Just hope it gets done asap, we're going to need to bring in at least 8 new players, which will take time.

I genuinely believe he has the ability to be one of the stars of the World Cup, and then the Champions League (hopefully not with Livetpool, won't be us though)

England World Cup Squad - Lambert, Lallana and Shaw included

The problem is that Man Utd players have always been called up to England squads, regardless of ability (Smalling, Cleverley etc). In a way it's a little unfair on them as it makes them think they've made it already -
I think it's important now that we accept that Lallana is definitely going and move on. Many said we should try and sign another 3/4 players in the summer, but with Lallana and potentially another 2/3 first teamers plus Ramirez, Osvaldo, Jos And Guly, I think we might need another 8 or 9 new players.Obviously this is a worst case scenario but a possibility. It all depends whether the board will at least try to reinvest in some quality players, or buy a load of the painfully average players mentioned on here (Redmond, Bertrand etc.) I'm very concerned we are going to be following in the footsteps of Aston Villa. Ralph has talked a good game, but actions speak louder than words.

Hope he does well in his last ever game for us today

That's near enough who I would take. Lampard is past it though, can't imagine he will play anyway. Defence looks very weak though, shame we don't have the same sort of quality at right back and centre back as we do left back. -
Can see a few changes for this. It'll be their last game in a Saints shirt for Guly, Jos and Lallana. Also think KD will be Gk. Going for a 2-2 draw
-
Fairly sure he will be named Spurs manager within the next 2 weeks anyway. Instead of worrying about if and when, I'm more interested in who we will be getting in to replace him
-
Wow, why's everyone getting so worked about this? Lallana is obviously going to leave, so why the outrage at a team who will be playing in the Champions League showing an interest?
-
It's far easier to produce an argument for why he would move rather than stay. He's been with us a long time and has been a great servant, but he owes us nothing. He's been up and down the leagues with us, but surely he will feel he has earnt the opportunity to move onto bigger and better things than 8th placed finishes? I expect big things from him in the World Cup. If that happens, it will be impossible to keep him
-
Fair enough, but I believe they are opinions based more on what they hope to happen (Lallana staying) rather than what they think will happen in reality.
-
Well if he thinks we're going to be spending that much then it's very doubtful. Very worried that we are going to go the same way as Villa
-
I'm just speculating, it might have been nothing to do with MP, but we don't know. Osvaldo was an MP signing, didn't get much usage out of him did he?
-
Are we going anywhere fast? We're still very much in the dark about plans for the summer
-
Both were announced on the same day? However, hadn't MP been on talks for several weeks, or was it a committee signing?
-
Has katrina got the money to get us to next level?
Saint_Tony replied to Roger's topic in The Saints
I would think yes. However, my main concern is that under Cortese there was a lot of money spent, some spent well but a lot spent poorly (Osvaldo, Ramirez). That was a big factor in NC leaving IMO, so the question remains is KL willing to risk another big transfer budget in the summer? -
Sorry, but I think they are deluded. It's just people holding on to false hope. As I've said before, if Lallana and Shaw played for Newcastle for example, we'd all be on here saying that they're far too good for them and will move to a bigger club. So why is it that so many posters think they will stay with us?
-
Obviously the Sun make up most things, but on a serious note, if 4 or 5 first team players were to leave, how many new players will we need to sign? Strength in depth is an issue as it is
-
No. I've been critical of him several times and still have the opinion that he's not good enough. Don't think he offers a lot, and is too lightweight. A lot of posters have been banging on about his excellent dead ball delivery. How many goals and assists does he have?
-
Think it has to be that. Wanyama hasn't played enough and has been poor in a few games. Chambers also hasn't played that many games
-
Lampard is a surprise, I would think that might mean Carrick will miss out after what Roy said about United players. It will be good to see Roy make some brave decisions though. I'm actually getting nervous about the squad announcement, hoping Rickie goes
-
Yeah it seems he has only been given a chance as we had no othet options
-
I think part of the problem is too many people think every youngster we bring in and give a debut too will be the next big star player we produce like Shaw, Bale, Walcott etc. It's never going to happen. I'd wager that Gallagher will probably end up in League 1 soon enough
-
Could well be, thought I would pass it on anyway. Won't bother next time
-
Don't know, that's all I've heard but like I said could just be rumours. No mention of Shaw, which raises questions over whether he has a move lined up elsewhere. The thing with MP is he's never said he wants to stay. I can understand that contract talks might have been put on hold until the end of the season, but he hasn't demonstrated a desire to stay and build something here. Get the feeling we are simply a stepping stone for him, which is a little disappointing. He is replaceable though, whereas some of our players aren't
