Tories allow foreign criminals and terrorists to enter UK.

Teresa May is a bloody disaster anyways. And how she ever became equalities minister with her voting record is beyond me. -

Also, I am getting tired of this growing hysteria over whether someone is wearing a poppy or not or whether a group is promoting it(and then if they aren't wearing them, hounding them). It's the kind of fascism we beat in wars and it's not just me who says this. Many do. Oh, and this doesn't mean I'm being heartless and don't care. I've visited the factory where poppies are made and met the people who make them all year round by hand. I wear my poppy every year and most importantly donate money towards the Royal Legion for the great work it does.

I have to agree, Remembrance Sunday should be Remembrance Sunday, not remembrance month. Surely the main issue here is raising money to help injured soldiers and soldiers faces problems post-service, not continuous silences.

UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
It doesn't matter if it won't be on the agenda for years. If people like me keep banging on about it, there is a chance that eventually it will squeeze its way back on to the agenda. But if we shut up for 25 years, well... it'll never get on the agenda. -
UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?

I hate to labour a point, and I know I do this on electoral reform... but it wouldn't be so unrealistic if we had PR. You'd know your vote counted towards an MP in parliament! Nearly everyone would have representation. -
UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
In democracy, you should be able to vote for whoever you think most aligns with your views, whether that be UKIP, Conservative or indeed the Liberal Democrats. It shouldn't be meaningless or seen as meaningless. You're stating what you want to said and done at Westminster for the next 4/5 years. -
UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Well, thank you for saying that. And sorry for saying you said Lib Dems were retarded, that was Dune, but you were still very dismissive of Liberal Democrats in an arrogant manner in my opinion. And I wasn't saying I have substantial life experience, although I obviously have some, and a lot of people's opinions are formed I think by childhood experiences. I personally think that some 18 year olds have thought through their opinions a lot more than some 60 year olds, and of course it can be the other way too. A person can only form opinions based on their own judgement and experience and less experience in an area doesn't immediately mean they should be ignored. -

In fairness, you have given abuse in the past/shown disrespect for others views so you are being a hypocrite here. -

I just saw your other post. Just because someone is young, it doesn't mean they can't have an opinion/air an opinion, even if they do change their mind over time. See my point re-silencing people. If you think I am wrong you should try and engage me in debate rather than calling me retarded and not knowing anything about politics. And even at 18, people can have substantial life experience in many areas. I respect your point of view because I believe in democracy and the free market of ideas. All I ask is you respect mine as well and engage me in debate, not just retarded which won't convince anyone. -
UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Well, I still support the Liberal Democrats and even if I am very anti-tuition fee rise, I understand why it had to happen due to the constraints of coalition, so I wouldn't include myself in the angry group of people who stopped supporting the lib dems because of it. What were your other points, I swear you just said that at least I admit students are naive??? -

Yes, but they will learn from it, from their first political experience if you like. -

Oh course I admit they have a naive view, in that they believe everything politicians say, not that they don't understand issues. -
UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Oh yes for sure. The big issues will hit them hard, especially on tuition fees, as that was against students who often have a very naive view of politics. They won't forgive easily on what was their first big engagement with politics. And yes, the Liberal Democrats generally support more direct democracy full stop. They even want an in-out EU referendum, but when the time is right... i.e the next treaty change. And thank-you for sensibly stating why you are becoming more and more anti-EU rather than just foaming at the mouth and saying I am a young idiot and therefore wrong. Now I actually have something of value to think about. And to everyone who has called the young know it all and so on and then goes on to say that Liberal Democrats views are retarded and know nothing about politics are hypocrites. Everyone's opinion should be listened to and put in the free market of ideas and no-one should be silenced and called stupid because you never know if you are the one who is wrong. Even if one person holds an opinion, and rest of society holds a different opinion, that one person should never be silenced. -

Not really. Youth turn out is very low, so in actual voters, quite a low proportion are students. -

Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Actually, the Liberal Democrat manifesto was properly costed and would have worked. They just had different priorities, but obviously as it's a coalition, they can't put it all in place. You are also wrong to say that most liberal democrat voters are student types - For example 26% of men 45-54 voted Lib Dem. http://www.ipsos-mori.com/researchpublications/researcharchive/poll.aspx?oItemId=2613 -
In fairness, he wasn't disagreeing with you and was making a very good in depth point, probably much more thoughtful than the rage some have on this thread(including myself). The kid is a ****, but you have to ask, why do we produce these ****s?

UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Some voters will of course switch to UKIP, but in opinion polls Liberal Democrat voters are always much more pro-EU than the other parties so are more likely to switch to Labour(as they have been doing... liberal democrat collapse may cost the Tories dear). But I have to ask why did you vote Lib Dem if you liked UKIP as well?! Or is your euro-scepticism a recent thing? There was a look into coalition policy and how much had become a reality and actually they found out 75% of Liberal Democrat manifesto had become policy and only 60% of Tory manifesto had become policy. So while they have had to break some pledges due to the necessity of coalition, they are not breaking almost every pledge. And I still reckon that the Lib Dems will do alright at the general election, they always dip dramatically between elections and people have short political memories. -
I concur, I don't think this is one for left-wing/right-wing point scoring. Most think its despicable, regardless of belief.

UKIP set to overtake Lib Dems as 3rd largest party?
Saintandy666 replied to trousers's topic in The Lounge
Yes, 'genitically'(sic). Anyways... I don't really understand how you lot can just say anyone who votes Lib Dem is retarded and doesn't know about politics. I think you lot show a lack of respect for democracy and to be honest bad understanding of what the Liberal Democrats are. And labour aren't socialist... they are 'the third way' which is no way socialism. -

Yep, I think the Tories have suffered from that for sure. But the left-wing vote is spilt too between Lib Dems and Labour, so it could go either way.
