  1. Allardyce seemed quite upbeat about Carroll's chances of making the squad. 5-6 goals and a few headed knock ons for his mate Nolan to score and he might just do it. Saturday is the perfect opportunity for Rickie to get back on track. Let's be honest, neither are good enough for the world stage, but nor is Welbeck. Quite sad really that the only position we have an abundance of quality in is left back.
  2. A lot of people I've chatted with who are non-Saints fans agree that Shaw should go. I'd be perfectly happy with Baines starting, he deserves his chance. Cole is world class, but he's had plenty of tournaments, and with our chances of winning theres no point in him going. Definitely last chance for J Rod, but the selection of Defoe is baffling, his career is winding down, he's gone for a last payday in Canada and for me won't be capable of playing at the highest level in June. So strikers wise I'd like to think it'll be Rooney, Sturridge, then Welbeck/J Rod and Lambert/Carroll. We can forget any far fetched chances for Clyne and Cork. The next few games are massive for a few of our players, especially Rickie, who needs goals now that Fat Sam has suggested Carroll shouldn't have too many problems getting on the plane. He's not as bad as people on here make out, as much as I'd love Rickie to go I just hope it's based on form
  3. JWP doesn't really contribute a lot for me. We get told about his great free kicks and dead ball delivery, how many goals and assists has he contributed? Think we need to accept he is Championship level and not good enough for where we want to get to.
  4. That pretty much sums it up. For me, this season promised an improvement on the last with the potential to finish 9th or 10th. It's starting to fade out though, we simply overperformed in the first 10 games. We were never going to keep up that sort of form. Like I have said before, we need at least another 5 players of the same sort of quality of Lovren, which will be difficult, but will cost a lot. It's the only way if we want to even break into the top 6. let's stop kidding ourselves that every young player we give a debut to (JWP, Reed, Gallagher, Isgrove) is good enough for a team competing at the top level, because they're simply not.
  5. Martinez has surprised me. In a way it shows up Moyes' shortcomings as a manager, further highlighted by United's league position. However, I expected them to finish outside the top 4, such was the state of their squad. Also surprised at how poorly some of Spurs signings have worked out, I think they signed too many at once, but at the time thought they had spent the Bale money well. And Liverpool, who have shown in recent weeks that they don't always have to rely on the brilliance of Suarez.
  6. We have to be more clinical. I'm getting bored of all these games where we dominate possession but then lack a cutting edge in front of the goal. Saturday reminded me to an extent, of watching Barca and Bayern in midweek. Lots of neat and tidy build up play, except the major difference being that they can put the ball in the net and we can't.
  7. I was also reliably informed by a West Ham fan that Lallana is '****ing useless and completely out of his depth for England, and that Noble should be picked. Oh, and that Yoshida is Chinese. No point on getting wound up by it, just laugh at the clueless dumb ****s.
  8. This is the sort of game we will probably win. Liverpool are scoring for fun, but very weak at the back. Lovren simply has to start. I'd also start Ramirez with Lallana and Rodriguez in the middle, Lambert on the bench
  9. Forget Osvaldo, he won't play again. Still think we missed a trick not signing Shane Long in January
  10. We're constantly reminded on here of MPs awful win percentage, so surely he's not good enough for PSG? Nor should anyone care anyway, 4 wins in 17 is it? TBH I can take it or leave it with him, he's clearly a good manager, but there's others who could do a decent job with our squad. As a fan I don't feel as much of a connection or loyalty towards him, maybe part of the reason is the speaking Spanish. Despite his limitations, Nige was a top bloke and I was devastated when he left, I don't think it will be the same when Pochettino goes
  11. It was a strange game, I don't know what to make of it. Other than the 3 goals and the Diame shot off the bar, they created nothing. Which begs the question as to what the **** we were doing for 90 minutes. J Rod, Lallana and Lambert were all very poor, a couple more performances like that and none of them will be anywhere near the world cup squad.

    Plan B

Enoigh of all the bull**** threads and trolling nonsense after another defeat. From where I was watching, we dominated the game but with little cutting edge. We limited West Ham to about 4 chances, 3 of which were converted to goals. So what I want to know is, if we perform so badly when playing the ball on the floor against one of the more 'powerful' sides, what is our plan B? Today was an embarassment, makes me wonder what is the point of turning up for a game. Make no mistake, West Ham were awful but they played to their strengths correctly. What are ours?
  13. Bizarre game. 3 shots 3 goals for West Ham. We need to stop ****ing around in the final third. Gaston was the only player trying to make things happen
  14. Disgraceful. Maybe they were so focussed on the Winter Olympics that they forgot about the FA Cup
  15. It's too early to start talking about transfers. We need some stability regarding ownership and the managerial situation. It's going to be interesting, but we can only hope it gets resolved early on in the close season
  16. Still angry, but it's done and can't be fixed. A good result Saturday will go some way to changing things though. Let's face it, our views on our team mainly change on a week to week basis. Win at West Ham, and all of a sudden we'll be world beaters
  17. Hope we get a win, we need to move on from the Sunderland game. If we play a full strength side and lose, this forum will be unbearable. Whats the news with Lovren? And I noticed Ramirez has been called up to the Uruguay squad, so he can't be far away either. We say the season's over, but for at least half the side there's still a lot to play for. There will be no letting up with World Cup places up for grabs
  18. Don't think the OP is far off, but Welbeck and Rodriguez won't both go, no chance. Roy will probably take 8 defenders and only 4 strikers. How anyone thinks Cork has a chance of getting in at this late stage is beyond me, it won't happen. Roy has a lot of central midfielders to choose from, my biggest worry is him picking either Cleverley or Lampard (or even worse, both)
  19. Only a good few wins can go towards fixing what happened. But thinking straight for a minute, it's incredible how many of us are so disappointed that we are 'only' 8th, and would much rather enjoy a nice relegation fight. What do we actually want as fans? If we can't be happy with anything less than Champions League or any other distant dream, then what's the point? Football is about winning ganes, and we've won more than we've lost, which is an achievment. It'll take a while to forget about our cup exit, but I'm going to West Ham on Saturday and will be delighted if we win.
  20. Still no. As much as they've done well in cups, relegation battles are too stressful as a fan. Ok, so we're almost stuck where we are in the league, but I have to admit that it's nice for the first time in a few years to not have to be constantly worrying about our result, as well as 5 or 6 other teams. Let's be honest, Sunderland might still go down (can't see it myself but it's mathematically possible) and probably won't win either cup. I think come the end of the season, once we've all calmed down from the disgraceful events on Saturday, the majority will agree they'd rather be where we are.
  21. Not sure I'd play all of those, Guly and Jos will need a rest after Saturday. Maybe start Forte, his pacy legs will be raring to go.
  22. Still don't get this resting players nonsense. I find the premier league a bit boring compared to league one and championship, there's only a couple of midweek fixtures and less games. I'm sure some of the players would prefer more games too. Plenty of our squad are used to playing saturday-tuesday-saturday, do they really struggle to do it now on the very rare occasion it happens??!!
  23. Think we should rest a few for this, what with there being some massive games coming up after against so many of our rivals who are competing for 8th place. In all seriousness, can see another repeat of the last time and a 0-0 draw. 2 fairly solid defences and not much attacking intent
  24. This is all getting a bit deep and intellectual. I'm quite interested in how a football result affects a person's hand movements, I've never noticed any major changes win, lose or draw.
  25. Same here, I don't usually moan on here but still furious about yesterday, even 24 hours later. We can't do anything to change it by venting our frustrations on here, but it's difficult to keep calm. Funnily enough, the only other time this season I've felt like this was after the last Sunderland game that we somehow failed to win. What's worse is that we deserved nothing yesterday. Shocking misses by Lambert and Lallana, but Sunderland could have easily killed the game off if they weren't so hopeless in fron of goal too
