To be clear, the only way we can now be relegated is if we lose by 12 goals or more against Stoke and Wigan win their two remaining games. (It is not a swing on goals. if we lose 6-0 to Stoke and Villa lose 6-0 to Wigan, we still stay up).

Step-by-step guide to survival before kick off on May 19th

Updated following today's games. We're now essentially safe with 40 points. -
Yep. But rather less room for comfort given the current Norwich and Newcastle scores.
-
Not scored in 345 minutes now. Bit disappointing.
-
Definitely. Makes us safe.
-
Everything going wrong in the other games, sadly.

Good news. He's suspended for next week's game.

Well, after that breathless Watford game, just a reminder of what we want from today's other games: Stoke v Spurs. (currently 1-1) Spurs win. To keep the pressure on Arsenal to win on Tuesday and give us a good chance of leapfrogging Stoke. Everton v West Ham. Everton win. Means we may still have a chance of catching West Ham (although not much of one) Fulham v Liverpool. Liverpool win and preferable by a cricket score. Gives us a good chance of catching Fulham. Norwich v West Brom. West Brom win. Would mean Norwich having to beat Man City away to catch us. QPR v Newcastle. QPR win. Would mean Newcastle having to beat Arsenal at home to catch us. Man Utd v Swansea (4pm). Irrelevant to us.

Gees. Incredible. Feel sorry for Leicester. But not for Nugent, obviously. The skate c**t.
-
Really. Was it a straight red v WBA or a 2nd yellow? If the latter, you're right - it would only be a one match ban.
-
Suspended for rest of the season. As is Fox.
-
1. Wigan win both their remaining games - Arsenal (a) and Villa (h) AND 2. Norwich secure 2+ points v WBA (h) and Man City (a) AND 3. Newcastle secure 2+ points v QPR (a) and Arsenal (h) AND 4. We lose to Sunderland today by 12 goals or more Not especially likely, all in all.

Am I right that Watford wouldn't be allowed as many loan players from Udinese if they do make it to the Premiership?
-
Good news. Very good news.
-
Tbh, that's not ideal. We want both Spurs and Arsenal to keep winning, I think.
-
Spurs equalise. Dempsey.
-
Too true. Been staggeringly close from halfway to 18th and in the race for 3rd and 4th. Oddly though, it's just about possible that all these important issues will be resolved before kick off on the last day of the season.

I appreciate he's a trolling loon. Just seeking to clarify things for the slightly saner readers of this forum.
-
If Stoke win or draw against Spurs, Arsenal can effectively guarantee a CL spot if they beat Wigan on Tuesday.
-
There are no remotely credible circumstances in which we need to. A single point from our last two games keeps us up.

Time lags on following Saints on TV/radio/online
SaintBobby replied to SaintBobby's topic in The Saints
Much obliged, thanks. -
I gather we're the 3pm game on Radio 5 today. My usual tactic, when at my flat following an away game, is to have SaintsPlayer on one PC, a stream of the game on another, Sky Sports News on the TV and twitter open on the #saintsfc hashtag. My experience has been that: 1. Twitter gets the key info first 2. Sky Sports News is about 5-10 seconds later 3. Saintsplayer is about 30 seconds behind that (I assume BBC Solent over the radio might be faster) 4. Online streams are about a further 10 seconds behind. Anyone know where Radio 5 fits into that list?

Fair enough. It's all about opinions. I loved the lower league tour and the JPT win (and even, in retrospect, the trauma of slipping down the divisions). But having done it, I am not keen on repeating it really (and not too keen on starting again in Division 14)

History and memories are, of course, really important in football. But hope for the future is more important still as far as I'm concerned. For every season in which we're in the Premiership and our squad is as good or better than it is at present, we will be in with an okay-ish chance of winning a Cup each year (or perhaps one day qualifying for Europe via the league). I appreciate that the OP is positing some sort of world in which we're logically prohibited from winning any silverware if we stay up in the top flight, but that's pretty hard to get your head round. I wouldn't swap what we have done since 2008 for Pompey's cup win and subsequent collapse. To take the question one (small) step further, would you prefer to win the FA Cup in 2015 and then be liquidated in 2016 or to be in the top flight for the rest of your life and never win a trophy? If silverware is all that counts, I'd guess you'd pick the former. But I wouldn't.
