So a sense of perspective should stop us from seeking a better life and country for ourselves? Sorry mate, but you're talking absolute sh1t

Yes, it's a contract condition that your box must be connected to a phone line for at least the first year.
-
yeah since figured that out. And in respect of his comment, tough ****ing ****, they wrote the song and can play it whatever ****ing way they like.

Because we fought wars, developed our west civilization and democracy to a point where we are able to influence in very broad terms our destination. This is EXACTLY what gives us the right to complain you patronising sod. eg. if I'm hard done by after buying a new appliance which breaks down, i don't think "ah **** it, its ok, I could be living in Darfur".

America more so, I wouldnt say that socialism has a bad name here, I think everyone appreciates the NHS. We were the pioneers, the first country in the world to implement socialist medicine. Obviously I was too young to appreciate or understand it at the time, but Thatchers snuggle with Regan and strict adherence to Milton Freidmans laissez-faire economic model, ie. "sell off everything, wreck the unions and dont touch the economy" saw us lose any of the strong socialist model we did have.

Just to clarify, the FTA channels on sky and freeview are NOT the same thing. You are viewing the unencrypted channels broadcast from sky, Freeview is a digital terrestial service provided through analogue ariel on your roof. Im not pointing this out for the sake of being pedantic, I dont want any of you going out trying to buy top up tv and wondering why it doesnt work on the sky box...
-
Installing CCTV isnt going to stop them, why dont you spend the money on security measures that stop them getting in in the first place.

100% right, socialism thrives strongly in Sweden at least (can't speak for the other countries), with trade unions having a far more affective influence than they do here, akin to France. In England, the people are afraid of the govt, in France, the govt are afraid of the people. It's not that the French are a bunch of work-shy surrender monkeys, they just get off their arse on a regular basis and act if they dont agree with something... when was the last time you can say we did that in this country, Poll Tax? Worked didn't it...

Ive not done it myself, but technically it should work fine. The standard sky dish is big enough, at Freesat isnt encrypted. However there are limitations to being able to tune the sky box to other channels, so yeah you would need to actually buy a freesat box, most seem to be recommending a humax model, not sure exactly what one tho.

You can buy my old Sky+ box if you like...
-
Firstly you should be aware that by cancelling your Sky+ Subscription you will no longer be able to view pre-recorded content. Secondly, the Sky+ box will not even boot completely without a satellite signal (it may boot and let you watch prerecorded content for about an hour, this is a "get out" incase of poor signal, thunderstorms etc). If you want to stay with your current set up, a list of FTA (free to air) channels that you will be able to receive when you cancel your subscription are available here http://www.vowles-home.demon.co.uk/Sat/SkyFTA.htm Personally, I think your best bet would be to flog the sky+ box on ebay and get yourself a freesat box. I havent been able to see if you can use your sky+ box on freesat, I suspect not. Your dish and LNB will happily pick up the freesat signal which is on 28.5E (Astra 2b). No realigning of your dish is required. If you feel more adventurous, I would highly recommend purchasing a 90cm dish and a Dreambox, a dual lnb and pointing it at Astra1 and hotbird. Satellite TV (particularly receiving foreign tv) is a little passion of mine, so happy to give more advice if you need it

I feel so sorry for you I'm not even going to bother moving this to the correct forum. -
You should see the hospitals... granted I've only ever been to maternity wards, but the country is an example of how good socialised medicine can be. When the missus has to use the NHS, its frankly cringeworthy...

Indeed, I spend a LOT of time in Belgium and Germany, I see quite clearly the level of tax local of these countries have to pay... and I also see how fantastic the health care, unemployment benefits and pensions are in these countries.

I see every recession/depression as an opportunity. If I'm not preparted to leave the country, then I am going to get off my own back and make it work. Running my own business, I consider that if I can make it through the next couple of years (which Im sure I can) I will come out the other side prosperer. Dont get my wrong, you are complete within your right to moan, and I really feel for your situation, but really the only thing we can do is talk with our votes or with our feet (leave). As far as tax is concerned, I consider us lucky, we pay significantly less than the other major European nations.

wouldnt bother with gt5 prologue and wait for GT5 proper to come out. If you want a similar driving game get Grid. PES2009 or Fifa09, not much between em really.
