  1. Nelson Mandela is frail these days 92...
  2. What annoys me most is when people say we are like Greece because our deficit last year was the same size. Greece's economy is several times smaller and not as diverse as ours. Our economy can take that hit as long as it isn't consistent (Greece's can't) Anyone who says that is clearly playing to crowds...
  3. Our percentage national debt is actually quite low compared to most other rich developed countries. HOWEVER, the deficit only adds to it... our economy can sustain 30-40% debt though. Also, how anyone can say the labour party of the 70's and 80's is extremely like the labour party of today is beyond me. Labour has abandoned its socialist routes, it is no longer a socialist party(Blair, Campbell, Mandelson, Brown and co made sure of it!). When will people understand this?!??!
  4. If both parents earn 43,999 a year, they get to keep child benefit. That's dumb.
  5. Rupert Lowe was okay. His problem was he didn't/couldn't invest when we were on the brink of establishing ourselves as a bigger club, hence failure.
  6. Dune, you are so so so wrong on this. I don't think I can be bothered to make my point again. I've said what I'm going to say. New Labour are not and never were in any way a socialist party. That is all. Liberty and Economic policy can not be measured on the same scale. Hitler for example was centreish left wing in much of his economic policy, but extremely what I would guess you would call right wing authoritarian in his social policy. Social and Economic policy and freedoms are not necessarily linked.
  7. I'm quite aware of what left wing/right wing is. No major parties in our country are particularly left wing. How was Labour socialist when in power??? I would argue that Tony Blair was centre right, clashing with the more left wing Tories, people like Ken Clarke, so called One Nation Conservatives. Let's do the first test for socialism. Were Labour in support Nationalisation and so called 'common ownership' or Privatisation? Labour wanted more privatisation; in fact they did make moves to further privatise the economy while in power. A second test... Socialists would also want proper Equality of Outcome and redistribution of wealth and that totally happened under labour(not). A third test... socialists dislike private property ownership, any proof that labour did anything to harm private property during their time in power? The Left-Right scale is purely an economic policy measurement and if you think that labour or the conservatives are on the left side of this scale then you clearly don't understand it. What you are talking about is freedom. This can not be measured on the traditional left-right scale.
  8. You clearly have no idea what socialism is if you think Labour these days are socialist.
  9. No, I just don't think you need to be married to have family values. The birth certificate thing is a little bit odd, but again... they aren't married. I'm sure he loves his son and treats him just as well as any other father, in fact probably better than many fathers, whose names are on the birth certificates. It really is irrelevant.
  10. Ed Miliband isn't a socialist. He is slightly left of centre at best. This whole story has nothing to do with anything.
  11. It isn't. They aren't married, why would they have a joint ownership necessarily... some married people don't. Why is this odd at all? Why does it matter? What has it got to do with any of his policy ideas? All this castigation over his personal life, particularly him not being married is totally irrelevant to anything at all in a modern society.
  12. I don't really know enough about this to comment on it. What is pointless is half the reforms in the NHS White Paper. Getting rid of PTC's is pointless. Giving loads of control over the NHS budget to GP's is pointless too, they don't have the time. They will just hire the sacked PCT people to do it for them. Most of the paper is just an example of how to waste millions of pounds.
  13. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1317252/Why-Ed-Miliband-lodger-1-6m-home.html Another irrelevant story :/
  14. ??????
  15. Get rid of PCSO's. What a load of **** that is, half of them don't seem to do their job when I have been out and about drinking.
  16. Prehaps the 2 child policy. I would prefer a cut off rate, say combined household income of £50000 plus and you don't get it at all? 50% tax band should be lowered to £100,000 too.
  17. **** yer, Butterfield. That's my bad there, as I was typing I was thinking to myself when will Richardson be back?!?!?! Hence zeeee mistake. It's been ages with his dislocated shoulder...
  18. 04/05 - 71 Range up to first : 27 Teams over 80: 2 05/06 - 71 Range up to first : 11 Teams over 80: 1 06/07 - 75 Range up to first : 16 Teams over 80: 4 07/08 - 76 Range up to first : 16 Teams over 80: 4 08/09 - 76 Range up to first : 20 Teams over 80: 5 09/10 - 80 Range up to first : 15 (just 6 between 6th and 2nd) Teams over 80: 6 Right, I looked this up to demonstrate how last year was a harder year. Higher points threshold for 6th, basically 2 extra wins needed than the year before. Also, a lower range meaning a more competitive year. Same for amount of teams getting over 80 points... Well, I have no life. Make of that what you will!
  19. Last year was an extremely difficult year to get promoted from. I can't remember the exact stats, but the points needed to get into the playoffs was high due to the unusual amount of quality teams in the division. No-one is looking like running away with it at the moment.
  20. Very impressed yesterday. Only slight downer on the day was that we couldn't manage to get a goal from open play, but in all honesty it was hard when they were hacking us left right and centre, hence two penalties and a sending off(ignoring when puncheon was clear on goal and he brought it back to the free kick). I thought that basically everyone played brilliant and I think today showed how much we missed Lallana. Remember that he is still coming back to full fitness. Morgan was brilliant and bossed midfield. Fonte was as good as ever. And personally, I thought Butterfield put in an excellent performance also; always managed to get there. Seabourne was a bit dogey for the first part of the game but eventually he settled in well, but he kept not winning in the air. Lambert still isn't there and I don't know why. Personally I would have subbed him and not Barnard as he works so hard every game. Would have been nice to see Guly a little bit more also but that is a minor qualm. Overall, VERY HAPPY.
  21. This report is bull****. It shows a possible genetic link in 16% of the cases of ADHD it looked at. It shows that many genetics could be one factor, but not the only factor. At present, these 'findings' are not substantiated enough to actually prove anything. It is mere coincidence as far as I am concerned until further information is discovered. I hate all newspapers and how they misrepresent scientific papers. Often, if you go and read the paper for yourself after the media storm, you'll find what the paper says and concludes isn't really what the headline is.
  22. Kevin Phillips.
  23. Both retarded.
  24. The bank of england always changes old notes into new notes.
  25. Roman Catholicism isn't deliberately malicious. Scientology and those at the top of it are.
