  1. i don't quite understand Hammond's inclusion. Lallana gets vote purely because he is the most entertaining player to watch and backs with assits and goals. Harding has only had about three bad games for us, otherwise very reliable at left-back.
  2. Fairly obvious top two play-offs are the very very least. No promotiion will mean the loss of key players in the squad and will be a huge step backwards. Having said that, football isn't played on paper and as we already know, it won't be easy!
  3. how about this guy if they were to let him drop down for a month and he wanted fitness, very ambitious, but just what we need: http://www.sportinglife.com/football/live_feed/story_get.cgi?STORY_NAME=soccer/10/12/23/SOCCER_West_Brom_Miller.html&ID=
  4. happy about this, could serioulsy dent them and he scored a good goal against us.
  5. on news page for more details.
  6. For some reason the link keeps aboritng but.. Liverpool and Ars have been quoted £10 million for Alex Chamberlain! Also in BBC gossip colum.
  7. There are several key ingredients for it to succeed. - The players that come through actually need to ability to play at a high level, as well as being local or just an academy player. - They need time to get as a team and develop as players and this will almost certainly be built outside the Premier League. - Patience is needed. The new training ground will give us a great chance of doing this and so will an expanded and better scouting network. They can be very useful. Juande Ramos was very successful at Sevilla with the aid of a great scouting team and shrewd purchases. Its very refreshing to see we have a long-term plan, while they can be challenging to stick to, is better than throwing millions at the first team and raising expectations beyond the roof. Only time will tell if it will work. I also agree with Hpyo about Chambo. Take away the raw pace, there is still an awful lot to develop, but at 17 he has time on his side. Look at Lallana, could argue won't have the pace to make it all the way to the top in his position, but has the ball skills. Chambo's pace always gives you a chance.
  8. Unlikley after submitting new plans for a training ground.
  9. You would think, although I do remeber some quote from Pardew about Lee being ready to play and being patient bringing him back. He did then barely played again. Maybe he didn;t impress maybe it was injury.
  10. not surprised but disapointed it didn't work out. I honestly prefer Lee Holmes. He was one of our better players in the season we went down despite playing only a handful of games. He has an excellent work rate and a fantastic cross and will suply great service to Lambert. People would do well to remeber that Holmes has performed in the Championship and competenly, something that Puncheon and of course AOC haven't yet. Give the bloke a chance, if fit, he deserves it.
  11. nothing hear either
  12. We can;t see what happens at training, but it would be nice to see Do Prado given a start rather than being brought onto to try and rescue a game. Holmes looked lively and finally a corner beat the first man. Give Barnard a go up front he has good movement but it will only work with hard working wingers, thats what u get with punch and holmes, they both track back well and get the ball in the box.
  13. A slightly experimental line-up, that would see a few names dropped to bench so they could still be brought to make impact, with the intention of getting a point: --------------Davis-------------- BUTS-----JF-------FIT/CB---------DH -----------MS------DH-------------- PUNCH--------GULY-----------HOLMES ----------------BARNY---------------
  14. Absolutely delighted with the appointment. Pardew is long gone and very happy with Adkins coming in. Time to forget the rumours, let things finally settle and get right behind Adkins, the players and Cortese. Our season starts now! COYR
  15. Good appointment. The man deserves respect as a manager and we could have done a lot worse than him. He's ocming down a league forget, and altghough we have the resources of a Premier League club, we are a League 1 Club which some people would do good to remember. Just becasue he has done well at S****horpe on a shoe string budget, fans automatically asume he can't handle money and big-name players... based on what? I say quit the whinging, put up with it and lets get behind him ffs. Not in the same bracket of course, but lets not forget Bob Paisley started as a physio and look how he turned it out. Lets give the bloke time and hopefully he can turn this early mess into promotion. COYR/WIFM ect etc etc etc
  16. diego maradonna? there would be a shcok. The speculation is pointless if a little interesting, whoever comes in, first step get three points then the rest will come.
  17. tbf I wasn't saying that I believed them like I said just passing it on.
  18. Just passing on what I've heard from people at the game who appear to have some sources; -- Lallana isn't injured, he has been banned for six weeks, for kicking up a fuss about Pardew departure -- Martin missed game on Tuesday for similar reasons -- Barnard and a few others have told Cortese to sort if out or they are off. Not concrete not claim to fame just saying what I heard from today... What I will say is this, true or not, all these rumours of unrest aren't good, the sooner off field matters can be put to bed and getting things sorted on the pitch the better, becasue if anything like today continues it won;t be a happy end to the season
  19. lets make it fans official, if the mods would be so kind to add a poll; (corrected, sarcy ****s) Favourites look like; based on odds and rumour; Nigel Adkins Eddie Howe Gianfranco Zola
  20. If anyone wants a link that should work here it is..... http://livetv.ru/en/allupcoming/ scroll down to saints rochdale
  21. its funny how many people fell for the Paul Hart deal and as a result Sky make a tidy bit of money.... They cut the odds for Hart run an aritlce, punters put a 'safe' bet on it, the story is ********, Sky quids in.... clever stuff
  22. PaddyPower don't even feature Adkins but do have Carlton Palmer. Adkins btw might be a good choice, unsure whether or not he would be up to the totally differnet task of being at Southampton, where prmotion is more or less expected rather than suprising. Good manager though. http://www.paddypower.com/football/football-specials/manager-specials?ev_oc_grp_ids=57231
  23. If they are going to play Guly they may as well play him in the centre where it sounds like he will be twice as useful as out wide, at least give the bloke a chance.
