It is not a lifestyle decision!!!!! Everyone is going to have sex, if you want to have it with men you should be allowed to. Obviously if no one had sex, there would be no STD's, but then we would all die out. A much more sensible solution is condoms which the catholic church preaches against causing thousands to develop aids every year.

I am allowed to object to his views(his views on contraception are dangerous), as I stated in my original post. I am also allowed to object to his actions, which I have already explained and I think everyone would agree with me when I say that covering up child rapists and paedophiles is wrong. Some of the stuff he comes out with is just unhelpful also like the comment about atheism being on the same level as fascism. Me objecting to what he stands for is not bigoted, it's freedom of speech. I don't object to him being coming here, but it should not be a state visit. Also, being gay isn't a lifestyle choice. You have totally missed the point of what we are saying. We aren't criticising the pope because he is Catholic. We are criticising him because of his bigoted views and perhaps more importantly the way he IGNORED child abuse and RAPE. Yes... child abuse and rape.

He protected them!!!!! He should at the very least hand them over to the proper authorities? Also, it's not like it is any old catholics doings this, it is the priests... I hope you are not seriously advocating keeping child rapists on the streets.

I am not demonising him. I am merely quoting him and some of his churches view. I totally respect that religion gives people faith and that can be good. However, I do not see why I should give a church that is responsible for slowing down so much social and scientific development respect. I am not hating on religion. Churches and religion are two different things. Why should I respect someone with backwards views? Why am I not allowed to highlight these views for the absurdness they contain?

Hitler ran some good social programmes that improved the german economy, and the life of germans... you have to look at the whole picture. You can't just discount opinions and actions just because there are some good things that happened.

Not necessarily, homophobia isn't really too much an issue these days in schools and colleges like it used to be. These days it's more about class if I'm honest and I should know, I'm there!

Why does the parents being gay change anything? :S How does that affect their parenting skills... I know many people who have been brought up in single parent families(the closest example similar to gay adoption I can think of), where obviously they don't really have either a Dad or a Mum and they have turned out all absolutely fine.

9/11 was awful. Pure awful and some of the stuff that happened that day is just pure nasty. BUT, I have to agree with 1976... Americans and others act like 9/11 was the worst thing that ever happened ever(probably only because it was in America), and while it was bad, there are so many more worse events and tragedies that get totally forgotten. And I guess I should be in keeping with the thread by saying that I had just come home from school and my brother said to me that planes had gones into the Twin Towers and it was on the TV and I just sat down and watched. I won't forget some of the images of people jumping a 100 storeys to their deaths

TheAmazingAthiest on youtube burned the Qu'ran, The Bible and The God Delusion.
