Oh, you are kidding? That is actually even worse that the comments on the fans! Well Mr Wotte, if you're not impressed by Preston's quality, what about our quality as we all but prop up the league? This guy is a joke.
-
I do agree but I think the club should be advising him better. I did like his comments on some of the younger players who I think he sees as having a poor attitude (and so do we at matches). The trouble is the language that he has used is very polarising although I doubt if this was his intention. However, the club's board obviously thought it appropriate though which says it all. Many of us will recall the season ticket waving at the Forest game which was sad to see as a Sants fan and this just hardens the attitude of both "sides". Sad that we've got sides when we all support SFC but judging by the continuing bile being posted in favour and against the current board, I cannot see that changing for some time.

I agree but Plymouth are looking like Sturrock might be on his way. What are they saying in the South West TDD? A new manager might get them from 35 to 50-55 points say which will be enough this year. Norwich just don't seem to be able to win games even when they are dominating them so perhaps it will be them.

I don't want Lowe or Wilde, I really don't but administration would be dreadful in this world economic recession. Four years ago say, we'd have got multiple bids with Askham and co. disabled financially but in this climate we can't be certain.

Nice place.

I agree on Wilde but was that not a huge Charlton protest after losing 5-2 at home to Sheff Utd? I have a couple of friends who are Charlton fans and trust me, their board is seriously under scrutiny although Murray is held is somewhat higher regard as he has invested in the past (and I think still is) and owns a proper stake in the club. For the record, I was quite happy for Hoddle to return but it didn't happen because the board were as divided as the fans on the issue at the time. That said, Lowe didn't have to resort to Sturrock or Wigley but that's old ground I can't see any merit in raking over again.

You live in the North? Please stay there. Actually, why don't you join Mike on Jersey?

Sorry, that's just gash. Boothroyd spoke well at Watford but then delivered a stunning promotion after keeping Watford. If Wotte is going to give it large, he needs to back up with some wins. Given that he was working with JP, they've won one home league game all season. One home win in case that didn't register with you. By the way, if you are going to take the rude approach with other posters, please at least post something semi-intelligent.

Looks like if Plymouth don't win Sturrock is for the chop. "Grave concern" at Plymouth's league position and one win in 15 games. TDD seemed to think they were almost as bad as us when he saw them.
-
Big difference though JFP - Clough won League Titles and 2 European Cups. Clough could get away with saying whatever he liked as he'd proven he could walk the walk and not at the big clubs either. Wotte has taken a club into administration and relegated another with us to add to his collection. Not quite the same impact really.

Coroners report: Southampton Football Club killed by greed of Askham, Wiseman, Richards and others. Disease can be traced back to 1996 and a dubious reverse takeover, the new doctor Mr Lowe revived the patient 1997-2003 but rather lost his way after that and once another new doctor joined the staff, Mr Wilde, the patient's already poorly conditioned significantly worsened it. Death by neglect and incompetence.

Can't wait for that first Test V Sri Lanka in a couple of years. Bit sickening that Cardiff gets an Ashes Test this summer though.

Nice one Trousers. Those 2 quotes say it all, even the calibre of PR plant on here has got worse!

My guess: Official gate: 14,781 Real gate: 10,542

Can't say I'm too outraged myself but really Wotte just needs to keep his gob shut Frank and get on with his job which is winning matches. Based on what we've seen after a promising start at Norwich, he's failing appallingly. If we'd won the last 2 games fair enough but he needs to pull his head in if he can't walk the walk. Tommorrow with Preston you'll see what a fit and organised side can do without large budgets as Irvine has learned lots from Moyes.
-
Agreed and not popular at Coventry either where he has constantly whined for a move before Coleman told him to shut it.

I think they had a problem at Chandler's Ford when it was Gateway but that's another matter....it was probably Lowe as a graduate trainee I reckon.

No, I agree, it's not a happy or fun site. I can understand to an extent though, the club is in a mess and are also aware - as are their opponents to be fair to both sides - of the power of this site and ones like it. Hence you see more plants on here than Kew Gardens. I recommend having a read of the hated people thread - not the most cheerful but most of it's about football largely! After all, that's why I used to post on previous sites like Saintsworld and S4E in the first place- because I was a football fan. Now SFC and any conversation around it seems to be all about everything but football. At least with Stanford (allegedly) exposed, cricket might at least focus a bit more and give me a distraction from football.

Have a look at their scoring records Sid. Granted, we pay them a lot more than McG but no goals and sunday league upfront = relegation. We could at least have replaced them with lower level CCC players or League 1 even. McG wouldn't even get a game at Oxford or Crawley. We had to loan one of Rasiak/John out and I accept that but to then loan Saga out too and tell McG he was the main striker - a player that was already alleged to have attitude problems, had been homesick and hadn't scored in 19 games at Port Vale last season - that's idiotic.
-
Going to war with this squad - not exactly any players in our squad that are going to get stuck in is there? Wotton probably would if he was quick enough to catch anybody! Definately no MLT either. To be fair, the bloke is out of options and he's trying to appeal to the supporters, trouble is, the board scarpered to the emergency bunker some time ago where Askham is counting his loot again.
-
Totally correct CB, +1. Bungle, I like the stuff you post on the Lounge but seriously mate, this line of argument you are pushing defies logic, league tables and has more holes than, well, Dutch cheese...

There's one big difference between Doncaster and us and it's the decisive one - John Ryan. A man prepared to invest sensibly - please take note Rupert, Mike, Guy, Patrick (Trant) and others - rather than just enjoy the kudos of being involved without contributing anything. Ryan has a good manager in O'Driscoll - look at Bournemouth since he left - and has kept his better players - Mills, Stock and added good bargains for that level in the likes of Woods. What we should have been doing in the summer actually instead of all the b@llocks about "total football". Ryan is respected by the fans and has installed a sense of purpose and unity that has taken them from being a Conference club to near-CCC safety. We were a PL club at the time. Bet their wage bill is STILL smaller than ours. Doncaster highlight the poor decisions made by us, Charlton and Norwich for me. All 3 look likely to drop and all 3 were in the PL a few years ago. We have even less excuse because these season was always gonig to be difficult and Lowe and Wilde took stupid, reckless risks. It makes them no better than Jim Hone.
-
I'd agree with that. Wasn't anywhere near good enough at the time and almost dropped into non-league but like Gary Monk seems to have got his backside in gear. If he carries on that like and moves to say Wigan for £5m then we might regret letting him go but early days for him at CCC level.

He also scored for West Ham in what was C@ckrill's last game for us at the Dell in 93/94. Lee Chapman did seem to be unpopular at a number of clubs for some reason. I'd add to my earlier list these names: - Phillips - unneccessary comments on departing and not popular with his team-mates wherever he's been. - Berkovic - great player but not Mr Popular either. I can't think of Berkovic without Hartson's boot thumping into his jaw! - Diego Maradona - flawed genius but cheating little cokehead as well - Eranio and Baiano - diving sh!ts earning penalties in seperate games at our bogey stadium, Pride *****s - Kevin Bond - the semi-final backpass in 86 and a waste of money as a coach. Did relegate Bournemouth to his credit though. - David Lee - one of THE worst SFC players ever and slagged off the club and the fans because he was so sh!t he couldn't even dislodge the other rubbish Branfoot signed. - Branfoot - nice bloke but awful football. Askham takes a lot of the blame though. - David Speedie - can anyone remember Boro home when 2 of our fans had a pop at him? Missed from 2 yards out at Liverpool. To think Branfoot said Speedie and Dixon would outscore Shearer! - Stuart Ripley - said he didn't care if we went down. To be fair, he said sorry and did work harder after that but a poor player with some decent games in early 99/00. Summed up his spell with us in his last game V Ipswich, WGS's first where he was superb for an hour, badly tore a hamstring and retired - Bryan Robson - got Case sent off when it was a yellow and his Boro team were flashing imaginary yellow cards at the ref at the Dell trying to get our lads booked. Wonder where they learned that? - Roy Keane - for that gesture on the final day 04/05
