What's interesting is that we have all these players who are wanted by teams above us. Why aren't we higher in the league? Is the manager not getting the best out of the players?
-
So we've got a point, but it looks like half the team are on holiday already, same as happened last season. If the game today was a couple of months ago I have no doubt we would have won. There was no urgency or intensity, and the remaining games are all against better opposition than Villa, who were very poor.
-
Yep, it is, we are clear favourites and probably shouldn't be. They lack any serious firepower, and the loss of J Rod has severely weakened us. However, with Boruc back I think we might just sneak it 1 0 (Fonte or Lovren from a set piece)
-
I'm happy enough with 8th and realistic enough to realise that it might be as good as it gets. But sometimes I think how much better things could be with a bit of investment. Whats so bad about dreaming of success?

How many do you think will be sold if any?

Well we shall see. Only just seen VMANS post. Looks like the dream is dead and the next level won't be reached, following in the footsteps of Villa. Very disappointing -

I think Shaw is almost certain to go. Not so convinced about Schbeiderlin, I think he still goes under the radar, and isn't often linked with a move to other clubs. If he leaves, who do people think he will go to? -
Sorry for posting something that's clearly put me in trolling territory. Apologies for my negative concerns regarding our next few results

Guly, Hooiveld, Gazzaniga, Osvaldo and Shaw to leave, possibly Schneiderlin, Ramirez and Lallana. But in all honesty, it's difficult to know. This is the biggest summer of uncertainty since we were in administration. What worries me is that the World Cup will slow down getting things sorted in good time -
I'm just asking what I believe is a valid question. I'm not so sure we will get any points and would like to know what others think.Don't slate the thread if you're simply going to make a response like that
-
Oh yeah, he needs his bonus! Will he not start giving a run out to some of the other squad players though, Guly, Jos, Reed, Gallagher etc?
-
Genuine question, looking at the fixtures we have left and the way we played yesterday, it's entirely possible. It's still been a great season but we all know how poor an end we had last season once it looked like we were safe.
-
The thing is, most games we're having a high number of attempts, just failing to convert. I still think one of the main issues is a lack of goals from midfield (Davis, Cork, Morgan, Schneiderlin, JWP). We have been too reliant on J Rod, Lallana and Lambert this season
-
Difficult to get too ****ed off with the result. The season is over for us, now a nervous wait to see what happens in the summer
-
Gazzaniga playing puts us on a 2 goal handicap, so we will need to score 3 to win. 2-2 draw I think
-
Time for Roy to show the same sort of 'bravery' and not pick the likes of Lampard and Cole for his World Cup squad
-
Would you change positons with Sunderland?

This thread was an embarassment to the true fans when it was started, and is beyong rididiculous now. Can't believe how negative and defeatist Poyet is, they're meant to be fighting for their lives and he comes out and admits that they are as good as relegated, nearly as unbelievable a thing to say as those on here who would rather get relegated and lose a final than be in 8th place -
CONFIRMED: Rodriguez ruptures ACL - out for SIX months

He's not the first player to suffer this sort of injury. He's still a good age and he has a great future ahead of him -

Think he would have made the 30 amd then been dropped. He's had a far better season and is a better player but Roy was always going to take the safe option of Welbeck, even if J Rod went on to score 20 goals. Welbeck is average at best, but has played at a tournament and scored for England. He will only take 4 strikers, it'll be Rooney, Sturridge, Welbeck and one of Carroll or Lambert. It's awful news for him, but at least it makes things easier for Hodgson, who can now pretend he was considering him -

Very bad news, could take a long time to get back to his best. Couldn't have come at a worse time, although he wouldn't have gone to the World Cup he was really starting to hit top form. Hope he has a full recovery and comes back stronger than ever -
Can't see him beating it, how many penalties have we had this season? Man City, Hull at home, can't recall many others. Still, there's nothing better as a Saints fan than knowing that as soon as the ref points to the spot we will be scoring within a few seconds
-
Quite ridiculous that people were saying he was past it a few months ago. Sure, he had a poor spell of form but thats the same for every player. It's the sign of a quality player when they can still get 10 assists and 11 goals at the top level when they're old and past it. Would love nothing more than to see him get some game time at the World Cup because nobody deserves it more
-
We were always likely to lose, but what was Gazza doing for the 3rd and 4th goals? Nice to see MPs anger drive him to speaking in English
-
Hope he has a quick recovery. He wouldn't have gone to the World Cup anyway, but it's still frustrating as he's in his best spell of form for us
-
Yeah, because I'm sure if we played Bayern we'd be able to dominate possession with our free flowing attacking football.
