  1. Pompey are heavy favourites to win League 2. Thoughts? http://www.oddschecker.com/football/english/league-2/winner
  2. We should look for pockets of global support rather than "global branding" Isn't Yoshida skipper for Japan? If so (or indeed, anyway) Tokyo would be a good start....
  3. Villa's chance of winning the league = 0.067% Saints = 0.05% It's a rounding error....
  4. I can pretty much confirm, with 100% certainty to two decimal points, that the first part of this assertion is total and utter b0ll0cks. If the "budget" was £91m, we have spent a lot of that already on player salaries (and the new contracts that so many have signed are high). As for the second part re: Benali, I have no idea.
  5. Damn. I just piled a ton of £ on Accrington to get promoted next year. Then I'm told this is a hoax. Sigh....
  6. Sounds about right. Palace about 65% to go down, Saints about 12%.
  7. 4th place for me. Because it would (probably) indicate a sensational long-term future for the club. If we are strong enough to get 4th in the league next year, we'll win a cup soon enough, I'd think. If we just have a single great CUp run, but end up 14th again, that would count as a great season, but wouldn't really mean we're moving forwards in a big way.
  8. This. Surely any budget agreed with the Liebherrs is simply a playing staff budget - combining transfers and wages. Or is the trust happy for us to pay limitless wages to anyone we sign on a free?
  9. Could your grandma also see that we were certain to be relegated when we went 1-0 down at Sunderland? Just trying to gauge how exceptional her footballing analysis is....
  10. Is this some business deal rather than a football deal? They've bought an Accrington-based restaurant or bar or something!?
  11. Rank Xerox please.
  12. Is this really expected? Hope not... I was hoping for revisit of Rank Xerox or maybe the c1976 kit with variable width stripes.
  13. Struggling with the kid's phone? They can be tricky little buggers (kids and phones) LMAO
  14. Might explain why he can be on holiday and fly back to Sainsbury's for a quick visit in his Tardis.
  15. Brilliant. Fastest ever debunking of a made-up rumour?
  16. Why is everyone so seemingly insistent about this? What's wrong with signing some squad players? E.g. Say we need a 6th choice centre back who is better than Seabourne. Well, replacing him doesn't mean spending £15m on some international superstar. I think we need to sign about 3 players for the starting XI, but maybe 4 or 5 who will be typically be subs/squad players/back up.
  17. Yep. Well, I suppose he may be first choice, but he probably ain't going to play any more than 25-30 games.
  18. If they go for Hughes, I think they could well be relegated. Dreadful manager who makes players worse not better.
  19. Of course I can say that without "full details of his injury record". He has been absent for more and different injury reasons than any other squad member.
  20. Shame he's been so injury prone. I do wonder the maximum number of games we could expect him to play next season if he stays. If we push him too hard, we risk more - and worse - injuries.
  21. I'd love Gaston to stay and make a success of things here. I'm less worried about his mediocre first season than if he has failed to settle here and wants away...
  22. So, they consider 5 "what ifs" and basically decide that they would have made very little difference indeed. Brilliant.
  23. Echo says there will be a big clearout (no surprise or even news there, really) http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/saints/news/10441054.Saints_set_for_big_clear_out/?ref=twt&utm_content=Southampton,+Saints,
  24. In terms of high managerial turnover, Alan Pardew is now the second longest serving manager in the top flight with just 2 seasons under his belt. Were Pardew to be sacked, Arsene Wenger would then have been in post for longer than all the other Premier League managers put together.
  25. Certainly, very few of those most expensive 25 players would make it into a list of Saint's best 25 players - or even our best 50. That said, I think our recent signings haven't been too bad - with the jury still out on a few of them (I'm not writing off Ramirez, Mayuka, Gazzanigga or the mysterious Forren) and a couple of truly excellent signings (Clyne and Yoshida)
