look above, Derby are having to cut their cloth very finely atm and they also have Kris Commons ahead of him. Despite all the comparisons i think he can opearte in the centre of midfield too and would surely be useful as a squad player? He may be old but with it he brings a range of exp. He knows how to get out of the CCC and altohugh we are building a squad for the CCC, despite the money we have it is highly unlikely every member of the squad is going to be of a high CCC standard.

Daily Mail: "Pardew faces Saints axe"
forever a red and white replied to trousers's topic in The Saints
I believe the case is... At the start of the season Pardew was suppossed to be judged after 18 months. However, he promised the board that if he was given enough finanical backing to bring in his targets he would ensure Saints got to the play-offs minimum. That is what Corstese was reffering to in his indepth interview when he kept saying the target was the play-offs esp after the expensive players were bought in. Therefore as far as Cortese in concered AP has failed. Not in our view but his. But Pardew has played the media game very welll by constanly saying i will be judged after 18 months, so if he does get the chop he comes up looking rosy. Personally i think he should def be kept on. The progress made in the first season has been brillaint considering the turonover of players and a wonderful day at Wembley. It would be foolish to remove him now. It all depends on whether he can keep his realtionship with Cortese. More signings like Papa won't help, because he was certainly not Pardew's signing. -
i'm making my point ur making yours, regards

sorry that stat is wrong Derby have used the most players but the point is they are chopping and changing the squad with the intent of reducing
-
didn't stop one last season...
-
Nigel Clough has had to majorily cut the squad, Derby have a statisitc of using near the smallest total of players this season. Derby have had to cut majorily and this is continuing this summer. Quite frankly they can;t afford him and have Kris Commons so is probably a regualar bench warmer. He is better than Lloyd James.

if only...

a pitch invasion would be embarrasing. The only reason coming to this game is thank the players and staff after game for what has been a very entertaining season even if it has not been everything we hoped for.
-
just been released by Derby. Although we are not in short supply of wide players he can operate in the middle as well. Vertaisle player who also possesses quality as well on the ball. Thoughts?

exaclty, once the oldham result happened this was always likely to occur, should have got a refund if didn;t wanna go.

Just back from the game thread

i can understand frustration about team selection but these last two games were an opp to try new systems and players without big game pressure. James had a poor first half but improved in the second. we should not forget the signs of improvement he showed in early part of season before injury. Lacks match sharpness and should be kept as a squad player. Seaborne is also thoroughly improving game by game. -

that would be lush -
Torn between Harding and Lambert. Most improved award: Morgan Young Player of the Season: Adam Lallana Harding has been most consistent in terms of performance compared to Lambert, but you can't ignore the fact he has scored over 30 goals this season
-
still unconived by James. Lets not forget he has been out for a long time with injuries and played very little football since the turn of the year. So its natural he was off the pace. He may be worth keeping as a squad player for his versatility alone. Lets not forget also he is still a young player

james on for wotton, needed
-
Pardew tried the diamond formation three times this season and it hasn't worked once, that would be my major reservation, now its not the time to experiment, not with so much at stake
-
playing Carlisle every week are we? My point is this. James may not have great pace but he certainly has more than Hammomd and Wotton and he is certainly more mobile than the other two. The emphasis of attack from a midfield minus Morgan will come from the wide players. Hammond can't be everywhere at once. Although Wotton will sit, James can run for longer and might even be a bit better at passing. Wotton is a useful player and has great experience, but instead of faffing with the formation etc, saying we should consider James. who before his injury was improving in CM
-
put James in there. With Wotton an Hammond there is no pace in the middle and risk getting slighty overun

look every team can look back at the end of the season and say we should have picked up points here. Only the top teams win every game, this season was always a challenge. If we won everygame we were suppossed to and that was the norm across football the game would be boring. Its happened. -
best away game for some time. Everyone played well. Morgan, exlucding his brilliant goal had a great game. Fantastic loving it, just a shame about Huddersfield could prove to be a step too far. Althoug they have Millwall and Colchester crunch games
-
right then get into filton at 19:09, bristol saint, am i right in thinking go over bridge go through path and turn left and follow road all the way up?
-
Wheres the best place to go before? Know Filton is close but not the nicest route to walk after game? Anyone know about taxis from Temple Meads and back to station after game?
-
he should be playing on the left becasue he can;t operate on the right. Put him on the left and his performances will improve no end. He would be more comfortable and get more balls in the box
-
well usually would say get the bus or taxi into town where there is a weatherspoons, otherwise a bit big walk. Town centre is miles away from the ground, there is a pub near the ground will try and find out more; if not; footballgroundguide..co.uk or com
