm no slob, but I have always been a bit chunky and have never really been what you could describe as slim. Now I've had enough and I have set myself the goal of riding the Trans-Pennine Trail coast-to-coast route on my bike - either this autumn or next spring. I've been going to a local gym for a couple of months now, and obviously I have been spending a lot of that time on the bikes, as well as doing some weights and using the rowing machines as well. The thing is, although I do notice a slight improvement in my overall fitness levels and I can go longer at a higher level on the machines than I could when I first started, I just can't seem to get rid of this band of belly-fat around my waist. I'm not vain by any means and I really don't care how big or small I look, but I recognise that I can never be truly fit as long as I am carrying round this excess weight. My diet is pretty good and I am always conscious of how much fat and cholesterol I am intaking, I just can't get rid of it. I'm assuming that a fair few of you will be regular gym-goers or fitness fanatics (the very existence of this forum is dependent on a sporting club after all) so my question to all of you is: What exercise regimes do you maintain to keep your weight down and your fitness levels up, and what machines at the gym do you recommend I use to 'beat the belly'?

It wouldn't surprise me in the slightest. Despite the poison dwarf's protestations to the contrary, Formula one IS all about the money, so if the sponsors decide they didn't want their reputations tarnished then it is they who have the ultimate authority.

My personal view is that most of the mainstream music you hear these days is utter garbage, but there are still musicians making seriously good music if you have the time to look for their material. In my last job I was allowed to listen to internet radio on my headphones at my desk and I came across this site. OK it's American, and you have to put up with annoying American adverts if you don't subscribe to VIP, but the amount of stations catering to pretty much all tastes is awesome, and through this I discovered some fantastic music that would otherwise have completely passed me by. My current favourite band is Bonobo. Not commercial by any stretch of the imagination (though I did hear one track on a TV advert a while back) and most people I speak to have never heard of them, yet the last two albums (Days to Come and Black Sands) are phenomenally good.

Crikey dune! Supporting the rights of low-paid public sector workers? Perhaps there is a bit of socialist in you after all

From the BBC article... Yeah, stability has returned because your despotic royal family drafted in the Saudi army to assist in ruthlessly oppressing any form of dissent, even going as far as kidnapping and murdering doctors and nurses for the heinous crime of treating protestors. This world is ******* sick!
